So I was playing BOTW today and was trying to get the perfect shot but this happened...
Please donât fucking log off tumblr on the 17th as a protest. All thatâs going to do is give tumblr more reason to shut this place down because of revenue loss.
Please donât fucking log off tumblr on the 17th as a protest. All thatâs going to do is give tumblr more reason to shut this place down because of revenue loss.
This is blatantly untrue
Companies do not experience one day of revenue loss and pull the plug, destroying years of work and firing dozens if not hundreds of employees.
Companies which experience loss in revenue and consumer interest make investments and changes in order to regain their users/customers. Thatâs why organized protests and boycotts WORK. Tumblr will NOT go down after one bad day or week, but they might be willing to listen to its userbase if we put up an organized protest. (If you donât believe me, think about how long sites like MySpace and Google+ hang around with fractions of their previous user base, often for years.)
Yahoo paid over one billion dollars for Tumblr, and the website will not go offline because of a one-day event, so in conclusion,
DO log off on December 17th to show Tumblr that you disapprove of its recent content ban and clumsy execution of censorship.
Please reblog this version of the post to stop the spread of misinformation.
on the 17th, log off of tumblr. ill be offline too. just for a week, stay offline. we need to prove a point to staff. please reblog this.
I felt now was a good time for the memes-of-the-year recap:
ARE YOUR POSTS NOT SHOWING UP? THIS SHOULD FIX IT:
so as this post says, if you'r finding your blog is all jumbled, old posts popping up to the front, new posts not showing up at all, etc it is because of those posts being flagged and then unflagged. all you have to do is open them to edit and save them again and theyâll go back.Â
i just wanted to make this separate post to add that once you do that all your new posts will go back to being visible at the top of your blog as they should be i just did it and now everythingâs fine on my blog.Â

Hello Everyone! Iâve opened an account on Twitter just in case because of the Tumblr purge (even tho Iâve just posted sfw stuff here). I wonât delete my Tumblr even if Tumblr is being all shitty tho. Go follow me on Twitter!
Updates to Tumblrâs Community Guidelines
Today we announced some big updates to our Community Guidelines and what kind of content is permitted on Tumblr. Adult content will no longer be allowed here. While we do not judge anyone for their desire to post, engage with, or view this stuff, it is time for us to change our relationship with it.
We expect you may have some questions on how this will affect you, and weâre here to make sure those questions get answered.
When does the new policy take effect?
Our new Community Guidelines will go into effect on December 17, 2018.
Newly uploaded content flagged as adult will no longer be allowed on Tumblr. Weâll also begin flagging and removing existing adult content with the ultimate goal of removing as much of it as we can.
What is considered adult content?
Adult content primarily includes photos, videos, or GIFs that show real-life human genitals or female-presenting nipples, and any contentâincluding photos, videos, GIFs and illustrationsâthat depicts sex acts.
What is still permitted?
Examples of exceptions that are still permitted are exposed female-presenting nipples in connection with breastfeeding, birth or after-birth moments, and health-related situations, such as post-mastectomy or gender confirmation surgery. Written content such as erotica, nudity related to political or newsworthy speech, and nudity found in art, such as sculptures and illustrations, are also stuff that can be freely posted on Tumblr.

