The police officer at the desk held up the meticulously filled out papers as to return them to you, though you could only stare down at your own mocking handwriting. Looking down to the seated officer, you could feel the heated tears start to return. “How... how can you say that? I filled everything out. By hand. I told you what he did...”

“But, he’s a hero...”

Those words made you feel like you swallowed a pound of hot lead, the sickening feeling making your face pale. The policeman noticed and quickly went on. “What I mean is that since there’s no eyewitness accounts, it’s just your word against his and because he’s a well known hero in this city and you-“

“And I’m just a quirkless nurse so my word means nothing.” The frustration inside you started to bubble into a sickened rage. “That shouldn’t matter! My word should be enough! He’s been harassing me for almost two years now and I... I just don’t know what to do!”

The officer sighed, his eyes closing a moment before looking back at you. “Get some security cameras, record your phone conversations, do what you can to get some solid evidence for us.” The look in his dark blue eyes was a tired kind of sympathy which you realized was in full support of you, not because of you. It was then you knew ultimately he was right. There just wasn’t anything more he could do.

Nodding your head as you brushed a runaway tear from your cheek, you took the forms back and held them close against your chest. “Thank you, officer. I’ll do that.”

“Ma’am?” His gentle comforting voice made you pause before turning around. “Stay safe out there.”

Before you knew it, the corners of your lips pulled up into a weak grin. “Thank you.” And that time you meant the words.

Watching you leave the precinct with your head down and body so drawn in on itself, the officer’s eyes narrowed in anger. His hands went to the thick tires at his sides and pulled himself away from the desk. Steering the wheelchair to the secluded evidence room, he pulled a disposable cellphone out of his pocket and hit the only number saved in it.

“I got a job for you.”

Dabi wasn’t a huge fan of the holiday season.

The bitter cold of winter seemed to perfectly match his mood as he walked the crowded city street. His irritation grew as the holiday shoppers he passed happily smiled at the lazily falling snow while he cursed the flurries that soaked through his frayed and too-thin jacket.

Unfortunately, he had to scourge up some dinner and that meant getting out of the frozen hotel. The cheap rate he paid for the room was evident in the “heater” that only blasted cold air and the blanket that was as thin as the sheets. It was only barely better than sleeping out on the street, really.

While most people correctly assumed people who had fire quirks had naturally warm bodies, Dabi just had to be the exception. He was made aware from a very young age that his body was more suitable to contain his mother’s quirk and not his father’s. He got sick more often and easier than his siblings, though that was nothing compared to how scar tissue ended up covering nearly half of his body.

That inner cold was just as bad as the outer when thoughts of his past drifted through his mind as he noticed the happy families among the crowd. A small boy was hoisted onto his father’s shoulders as his mittened hands reached to the falling snow. It could have been a nice and serene scene for anyone else, not causing a painful ache that settled in his chest.

Shoving his hands further into the pockets of his jacket with a soft sniff, his lips set into a straight line as he tried to focus solely on grabbing some hot and affordable ramen. The yatai was almost in view and would have at least give him about an hour of warmth.

“Dabi?”

A different kind of warmth, resonating from deep inside, washed through him as a familiar voice called out to him. Rather, to the new name he made for himself only a few months ago.

Turning toward the voice and pausing his journey, he couldn’t help the slight grin that pulled at his scarred lips as he spotted you outside the coffee shop where you worked and the two of you first met. He didn’t think twice about abandoning his journey to head over to the small shop where you had appeared to be closing up.

“Good evening, m’lady.” With a light dip of his head, he found it easier to put on a more cheerful front despite lightly shivering from now standing still.

The light frown on your face told him you clearly didn’t buy it, however. “Headed to the ramen stand?” You mimicked the nod of confirmation before glancing to the door of the coffee shop over your shoulder. “That’s too bad, then. The owner just dropped me off some curry for closing up for her but it’s kind of a lot...”

Dabi’s brow rose at the blatantly unsubtle suggestion and couldn’t help the quiet laugh that clouded into the cold air. “I have to admit curry does sound more tempting. Along with better company.”

“I have to warn you, though. I’ll probably make you help out with the leftover closing stuff.”

Only knowing Dabi for about a month with a handful of meetings, you were aware of him enough to know he wasn’t in a great situation at the moment. It kept him hanging around the shop nursing a plain black coffee for as long as he could. Any previous offer to stay longer were regarded longer and longer with each visit, though ultimately declined in the end. You didn’t push for his life’s story, and it was easy to tell from the small grateful smiles that he was respected you for it.

“Deal.” A more genuine smile pulled at the line piercings on his cheek as you pushed the door open with your shoulder and waved him inside.

The smell of coffee complimented the warmth that instantly enveloped him after stepping inside. Brushing snow from his dark hair, he turned to watch as you headed to the counter where a large hotpot was placed.

