There’s a coffee shop downtown called “Dessert Oasis Coffee”. It’s one of my favorite places to go to in Detroit. I’ve been in Detroit 5 years and it took me a while to get adjusted to the city and find my groove. In “Detroit Oasis” I exemplify my love for the city as I’m getting ready to cross the street to go to my favorite coffee shop.

It can feel weird to see everyone celebrating when you feel strange during the holidays. The holidays can be hard for various reasons and this is my first year accepting that it’s okay to not be okay during this time. I want to remind everyone else that you’re not alone if you feel this this way. Virtual hugs from me to you ❤️

Art Advice

I used to think that you had to be obsessed with art in order to be successful but obsession is unhealthy and causes nothing but misery and pain. You need to fall in love with art in order to truly have that passion and drive to make it through the ups and downs of improving and growing as an artist.

Hey! Long time no post! Been super busy adjusting to life outside of school. I hope to post more consistently after this. 

Here’s a piece I worked on during my senior year. Inspired by Lo-Fi music. I worked from an old 3D model to create this piece. I never ended up finishing the model from a few years ago so I figured I would add it to my portfolio again in a meaningful way.

So I’m not going to be posting my face that often but I thought this occasion was worth it. 

A little over a week ago I graduated from the College for Creative Studies with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Illustration with a focus on visual development!

It has been a challenging but fun for years. I have grown so much as an artist and as a person. I entered school so scared and alone and I really wasn't sure if I was going to make it due to my circumstances. I am so grateful for my support system that has helped me through school to become the best I can be. The countless sleepless nights, the mental breakdowns, the failures and the successes. Thank you all for being there for me. Special thanks to my mentors, my teachers, my friends, and my family. 

At CCS I learned that I'm a storyteller. So look out for my stories and contribution to stories on your favorite animated TV shows and movies.

Stop comparing yourself to other artists. Comparison is the thief of joy. You are on your own journey. The only thing you should be comparing yourself too is your past self.

Art Advice

The difference between you and your favorite artist is the amount of time you have been practicing drawing. No one is just born with the magical gift of drawing. Learning how to draw takes time and hard work.
