I volunteer at a wildlife rehabilitation center! This lil baby gnatcatcher is one of our patients and will be released when they are able to feed themself, as currently they need to be hand fed every 15 minutes due to being So Smol

Diederik Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx caprius) (x x x x x)

Like many species of cuckoo, the Diederik cuckoo is a brood parasite! That means females lay their eggs in the nests of other bird species. These birds can’t count, so they have no idea they have an extra egg in their nest. Then, the cuckoo chick hatches before the other chicks and pushes the remaining eggs from the nest. The unwitting parents then raise the cuckoo chick as their own, and the cuckoo mother doesn’t have to bother expending energy on her own offspring. What a deadbeat.