He was unable to contain the small smile present through eating the hot homemade meal, or during the light conversation the two of you shared.

The coldness from the memories of past and the miserable night melted away from him as hours easily passed by. After eating, he was happy to help wipe down counters and put dishes away after you cleaned them.

After checking your phone for the time and noting it was nearly time to catch your train, your gaze shifted to the door that led to small office in back.

“We have a couch here, it’s actually pretty comfortable...”

Dabi had slipped up in mentioning the hotel where he was staying - if it could even be called that. Knowing the temperature was going to drop as the night went on, it pained you to think of him trying to even get warm in that terrible place.

He grinned and your name fell from his lips in a sigh. “Thank you for the great meal and company, but I couldn’t...”

“Aw, come on. I have to come in early tomorrow to open, anyway.”

“Well... maybe I can help you with that.” Though his shoulder lifted lazily, you could see the gratefulness that light up his turquoise eyes.

Pulling a large blanket and pillow from the cabinet, the bedding that was cleaned and left for when the owners grandchildren visited, you set Dabi up and were about to head out before he called you back.

“Stay warm out there.” His gentle hands wrapped your scarf around your neck, pulling up and fanning your hair over it. Pausing a moment after he made a silent decision, his lean frame leaned down to press his warmed lips on your forehead. “Thank you.”

It had taken all of three minutes before Dabi was in a deep and dreamless sleep, filled with more inner warmth than his quirk could ever produce.

That “one time” deal began a routine and even a job for him at the coffee house when he found out the owner left you with far more responsibilities than you let on. It was more than enough to earn the comfortable couch in the office and the beautiful silver necklace he presented with you on Christmas Day.

Wearing the long and warm jacket you had presented him with, he pointed out the mistletoe he hung the night before. Your first kiss lead to many others, as did the following holidays he once condemned as “just another day”.

That first Christmas with you, so perfect and warm, would always live on in his heart while slowly taking over all the terrible ones before it.

“Will you be careful?!” The Number Two Hero, Hawks, angrily snapped at the taller man who was wincing and rubbing his head.

“Sorry I’m not normal human sized!” Endeavor threw back before spotting the woman watering the plants outside her store. “Hello, ma’am. Nice day today.” His voice deepened to a growl, making Hawks groan loudly.

“Just go!”

Once they were out of earshot, the winged hero sighed heavily. “I do not talk like that! It sounds like you’re about to start barking.”

“Hmm... so I’m doing it right?” “Endeavor” grinned playfully, making “Hawks” scowl deeper. “Hey, don’t do that to my face! You’re going to give me frown lines.”

“Hawks, listen. I want to ride out this cursed Quirk as painless as possible.” The shorter male stopped walking to look up at his own body, truly an unnerving experience. “That means not running my head into door frames.”

“At least you weren’t present for it.” Hawks-Endeavor muttered, rubbing at the light red mark. “Oh, I’ll have to text you on how to take care of my wings for tonight. You gotta preen them or th-“

“I will do no such thing!” Endeavor heard his voice, which was Hawks’, nearly squawk in indignation. “You can do it after you got this... very tiny body back.”

“Normal sized body! Ya giant.” Hawks laughed, reaching up to touch a store sign which he could only normally do with the use of his wings. Speaking of. “Come on, you’re seriously not going to give them a spin? I know you do the ‘falling with style’ thing, but you have to give flying a chance!”

“This isn’t some fun experiment, Hawks.” Enji muttered. “Though, I shouldn’t walk everywhere and draw suspicion since you have to show off constantly.”

“Hey! I... no, yeah, I do kinda do that.”

Watching the smirky grin spread on his own face that was remarkably very Hawks-like made Enji shudder slightly.

It had only been an hour when the top two heroes stopped a villain on their way to a meeting at Enji’s office to discuss the League of Villains. When they were unable to tell the arresting officer they weren’t in their own bodies, Enji as Hawks demanded the villain tell them about his Quirk.

“It wouldn’t be as fun if you were actually able to tell others about this situation.” The body-swapping villain smirked and Hawks as Endeavor had to hold his own body back from pummeling the cocky villain.

He did at least inform the heroes that it would take up to a full twenty-four hours to wear off and they resigned to just deal with it until then. After leaving the scene, the two decided to head back to Enji’s office to hide out until the Quirk wore off.

“I freed up my day to come here, so I don’t have much to cancel.” Hawks stated as he held up one of Enji’s hands to play with the small flame that danced over it. “I’m just glad you stopped doing that flame-mask, I don’t th-AHHH!”

“What?!”

When Hawks jumped backwards in Enji’s body in attempt to become airborne which nearly caused him to fall on his ass, Enji inadvertently made Hawks’ wings splay out wide behind him. He looked to where his own eyes were glued in horror near his feet to see a small black cat that was nearing the naturally warm body.

