I struggle to understand why gun control is such an obstacle in the United States. I'm not talking bans, I'm talking common sense gun laws that help mitigate risk and reduce body counts in mass shootings. We all adhere to laws that restrict our personal freedoms for the good of the community as it stands. Consider traffic laws. You need a license to drive a car, there are speed limits, you can't be intoxicated while operating a vehicle, so on and so forth. Hell, wearing SEATBELTS.
And driving is something most Americans HAVE to do to survive. Gun ownership is a hobby. Hunting is a hobby. And for anyone that wants to argue hOmE pRoTeCtIoN, you're more likely to hurt yourself or a loved one than an intruder. AND you don't need a large ridiculous firearm for that anyway.
"But the bad guys will just get the guns illegally..." I hear you say. Okay, owning that weapon is illegal. If they're caught with it, they can be arrested for that instead of getting all the way to mass murder. It would also be harder for people to acquire said weapon, reducing the number of mass shootings over all.
Gun culture in the US has melted people's brains. I swear. No one wants to take all your pew pews, we're just tired of mass casualties. MANY OF THEM LITERAL CHILDREN.
In four paragraphs, you never actually said what policies you want. "More gun control" doesn't mean anything on its own, unless you don't actually care about what policies get implement and are simply trying to create outrage. You are literally the stereotype of someone calling for "common sense gun control" and then not bothering to define what that is because that would make it harder for them to rely on emotional blunt force as the only thing they have to "prove" their point.
"common sense gun control" = "we have to pass it before you know what it entails."
