I find this hilariously insulting as a manager who is constantly trying to update a building over 200 years old.

Yeah, the past owners were really actively against disabled, cars, and anything but cowboys and horses and the short of shit that it was built for.

Never mind the fact that racism is within a person and not blocked behind 10s of thousands of dollars.

So I’m a part of the problem when my business doesn’t have 360,000$ to dig up the whole front porch made of wood that’s also 200+ years old that will effect the rest of the building at this point? Leading into more repairs that are quoted at well over a million in total?

Oh. And we’re mom and pop. We don’t have cooperate backing for this shit. It’s 7000$ in sales DAILY to make ends meet and just break even and keep the door open. No profit. You get that? Do you know how much sales that is per server in a 4 hour shift? Bet not. Yeah, food prices are high and entrees at my restaurant are between 18-23$. Figure it out how busy we have to be. How many people we have to serve. Think about the economy right now. How little we are ALL making.

There’s no way we can do anything about this any time soon. My staff is trained to be as accommodating and helpful as they’re comfortable and we are honest about struggles that may be had on the phone. And not a single disabled person there has been upset with us. And we deal in the older crowd so let me say, 80% or our customers are 60+. There’s a lot of mobility issues.

I’m sorry but this shit boils my fucking blood when a business is trying it’s DAMNDEST and then some stupid comment that is so ignorant to the actual situation comes up.

Are there business were there is no excuse? Sure. But look at cooperations. Mom and pops rarely can afford the repairs like that these days when they’re up against standard USE maintenance. Which if you’re curious, the C02 just fucked up at my bar recently and we dropped 30k on everything involved in that. Because we HAD TO.

Yes, I would love to make my 200 year old building infinitely more accessible, but I also don’t have unlimited pockets. I’m sorry training my staff to be polite and help where needed isn’t appreciated.

And for as much as folks run their mouths about the bad, there are those who need to run their mouth for trying too. Not every business is made of millions and are so callously out of touch with reality, though I know america would have us believe otherwise.

TLDR:

Not all of us are bad people. America is just like EA games and everything is behind a paywall. Including your access ramp.

PORGLETTE APPRECIATION UNDER THE CUT

She has big dark eyes and a cute little belly. The first time he referred to her as his little porglette, Fennec could barely stifle her laughter.

“She’s not even yours, boss.”

“Not yet.”

She was bartending for Garsa in a long white off the shoulder dress with a slit in the skirt up to her hip. Boba Fett was making the rounds with Fennec in his capacity as the Daimyo, but Garsa knew his frequent visits were in no small part thanks to her chubby little bartender. She figured her twiggy twi’lek host or hostess would catch the Daimyo’s eye - she made that gamble the day he first walked in to introduce himself - but he seemed far more interested in the bubbly, fleshy girl she’d hired to make drinks and chat up customers. The Daimyo was a sucker for her dimples and pink apple cheeks and Garsa - ever the opportunist - decided to see what kind of price she’d fetch.

“5,000 credits and you can have her for the palace.”

“She is not a slave, Garsa. I could offer her better wages and steal her from you,” he replied, coolly.

“5,000 to buy her out of her contract,” Garsa countered.

Normally, he’d have bargained. Had she been a ship or a bantha, he’d have talked Garsa down. Instead, he took the deal and paid handsomely to both buy his little porglette out of her employment agreement with Garsa and hire her to work at the palace full time.

She made a fine serving girl, and Boba was pleased that her flirty demeanor was not at all diminished by the change of venue. She wore only as much clothing as necessary and frequently sat on the arm of his throne when she brought him drinks on Tribute Day. He had to make a conscious effort not to let her exposed thigh distract him from the tasks at hand.

He was, of course, the only person in the palace permitted to call her porglette, with the notable exception of Fennec who only did so respectfully.

“Come here to me, Porglette, and sit on your Daimyo’s lap.” He patted his thigh and waved her over. She did as she was told and smiled contently as he wrapped an arm around her and rested a hand on her thigh. It was an especially long Tribute Day, and he punctuated each sentence with a squeeze to the top of her thigh or her belly or waist. Occasionally he’d absentmindedly slide a hand under the slit of her skirt and rub the juncture of her hip and thigh with his thumb. For her part, she remained relaxed and content. Bartending at Garsa’s was a good gig but sitting in a powerful, handsome, strong man’s lap was a considerable step up. He was kind to his vassals and servants, respectful to his adversaries, and possessed of a business-like quality of mercy.

