I'm watching Last Twilight again, even tho I have lots of BLs series that I have to watch yet (no, I'm not even slightly ashamed of myself)
And episode one got me in the feeling all over again (like always, that's why it is one of my absolute favourite series🤷🏻)
But in peculiar this scene
Every time I watch this scene, I can't stop myself from marveling at P'Aof work of art that this series is. (Nothing to take from Ticket to Heaven or any other work, since the all are absolute masterpieces, but in my most personal and biased opinion, Last Twilight is always going to be one of the best works of Noppharnach Chaiyahwimhon)
And this scene is one of the many "whys" it is so in my opinion.
When Mhok starts reading the book Day asked him to pick up and read.
Day recognises it in an instant and smiles
But here, he smirks, the irony is that Mhok, not only chooses a book with a story dear to Day, but Day recognises the irony in the scene Mhok is reading is very similar to the one of him and Day.
That's why he smirks at hearing him say "I am a fox" (at least I like to think so)
He continues the scene, either to make Mhok realise this or just to show off
Mhok at first looks surprised and amused, but to me it's like he realises that too and plays along with Day
This doesn't seem like he's just going back to read, because when he looked down on the page before reading aloud, he smirks...
Like he just realised how relatable the whole thing is to the situation and says the next lines like a warning for Day
But Day smirks like he's thinking "You know shit, I'll show you"
He says the next lines like he is the one now to warn Mhok
It's like Day is saying to Mhok "even tho I don't have eyes now, doesn't mean I don't have a way to read someone's heart, to understand if they are either good or not."
When Day says the book's title and the chapter that Mhok read, he says it with conviction and superiority
To show Mhok he isn't one who "doesn't know shit"
Mhok instead checks if he's right and can't contain the smile for the smart mouth who keeps on getting on his nerves since their first encounter
Right here, in this scene, one can see that this is going to be one of the most epic and heartbreaking stories ever told
And that is one of my many "whys" this series is a masterpiece that had conquered a little space in my heart and will be forever integrated in my soul ❤️💜💚
