@discombobi
It's my 16 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
Aww, my blogs old enough to drive
"Andras, grand marquis of Hell. He is seen with the body of an angel (and) the head of an owl." The owl head symbolizes nocturnal malevolence and secret knowledge; the wolf, ferocity; the angel's body, his fallen character.
Dictionnaire infernal. 1863.
Internet Archive
Andras, grand marquis of hell, is beach-body ready and doesn't care who knows it. The wolf, on the other hand, is side-eyeing the camera and wishing Andras would buy a saddle, or at least throw a towel down.
Definitely recommend a scroll through the archive link - the sass is being served hot off the grill in these art pieces.
traditional chinese firework huohu火壶 by 江寻千
This is beautiful. Is this the same lady that learned the iron fireworks technique too?
I'm posting this here because yes it's visually beautiful, but more importantly it shows the process of learning. It's not easy. It's scary. There's not a lot of people doing it.
It's beautiful because of the effort, not in spite of it. I feel like we don't value the effort of learning in social media posts, and this was incredibly done.
@ralfmaximus Showers that will kill you
Holy shit I thought this was a Sims bit or someone playing with CAD software, but the last few seconds knocked me out
@thebibliosphere I'm pretty sure you are the appropriate recipient for other people's terrifying home renovation choices
the fact that we only have “herculean task” and “sisyphean task” feels so limiting. so here’s a few more tasks for your repertoire
icarian task: when you have a task you know you’re going to fail at anyways, so why not have some fun with it before it all comes crashing down
cassandrean task: when you have to deal with people you KNOW won’t listen to you, despite having accurate information, and having to watch them fumble about when you told them the solution from the start (most often witnessed in customer service)
feel free to chime in i ran out of ideas much faster than i anticipated
Promethean task: opposite of a Cassandraean task. You have the right information, and SOMEONE has to share it. But it's all in the delivery and if you're the person to identify the problem you WILL be hated forever.
Oedipal Task: (1) Attempting to avoid an unspeakably awful outcome and in doing so creating the circumstances that will bring it about. (2) Trying to solve an problem and discovering that you are in fact the problem you are trying to solve.
Odyssean task: you’ll complete it but it’ll take 20 times longer than it should and involve multiple side quests and mini-adventures
Pandorean task: some people fucked around and now it's your job to make sure they find out
Orphesian Task: a task that seems simple but is designed to be impossible for the one tasked with it
Dionysian Task: the plot of any stoner movie about trying to piece together what happened last night
"Odyessian Task" accurately describes a life with ADHD.
Too accurately perhaps
Penelopian task: So long as you look busy, you're good. Work slowly, and even undo some of the work if your have to, just don't let them catch on.
Based on a true story

My sister just told me about a site called freesewing, where you can adjust patterns from your exact measurements and it will "generate" them — but not generate as in what ShitGPT does, just mathematical tweaking of existing patterns, the way professionals would do it if you were going to a tailor. Many patterns also have photos of people posting what they've made, and it seems like it works really well most of the time. I just thought it seemed like a neat site, especially since i saw a lot of example photos with my build that had gotten some pretty good results. That they also don't sell your data is a neat bonus
FreeSewing is open source software to generate bespoke sewing patterns, loved by home sewers and fashion entrepreneurs alike.
howw do you draw chest hair...
I ended up doing a general 'body hair' tutorial because it seemed like the smart thing to do. There's a whole tutorial posted on my site here, but the general important points are:
Draw hairs with more curved/curled shapes, and try to avoid too straight lines
Take into account the direction of hair growth and hair density
Remember to follow the forms and shapes of the body
if you don't do anything else today,
Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.
have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.
and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.
black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.
if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
This is Juneteenth.
white people CAN interact with this post. share it, spread it.
as a regular donor to Gaza Soup Kitchen I get their email updates, and they said today that while they've continued to be able to expand, donations are slowing down as Gaza gets less coverage. If you have a few dollars to spare, I encourage you to send them here to continue the amazing work that Hani and his team are doing.

Characters Art for This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me
art by Helena Elias and Luisa Preissler
This book is so much fun and I need everybody to read so we can talk about our headcannons. Maybe with some snacks and tasty drinks. Basically a book club but we just live in this book for like 5 months
A daily game that challenges our understanding of human cultures. Ten objects. 5,000 years of human history. Guess where and when each artif
An interesting game where you are presented with 10 artifacts from the MET. You have to place where the artifact is from and what time period it is from. Each artifact scores up to 10,000 points, and you lose points the further away your guess is and how far off in time you are. You can only play once a day. Thanks to @baebeylik for showing this to me.
Today I scored really well. Yesterday ... not so much.
