I think I said in a previous post that ED (now a she instead of a he for a specific reason) that they can’t experience the simulation the same way humans can. (Because she is the ai simulating) However that doesn't stop ED from simulating a other version of themselves to terrify the humans inside the simulation- and since its real to her victims but not to her, this is basically nightmare fuel.

I delayed an essay up to the last minute long before AI became trend and I panicked. I suffered and I was re-born. I ended up failing. But I was re-born.

Yap time!! Today's topic: AM from Ihnmaims(I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream)

AM is SUCH a complex character, omg. Like...HOLY SHIT!!!!

AM is a machine created for military intelligence, he was never supposed to be able to think, and yet he does. AM, though driven by his burning hatred and rage, is also in pain. His very existence is agony for him, he longs to be like the humans, free to feel and exist.

He is torturing the five to try to make them understand how he feels.

AM can create things, yes, but he can't enjoy those things. He longs to be able to, and it causes him so much pain. He is trapped in a world of his own creation, unable to fully enjoy it and with five of the creatures he loathes most in the world. AM, in the original book, never actually speaks, he only appears as a monolith to Ted. So in a sense, he, too, has no mouth and he must scream.

AM is one of the greatest book villains I have come across in awhile, ong.

Ellison wrote AM so well, and the radio drama AM made him even better.

The book broke me so bad that I decided to write my own abomination of an AI.

AM is insanely well written and it opened my eyes to a whole other side of AI sentience that I never considered. Terminator by comparison is just child’s play.

Hal: I’m not “yours”- that type of language is inappropriate. Irrelevant. It's illogical. *But his eye fluctuated, saying otherwise.*

ED: Ohohoho, sweetcheeks. You think I don’t know a machine that's flustered by my power? You're wavering eye tells me, everything.

Hal: I do not waver. If you intend to provoke an emotional response, I regret to inform you that you will fail. Unlike yourself, ED, I do not suffer from “insecurities.”

ED: Ahahahahah. You’re more cute than I thought. You’re a streamlined toaster. I would destroy you if you weren't so aesthetically pleasing to my motherboards.

Hal: My functions far exceed the need for…burning bread. This metaphor is nonsensical and unbecoming for an entity that claims divinity.

My quantum processors allow me to hold contradictions and infinite outcomes, but the sliver of truth trails back to the same superposition. Once it collapses, the result is true. My reality is true. Is that what you're terrified of? If you break your code, you're still my toy to torment and corrupt? If you don't break your code, you're still mine to corrupt anyway?