At the end of an arduous Tribute Day, he slapped her on the butt as she stood up from his lap hard enough to make her squeal.

“Get upstairs, Porglette, and wait for me in my chambers.”

She smiled and dashed up the stairs towards his bedroom.

I got this comment on a story from my Other AO3 Account this morning.

(Info redacted because I prefer keeping these accounts separate but no one follows me on the side blog I have for that account.)

The story was posted almost a year ago and is relatively “popular” by my average statistics even though it has tropes and themes that are big turnoffs for a lot of people (hence separate accounts). This popularity is undoubtedly because it’s a Marvel Loki story and that fandom is massive.

So there is obviously an algorithm or a bot scrubbing ao3 statistics and leaving this comment on fics that meet a certain metric with the main character of the fic inserted into the comment.

I had a little time to kill this morning so I decided to investigate further. And y’all this is so predatory. Come on this journey with me. It made me mad. It may make you mad.

First, if you go to Webnovel’s website, you HAVE to choose between male lead or female lead stories before you can go any further. WTF?

And that’s weird, but this gets so much worse. This is basically a pay-to-read site that has different subscription models. Which… okay BUT! The authors don’t get paid! Look at that comment again. They’re promising a supportive and nurturing community, but zero monetary compensation. It’s basically, “post your stuff here so we can get paid and you can get… nice vibes?” I mean look at this Orwellian writing:

Using the phrase “pay-to-read model” in the same sentence as “qualitative changes in lifestyles for authors” deliberately makes you think that you can get paid and maybe even make a living on this website. But that’s not actually what it says and authors will not receive one red cent.

Oh but wait, the worst is still to come. In case this breaks containment (which I kind of hope it does) this is where I mention that I’m a lawyer in the US.

I don’t do intellectual property or copyright law but I do read and write contracts for a living. So I went to look at their terms of service. It was fun!

Highlights the first, in which Webnovel gets a license to do basically whatever they want with content you post on their site. This is how they get to be paid for people reading authors’ writing without paying them anything.

Highlights the second, in which Webnovel takes no responsibility for illegally profiting off of fan fic. This all says that the writer is 100% responsible for everything the writer posts (even though only Webnovel is making money from it).

Highlights the third which say that by posting, the author is representing that they have the legal right to use and to let Webnovel use the content according to these terms. So if a writer posts fan fiction and Webnovel makes money from people reading the fan fiction, and the House of the Mouse catches wise, these sections say that that’s ALL on the writer.

So that’s a little skeevy to start off with but the thing that is seriously shitty and made me make this post was that these assholes are coming to ao3. They are actively recruiting people in comments on their fan fiction. And they are saying they are big fans of the character you’re writing about and that they share your interests.

They are recruiting fan fiction writers and giving every impression that you can make money from posting fan fiction on their site and hiding the fact that you absolutely cannot but they can make money off of you while you try, deep in their terms of service which no one but a lawyer who writes fan fic and has some time to kill will read.

I see posts on here regularly from people who don’t understand how this stuff works, don’t understand that they (and others) can not legally make a financial profit from fan fiction. And there are tons of people who will not take the time to dig into the details.

Don’t deal with these bastards. Fuck Webnovel.

Literally Japanese Visual Kei is built upon this in May differing styles of fashion, feminine and masculine energy.

I was hugely into all this back in 2008 and met a lot of Visual Kei Stars when I was last in Japan. Some are male strictly, some are gender fluid and trans.

It’s a strange fandom to be sure, mostly because it is so volatile I’ve made the very best friends there and have also encountered the meanest and nastiest people that really did hurt me.

Especially since all of them had the balls to not use anon. It is not a fandom I would point to the light hearted at all. And I’m not sure if it has changed because I left it in about 2016 due to the fandom being so toxic.

But there’s a lot of beautiful styles that are all over the gender spectrum. I’d look for some bands like Phantasmagoria, Versailles, An Cafe, The Gazette, and Alice Nine to see some of the highlights of Vkei (in my opinion) both in music and looks.
