The editing of this video is hysterical and genius- they switch between so many editing styles to reflect exactly what kind of thing they're going for in each segment its GREAT.

i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
Trap-jaw ants use their powerful mandibles to launch themselves into the air away from potential predators or intruders. This one was filmed at 3000 frames per second and then played back in slow motion. Patek lab, Duke University.

NEEDLE FELTING?????
in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
My understanding is that the cut funding from Durham council was £2,500 - the trade union donations raised in response were worth £25,000
idk if this is an usamerican thing or not but it always blows my mind as a small european country resident that yall have many names and types of apples???? what do you mean its not just red yellow or green??? why is it so complicated??? who is granny smith????

welcome to the icelandic apple selection. what color will you have
okay so APPEARANTLY this is just an iceland thing? i looked it up and we dont grow apples here commercially. we get them imported and there's such few options that the stores rarely bother to name them. thats why, culturally, we just call them by colors.
i feel like we all learned something today. i learned that im hungry for apples with names and you learned that iceland is 3 apples tall. the world continues to surprise and enlighten
UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA: HOME OF THE HONEYCRISPPPPP. EVERYONE SAY THANK YOU UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA FOR ALL OF THE HONEYCRISPPPPP. OKAY NOW THAT THAT'S OUT OF THE WAY,
The reason apples are so complicated is because apple genetics are really unpredictable so if you grow an apple tree from seed, there's a really good chance you're gonna end up with something nasty. So, to make sure you get something that doesn't taste like garbage, apple trees are mostly propagated by graft. You like what a tree is making? You take a graft of that tree. The wide variety of apple characteristics and the fact that most apples are grown as clones means apple varieties lend themselves to creative & specialized cultivation and patenting of results. So there are many varieties and they have fun names.
I'm curious what your three Icelandic apple varieties are. If they're imported I suspect they're found globally in large numbers, so they probably have specific names. Probably not honeycrisp tho, because those are not great for transport. Sorry about that.
This is also why more and better apple varieties are being made over time as we get better at engineering agriculture, and why a lot of apple varieties come from universities. As I was already not normal about, Honeycrisp was developed at the University of Minnesota and released in 1991. Snap Dragon was developed at Cornell University and released in 2013. Cosmic Crisp was developed at Washington State University and released in 2019. Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, and Red Delicious are much older varieties. Most people prefer the newer varieties that were cultivated with university and government level research.

A rule change pushed by White House officials would slash benefits or end support for as many as 400,000 Supplemental Security Income recipi
The Trump administration wants to make a rule change that would decrease or end benefits for SSI recipients who live with their family. As many as 400,000 disabled people may have their benefits cut if this rule change occurs.
It's worth noting as always that as things currently stand, the MAXIMUM benefit a person can receive from SSI is $994 a month.
If two people on SSI are married, the MAXIMUM they can receive is $1,491 a month, total, for both of them. (Meaning marriage to another SSI recipient reduces your maximum income possible to $745 a person each month.)
Could you live on that?
Could you live on that without living with family?
what if I just made my profile picture a male calico cat or something. hurm
Could I suggest a picture of Dawntreader Texas Calboy? He is a beautiful male calico cat who is a chimera. He's also somewhat controversial among some cat fancy associations since he is a male cat with female colors, and some people are strangely transphobic towards him, despite him being a cat? There was even a rule implemented to keep him from competing in a cat show. If you look up his name, he made a few news articles.
Oh my god?????
Yeah you're right about beautiful I'm squeezing him until he pops!!!!! I love this guy I think I'm going to make an edit real quickly Calboy I love you I'm so sorry people are calling you a freak??????
