Just a little rant about ch 15 i guess? You know the drill, spoiler alert and all
So... i have seen the playthrough of the infamous chapter 15 of cookie run kingdom... I... don't really like it? But i also do?
I've been so excited for this chapter, especially after the trailers. I was waiting for some grand episode, possible Gingerbrave awakening or corruption, him merging with the Ultimate Cookie. I was really, really hoping for Shadow Milk to redeem (though not necessarily in this chapter).
I liked Gingerbrave's angst, the technical aspects of the episode, like those cutscenes. They were epic, especially the one with Smilk and the post credit one. Like, you can't look at them and not think they belong in a professional animated tv series, anime, ect. They're so much better than most game cutscenes I've seen. Especially if you consider they're 2d. I mean, look at the lighting, shading, the amount of details, the camera angles, the animation itself. It's honestly stunning.
I also like how cookies were supporting Gingy, and how they worked together to help him get out. What i didn't like is the zero impact he made. Like, remember Pure Vanilla's Cookie episodes, both in Crispia and Beast-Yeast? How he and his emotions were the key of the plot? Like come on, let the mc be the mc for once, please! I also didn't really like how fast the Witch was defeated. I mean, i just got her through her gacha banner, what do you mean her story is over?! Where is her fight with Gingy? Where is her bringing her grand plans to life? Where is Gingy's souljam?
Again, i was waiting for Smilk redemption for so. Long! I really, really wanted him to become good. Especially after the stabbing episode. He started opening up to us, players, and the redemption was within reach-
And now Smilk is either bad forever, or we have to go through the whole Crk 2 or whatever to get to it. Which is not bad by itself, but i really want his character development now and not have to wait for another 5 years.
What i hated is the amount of heartbreaks per episode. I'm sorry, but everyone dying and not getting a proper happy ending is too much for me and is not encouraging me to play the game until things are back to normal again. I don't want to open up the game and think: "oh, right, everyone i like and all the characters who are linked to the characters i like are dead and everything has changed so drastically in a span of an hour that i don't recognize the game i played yesterday anymore :)". And is it just me, or is everything happened too fast? Like, we barely got to witness anything meaningful: the human Dark Enchantress, the Ultimate Cookie (more like Ultimate Yapper), the Beasts, especially them as a team. Maybe it's cause of the credits, which i personally don't like either. I don't feel like it's the proper end of the story, i don't think it is the end either, but the credits make it seem like it's the end. I feel like credits are unnecessary (though arts are nice).
Also, what is this cracker doing here, he doesn't deserve to be standing in the council, and especially not near his son.
Also, in other news, Timekeeper Cookie showed up, so time games are awaiting us, right? Maybe that's why everything went south in the most horrible way it could, because Devsisters plan on reversing it (or at least some of it).
You know, i feel like this went absolutely not how people expected it to go in any sense