PSA: the tumblr adult content purge probably affects your posts even if youâve never posted anything remotely nsfw. Check your posts because lots of safe content has been flagged and they donât notify you about it.
The tumblr support page linked in todayâs announcement says that they always notify you if your content has been flagged, which Iâll call âmisleading languageâ at my most generous:
As far as I see, that ânotificationâ consists of you manually scrolling through your own post history and noticing the red stripe theyâve put on the individual posts which their algorithms deemed problematic. I received zero emails, chats, real time notifications, carrier pigeons, or anything in regards to the dozens of posts I just found erroneously flagged on my blog.
It also implies thereâs some way to review all of your flagged posts at once, but I see no such option on my blog:
(âDismissâ is not one of the options Iâm given and clicking âokayâ doesnât result in a list of flagged content)
Final note, I notice that photosets and especially gifsets seem particularly prone to getting flagged, so if youâve posted a lot of tv/movie gifsets and stuff like that, take a look.Â
So anyway, everybody should check their wholesome, wholesome post history to catch tumblrâs mistakes. And if anybody sees some option I missed about a list of flagged content please share!
This reblog is post #26,910 on my blog, which Iâve had for five years. Itâs not practical for me to scroll through the entire freaking thing to see what Tumblrâs AI thinks is inappropriate. /cry
I donât even get a request review option??? What the fuck?
i cover my nipples, not because of some stupid law, but for the same reason kakashi covers his sharingan
The only post that will remain unbanned after the mass purge of Tumblr.
In case youâre not aware, Tumblr has recently announced that on the seventeenth of December theyâll start purging all porn and porn-adjacent content on Tumblr. Â Why does that matter to LWU, you ask? Â Well, theyâre using their bots to identify it, and weâve all seen how well THAT works. Â One of my Wander posts even got flagged as sensitive for no apparent reason. Â What I want to do is reassure you all that Iâve taken steps to back up all of the content on LWU to my hard drive using a tool I was recommended a couple weeks ago. Â Iâm going to continue to do so on a regular basis just in case, so thereâs very little chance that my stuff will be lost.
Iâm using this one! It condensed my entire blog as of November 20th into one 4.36 gigabyte folder.
Any notes on how to use it? I canât figure it out.
Okay, so hereâs how to do this.
First off, go here and make sure you have Python installed. For Windows it should be the very bottom link, the x86 MSI Installer. You donât have to do anything but install it.
Second, go here, and click âClone or Downloadâ (the green button on the right). Select âDownload ZIPâ.
Make sure you have WinRAR or 7zip or something installed that lets you extract zip files.
Next, make a folder on your desktop. I named mine âTumblr Backupâ, and in the following instructions Iâm going to assume thatâs what youâve named yours as well; replace âTumblr Backupâ with whatever you name yours if it isnât.
Drop the zip file you downloaded into Tumblr Backup. Go in and extract it; this should create a folder called âtumblr-utils-masterâ.
Open your Command Prompt. If you donât know how to find that, click your start menu button and type âCMDâ, which should give you this:
That should open this:
That frog over there is blotting out my profile name on my computer. Whatever your profile name is when you sign in (e.g. âMaxâ or âSnugglebunsâ or âfroglord69â) is going to be in that spot on the address path. If it instead says something about Windows and System 32, thatâs okay, what Iâm gonna tell you to do will go to the right place either way.
Next, input this commandâkeeping in mind that the parts in bold should be changed based on your profile name and what you named the folder on your desktop:
CD C:\Users\froglord69\Desktop\Tumblr Backup\tumblr-utils-master
There! Now youâre in the right folder! Next, enter this command, replacing the bolded bit with your own blog name:
tumblr_backup.py yourblogname
You should see this:
Then justâŠlet it run! It took less than five minutes for my computer, though it will vary by processor and connection. Once itâs done, youâll have something like this:
That âindexâ opens in an internet browser. Itâs basically a webpage stored directly on your computer. Some pics of mine:
SoâŠnot pretty, but itâll save the content of your posts. Hope this helps!
Spread this so as many people as possible can see it
Mac users:
Create a folder somewhere convenient and name it something like âTumblr Backup.â
Download the script as described above. Save it to the folder you just created. Double click it, and it extracts in place.
open a terminal.app window. Terminal.app is located in your /Applications/Utilities folder. Usually, just typing command-space to bring up the spotlight window and then typing in âtermâ and hitting return does the trick.
If you are not accustomed to UNIX command prompts, do not be scared. You got this.
At the â$âprompt, type in âcdâ and then space, and then drag and drop the decompressed tumblr-utils-master folder onto the terminal window. The path to that window should appear. Hit return.
Boom. Youâve switched to that folder. Type âlsâ to make sure. Should look like a list of the folderâs contents.
Type â./tumblr_backup.py [yourblogname]â and hit return.
Boom. Your blog starts downloading. Go drink coffee, enjoy some porn, hang out with your dog, cat, other pet, or lover/s who may also be your pet/s, and let the script run. Depending on your connection speed and just how much of a pervert you are, this could take a while.
Mac instructions for you weirdo Mac users!

A better, more positive Tumblr
Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, weâre proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.
Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, weâve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. Weâve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, weâre taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions). Â
Letâs first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with todayâs policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. Weâve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.
So what is changing?
Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and weâve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.
Why are we doing this?
It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.
So whatâs next?
Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes wonât happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.
Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. Weâre relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but weâve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.
Most importantly, weâre going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions weâre making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.
Like you, we love Tumblr and what itâs come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We wonât always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.