“Are you kidding me?” Enji sighed as Hawks awkwardly tried to escape the mewling cat.

Narrowing his eyes at his own body, looking more like Enji than he had since the swap, though he ruined the effect with an embarrassed blush. “Sh-shut up! You try to be a child with wings which apparently looks like a feast to these beasts!”

Enji couldn’t stop the slight chuckle at that, even if it came at watching his own large body sidestepping away from a tiny cat. “You’re not going to shake it, Hawks. Felines love warm Todoroki bodies.”

“No, no, no...” Hawks muttered, really missing his wings right now. “Stop laughing!” He could be amused later that he actually made Endeavor laugh after he put out the flames that started moving along his shoulders.

While Enji was throughly enjoying the fuzzy form of torture, he noticed the few people occupying the small street coming out of the row of shops to see the top heroes. “Come here.” His tone sounded even softer with Hawks’ voice when he picked the cat up. “And you, lets get to my office before we attract the entire city.”

Hawks was about to say something as he watched himself pick the cat up but smirked instead as he watched Enji place the cat up on a low wall next to a bakery. Brushing off the heavy jacket to dislodge the inky colored fur, Enji turned to Hawks before pausing at the sudden itchy irritation in his eyes. “Wh...”

His questioning was put on pause as the prickly feeling moved downwards, gloves hands coming up to catch a violent sneeze, wings splaying out at the same time. “Ugh! You’re allergic to the damn things too?!” Enji thankfully already removed the visor, glad for it now as a wrist rubbed at Hawks’ watering eyes.

“Oh, did I forget to mention that?” Hawks smirked as he watched himself suffering without having to be the one to go through it. “Come on, Endeavor-San. You’re starting to make a scene.” A deep chuckle sounded at the incredulous look on his own face, feeling much better now as he walked down the road. “Hello citizens! Nothing to see here. Just torturing the very talented Winged Hero.” Instead of the growing sounds he made before, Hawks used a cheerfully boisterous tone and Enji couldn’t tell which was worse.

“Will you stop that?!” Enji caught up to the waving hero, trying to blink back the tears gathering in his eyes. The number one hero was now absolutely certain this was going the most tortuous twenty-four hours of his life.

Telling Dabi that your doctor had confirmed the dual blue lines on the numerous plastic sticks you purchased was even scarier than waiting for the results. Not that you were scared of him since you knew he’d never hurt you, but parenthood wasn’t exactly on the agenda of villains. At worst you thought it would be the last time you’d see him and would have to face this huge life changing situation alone.

“I’m going to be a dad?”

The quiet question that put more emotion in those turquoise eyes than you’d ever seen before wasn’t even one of the scenarios that played in your head.

It was just one surprise after another after that; the pampering care he provided during your pregnancy to finding the best doctor to deliver you child into the world. Dabi never left you wanting even if you were a bit hesitant on accepting the small but nice house far from Tokyo.

His pampering didn’t stop at pregnancy things, however. More and more he began to open himself up to you, explaining why he decided to join the League and follow Stain’s ideals. It wasn’t until your last few weeks of pregnancy did he tell you his father was Japan’s number one hero and what kind of rough childhood he had growing up.

“He’s trying to fix things now from what I hear, but it’s too late for me.” He muttered softly one night while he was curled at your side, half-burnt hand caressing the baby bump lovingly. You held back on correcting him and instead comforted him with gentle hair petting.

He stayed with you constantly at the end which payed out when he was at your side when labor started. The doctor the two of you picked out was called to the small house so Dabi was also able to be present for the birth of your son. After a successful delivery, the doctor took the baby from you to clean up and hand to Dabi.

When your child grasped his finger tightly, it was the first time you saw Dabi freely cry.

At first, you weren’t sure if things would go back to the way they were with Dabi working for the League most of the time and seeing you as often as he could. It turned out it was the complete opposite with him only going back to the League when he was absolutely needed. And sometimes not even then.

“I have much bigger priorities now than your downfall of the hero society, Shigaraki.” Dabi quietly seethed over the phone, unaware that you walked into the room after putting your son to bed. “Yes, I need the money but I need to be here in one piece more.” His hand ran through his hair in an irritated motion, sighing heavily.

Dealing with his double life, you attempted to easen the burden one night while he was feeding the baby. Moving the rocking chair with his long legs with a peaceful smile on his scarred face, you ran a hand through his hair before sitting on the footstool in front of him.

“I think I have a plan.” You tried to contain your excitement, still unsure how he’d take to it. Telling him about a great job opportunity you received that would keep you full time but would free him up to spend that time with his child so you wouldn’t have to rely on Shigaraki anymore...

