Aesthetically, my handbound copy of Persuasion is a mess (glue gets everywhere and navy blue shows every speck of dust), but functionally, it's by far the best bind I've ever done.

The sewn-board binding allows the spine to break away, so the book can lay flat.

The text (set by @canon-in-too-deep) is wonderfully readable. The pages are bound with a French-link stitch in navy blue. So far, it's sturdy and aesthetically pleasing.

The front endpapers got warped (I glued in the wrong-sized cover board, and was so ticked off that I just slapped together some sloppy adjustments rather than measuring anything) but the back cover worked out nicely.

So, now it's time for me to properly dive in to my Persuasion reread!

Apparently some people still need to hear this so: using an 'ai checker' is still using ai. If you are feeding someone's fic to one of these checkers, you will still not be sure their fic is ai because they are not 100% accurate, but you can be 100% sure that you are using ai. For fic. Furthermore you are doing the work of an ai scraper for them. You are, personally, feeding the machine. There is no actual excuse for using an ai checker on fanfic as a hobby. YOU are the problem.

If you think a fic is ai, mute it and move on. That's it. That's all you do.

I have 100,000 followers on here (i know; tumblr power user jmg) and i think it gives me, like, zero social capital? Which I think might be why it's still good.

Like, when my agents are pitching me for something, they'll be like, "Look at his facebook! Look at his tiktok!" They're never gonna say, "100,000 people follow him on tumblr. Remember tumblr?"

But the thing is, I don't actually use facebook or tiktok (except for promo). This is the only place I use, the only place where I'm interested in the community and shared creation and all that shit.

So long live tumblr. Nobody who's gonna hire me to do anything has ever heard of it. It makes for a terrible space to promote your forthcoming book tour. And that's literally why it doesn't suck.

While the Butler is a super fun and spooky visualization for the urges your Dark Urge faces, I always loved the idea of them manifesting as the past version of you.

Imagine the potential of the same-self trial in Shar’s Guantlet. Or even if after certain events in the Temple of Bhaal, having to face and destroy that part of you once’s it’s been torn out of your blood.
