“don’t be silly” no i think i will be, thanks
these are getting weird
As a fic writer with anxiety here is my PSA for any fic readers that also have anxiety about kudos and comments:
No we don't think it's weird if you kudos or comment an older fic. Quite the opposite. We love it! I often end up rereading my old fics and remembering who and were I was when I wrote them and the memories I have attached to them.
A string of emojis is better than no comment. I don't need eloquent paragraphs.
Similarly keyboard smashes are also fun! They almost always make me laugh.
Leaving cute things in the tags of reblogs is not cringe. I love them. I love seeing them. Also you wanted to share my writing?? I immediately love you.
Likes and kudos are great if that's what you have spoons for, but if you can leave even just a heart or a reblog with no tags then it will always mean the world to me.
Sending me asks about my fics will probably make my day!
NEVER KILL YOURSELF CAUSE UR FAVE AUTHOR MIGHT FINALLY FINISH THEIR FIC FROM SEVEN FUCKING YEARS AGO!!!
this and other such reactions, lmao <3
really strange how you can be almost at peace with something that happened to you but it will continue to be a defining moment of your life for the rest of your life. you wont think about it much anymore but in a conversation about a film someone will mention the year it was released and you’ll think to yourself, “that was before it happened” and you’ll see an old photo and think how strange it is to have existed before it happened and somehow it’s like living a life in two acts
having a job is very weird bcos by and large your coworkers will be a variety of ages and you will not all be at the same stage of life. your coworker will be like, well I’m off home to spend time with my husband & child, what are you going to do with your evening? and you’re like, well, I plan on playing Rollercoaster Tycoon for as much as it as possible
And you are older than them
never give up on yourself, cause guess who updated a fanfic from seven years ago, lmao
the fanfic in question, btw
never give up on yourself, cause guess who updated a fanfic from seven years ago, lmao
sorry if this is invasive but i noticed a edited note on ur reed900 fics, does this mean in the year our lord 2026, ur finally updating ur reed900 serie?!?!?!?!
Would you believe me if I said yes?
oh my god. most of life really is about the little things. a good haircut, a nice playlist, trying a new recipe that turns out well, a poem that hits home, a comfortable spot in the sun, spontaneous messages, a pen you enjoy writing with, tea with the right temperature to drink, buying that thing you’ve been eyeing for a while, a warm bed. yeah im so grateful for the small joys
Wait, so you’re not supposed to leave tampons in too long because the tampons have toxins in them that it takes time to absorb, or because the blood it soaks up was supposed to be carrying toxins out of the body?
hi anon,
those are both incorrect understandings of toxic shock syndrome. toxic shock syndrome is caused by overgrowth of specific types of bacteria commonly found in and on the body, which will in turn release toxins. the version affiliated with tampons, which is probably what toxic shock syndrome is most well-known for, happens because tampons provide a great place for that bacteria to grow.
leaving tampons in longer increases the risk of bacteria growing and releasing toxins, which is why it's recommended to change them frequently. the same is true of anything placed in the vagina for extended periods (no pun intended) of time, including other menstrual collection items such a menstrual cups or disks or forms of birth control such as the sponge or diaphragm, both of which have become less popular with the availability of hormonal birth control.
it's important to stress that toxic shock syndrome stemming from tampons and other devices have decreased sharply in the last few decades, ever since the health risks became widely known in the 1980s, and the majority of toxic shock syndrome reported today is not affiliated with any menstrual complications.
okay this is going to sound nitpicky, but menstrual cups do not cause toxic shock syndrome. toxins released by excessive growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes cause toxic shock syndrome. that can happen whether you use a menstrual cup or not, whether you menstruate or not, in a vagina or not. you are in fact more likely to develop toxic shock syndrome in an infected wound than from a menstrual device.
again, I know this sounds like quibbling, but saying that a menstrual cup or tampon "causes" toxic shock syndrome makes it sound like they're not perfectly safe menstrual collection tools, which they both are. they can very slightly increase the risk of toxic shock syndrome but they aren't the cause, in the same way that... I don't know, people going jogging outdoors isn't the cause of people being hit by cars. there's a difference! important difference!
also, just noting from personal experience, I have been wearing a cup since my teens and deal with what is most likely executive disfunction. That is to say the cup gets forgotten a lot same way my pads did before it. Sometimes during light flow it can stay on for 4 days without removing, however I have never dealt with infections or tss with the cup, while I did experience it with other products. That isn't to say what I'm doing is safe or pads and tampons are the devil, but I do (from personal experience) believe cups are a lot safer and that though other products are sometimes necessary or preferable for many many reasons (and I don't wanna shame anyone for using them), I wouldn't put them in the same level of contribution to the risk and maybe if you are prone to tss trying a cup might be helpful (or it might not, Im not a doctor, but doctors don't seem to know a lot about menstrual health either so Im doing it the old fashioned way trial error and sharing experiences).
I agree that people should try different options to decide what works best for them! but I would also gently advise against the assumption that because something happens to work best for you it must be the safest choice for everyone, unless you can back it up with hard data that menstrual cups are affiliated with even fewer cases of toxic shock syndrome than tampons, which are already present in very few cases.
you can post on tumblr even when you're trying to take a break from social media it literally doesn't count. it's like pepsi max, or pescatarianism