“That sounds like a dream I didn’t know I had.” Dabi smiled at you and then down at the sleeping infant, his free hand brushing over the short red strands on top of his head that already started growing. “I’ve done so many terrible things, I still don’t think I deserve him. Or you.”

When gaze shifted back to you, you leaned forward to kiss his burnt lower lip. “You have a loving heart that has been through a lot before us, Touya. Of course you deserve us. You just need to heal yourself next.”

He knew what you were referring to and he also knew that even if his ideal family now consisted of only you and your son and any more possible children down road, he still had to properly put his past behind him. For not only the sake of himself but for his child and the future he’d pave for him.

Five years had passed and Dabi was carefully monitoring the fire Quirk your son had inherited. There was no rigorous training or pushing to do the impossible, only to make sure his child was safe.

The letter he received two years ago from his father had given him some good pointers for carefully training a fire Quirk, all of them turning out very helpful. While it was still awkward exchanges and a secret Enji lived up to keeping, Dabi actually felt positive about it. It wasn’t too saccharine a lifestyle, but it was normal and he found he enjoyed every moment of it.

“Make sure you always keep the heat down so you don’t hurt yourself.” Dabi grinned at the red haired boy, his own growing back out to match in color.

Waddling onto your porch, you smiled at the scene before you while placing a hand over your extended stomach. “Hey, you two. Dinner’s here.” As your son raced by you to clean up after hugging you hello, but Dabi walked up slower, a bandaged hand sliding over the growing second child before kissing you gently.

“Welcome home.”

It wasn’t like Midoriya at all to drink like that, which was concerning in itself. After a few minutes of sitting there listening to the bumping around and quiet cursing, you stood up and were about to rescue the pro hero from himself before hearing him calm out.

“Okay! I’m ready! Are you still sitting there?”

“Yeah...” You answered, returning to the edge of the bed, really nervous at this point.

The speaker on the side of the bed began to play, no doubt controlled by him, to a slow and rather sexy song. Your brows knitted in confusion before the doors to the closet opened, and your jaw nearly hit the floor.

Midoriya slid a bit unbalanced out wearing a pair of tight black boxer-briefs, his hero’s cape and nothing else.

Feeling the familiar pressure on his chest made him stir quickly. That wonderful feeling of you close to him was what kept him fighting for his life after that terrible attack.

It all started during the very first training session where the two of you were squared off against each other. The rules were simple, much like American “Flag Football” (as All Might was overseeing the class), whoever snatched the three colored flags worn around their opponents waist was the winner.

Todoroki tried to watch you closely after starting, ready to catch you carefully in his ice for an easy win. He was a far more cautious than usual when using his Quirk since he knew the cold could hurt and didn’t want you to suffer it longer than needed.

The moment he took his eyes off you with just a simple blink, you had your in!

Everything moved in a pace where time seemed to stop when your Quirk activated. Going up to him to take one of his flags, you noticed a sudden pink color very slowly raising to his cheeks, his eyes staring to shift where you were. Grinning, you ruffled the white and crimson strands together before rushing away from the inevitable ice that was soon to follow.

Your watching classmates could only see the sudden fluffing of his hair and the intense blush he was now sporting. The girls all giggled wildly as the guys laughed at the clearly flustered Todoroki.

It was made worse when he managed to catch you in a frozen prison, calmly walking up with a tiny smile.

“That was pretty impressive.” When his hand reached out, he didn’t go immediately for the flags on your belt but went to ruffle your hair in retaliation.

That display just set all your classmates into wild giggles, even the tall teacher smiled at how cute the action was. Especially since it came from a Todoroki!

After Shouto unfroze you, he made you blush slightly by looking you over to make sure you were alright. “It’s not because I think your weak!” He explained, his own light pink blush darkening slightly. “I didn’t think anyone would get flag off me.”

Feeling pretty proud that Todoroki Shouto gave you a compliment, the two of you started back to the observation area together.

“I’d really like to train with you more,” his normally steady voice was a bit shaken which prompted him to clear his throat. “If you want to.”

After agreeing with him, the two of you became regular training partners. You helped him quicken his Quirk while he did the same for you. You found it pretty easy to fluster him, especially the time you wore lipstick to plant a kiss on his cheek when you slipped by him.

When the training session ended and the kiss mark was still bright on his cheek, you figured you’d give him a bit of a break and let him know it was there before he went back into school.

His fingers lifted to his cheek but didn’t touch it, instead smiling slightly. “Maybe next time you can give me a proper kiss.” He flashed a very rare and honest smile at you before walking inside the building, leaving you speechless.

“Did we ever come up with a meshed couple name for them yet?” Kaminari asked Mina as they watched from the dorm window with matching devious grins.

Shaking her head, Mina giggled as you snapped out of the sudden stupor and rushed to catch up with him. “Not yet, but it looks like we’re really going to need it now!”
