My mom just said something to me that really got to me

So I stopped seeing my psychologist about 2 months ago and my mom is telling me to go back to seeing her if I still don't feel well and I said that the whole reason why I stopped seeing the psychologist is because I wanted to be normal. I didn't want to be broken anymore. I wanted to be like so many other people I see that don't have to battle with depression, anxiety, and self harm. Somehow they're able to go on living without a problem and I'm just so fucking envious of it. My mom then told me something that just really hit home for me She said that I wasn't broken that it's just like cars. Some cars keep on going without a problem for years and keep running fine without any major problems but other cars have a lot of work that needs to be done but that doesn't make them any less than any other car. It's just how they were made and that there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. No one ever questions it about cars, they just accept that some cars go through more than other cars and need more work.

Starting to see some online criticism of the upcoming Disney flick, Moana, for cultural appropriation.

If anyone takes five minutes to look it up online, they can find out that the film’s script was originally drafted by New Zealand Maori film-maker, Taika Waititi. The film-makers then made multiple trips to consult with Pacific Islanders in Tahiti and Tonga to refine the film. On top of that, a team of Tahitians were taken on board as an advisory council.

People call out for more representation, and rightly so. 

But then when it happens, there are immediate cries of appropriation without knowing these sorts of details.

I haven’t done much research on this movie yet, but even the casting of voice actors were appropriate. Auli'i Cravalho (Moana) is Hawaiian. Dwayne The Rock Johnson (Maui) is Samoan. I went on IMDb and looked at the voice actors’ backgrounds, and 3 actors are from New Zealand. The only white person credited so far is Alan Tudyk (and he’s a great voice actor so I ain’t even mad)
