Compilation of snail factoids that I gathered from the Lifeforms and Culture book
(minus some stuff that Im not able to properly translate in my head so hopefully someone else can cover for me) (they did, heres a rough translation of the whole book) (this is way more lore than I hoped for even after lowering my expectations *heavy breathing*)
admirabilis primarily resided in the earth’s Southern Hemisphere before migrating to the moon
thought to have originated 10,000-20,000 years after the extinction of humans
small mollusk forms primarily for traveling long distances, true forms for everyday life; shells are internalized when assuming true form and the rest of their bodies are mostly muscle
omnivorous; primarily eat seaweed and algae for nutrients (and sand to strengthen their shells) but will eat meat as a supplement ((apparently this includes small sharks?!))
admirabilis governance is strictly passed on through royal heritage
most of their kings throughout history have been female, whoever is to be the next king grows a “crown” formation on her head (the figures on the left are actually of a “young king”)
the species reproduces sexually and the male:female ratio is 1:1000 (boys are raised with extra care because of their rarity)
females are also able to lay hundreds of eggs at once
admirabilis used to compete with their natural enemy, the giant squid, for breeding territory, before they went extinct due to climate changes
before the famine when cannibalism was normalized, their population peaked at 1 billion due to a high fertility rate
presently, lunarians have observed 8 separate groups of admirabilis roaming the earth
