Chefs AU: the inherent eroticism of shallots by eboi (5,288 words, not rated)
Rival celebrity chefs Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov are invited to a live panel about “The Future of Healthy Home Cooking.”
The producers want lively debate, the audience wants drama, and the internet wants their feud.
Incidentally, and entirely unrelated, Shane and Ilya have spent the last decade secretly in love.
Porn Stars AU: Sexy Boy by @hoko-onchi-writes & @veradubhghoil-blog (7,058 words, rated E)
“Terrible name, by the way,” Ilya told Svetlana. “We will need to think of new one. This is not 1970’s porn. He is pretty and innocent. Sweet.”
“Oh,” Svetlana said, craning her neck to stare at Ilya’s laptop. “Oh. He is just your type.”
“I don’t have a type,” Ilya lied. If Ilya did have a type—and he did, maybe a little, because if a man didn’t have a preference, he didn’t get to have an opinion—it was this. Muscular but not in an obsessive bodybuilder sort of way, a strong brow, and an ass that Ilya could practically see jiggle when spanked.
Remote Office Romance AU: a rookie's guide to navigating unrequited office romance (allegedly) by allthelovesaved (9,068 words, rated T)
There’s a kitten on Shane's lap, a naked kitten, and it’s pushing its head into his hand as he speaks to someone probably on his other monitor. “I have a meeting in a few,” Shane is saying, still not realizing that the meeting in question is currently happening because someone joined without Shane having to physically pull him in. “But after lunch I’m all yours. We can talk about the launch then.”
“Okay,” the other voice is tinny and a little disjointed, but Sergei doesn’t think he’s ever heard it before. He’s almost certain there’s an accent, but he can’t fully tell it’s that far away. “I’ll put you in my calendar.”
“So generous,” Shane jokes, gently scratching between the kitten’s ears. “Penciling me in.” He glances down for the first time, realizes Sergei is there and jumps, dislodging the kitten. “Shit, fuck, sorry, Chexy.” He looks over at his other screen and says, “I have to go, see you in a few hours.” Shane waves his hands at the other person before they can even say anything, and turns his full attention back to Chexy. “Sorry, that was HR.”
Firefighters AU: smoke signals by @earthchoir (9,152 words, rated M)
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” Shane says when he walks into Station 24 for the first time.
“Hollander,” says none other than Ilya goddamn Rozanov, “Are you lost?”
(or: a literal heated rivalry)
Birdwatchers AU: Gavia stellata by @galehautstomb (9,820 words, rated E)
“This is just the version I use. Everyone has their preference, but I can send you the Amazon link for this book if you like,” Shane said, while Ilya flipped through the field guide. He stopped on the section on loons, where two different species were illustrated in wading water and mid-flight.
Ilya pointed at one of the illustrations. A sleek dark bird, with white and black checker-board wings and a stark red eye. “We saw this one today, yes?”
“Yep. The common loon. It’s aquatic, so you’ll always find them near water, usually a lake like we just saw. It’s the national bird of Canada, actually.”
“Common. You can find this bird all over?” Ilya asked.
“Around here, at least. It’s my favorite bird,” Shane admitted. “Pretty boring, I know.”
Shane’s shoulders were hunched up, like he was embarrassed to admit that he was the bird guy, who did in fact, like birds.
Well, that would not do. “Boring is good. I like boring,” Ilya insisted.
(Or, Ilya Rozanov, a newly arrived hockey agent in Ottawa, falls for a local birder).
MMA Fighters AU: bloodfeather by @crossnecklace (17,342 words, rated E)
Ilya Rozanov’s opponents would describe him as a brutal savage with a dirty record, known for hitting after the bell’s gone off. Spectators would describe him as a cocky spitfire with the stats to back it up, dollar bills passed around like candy whenever he was in the cage. Commentators would describe him as a barreling force of nature with a promising legacy. Weighing in at a hundred and eighty-five pounds of raw muscle, he was the son of Grigori Rozanov, notorious Russian street fighter, and he pulled no punches, so to speak.
Shane would describe Ilya Rozanov as a fucking asshole with, admittedly, a pretty clean uppercut. Hardly any of the matches he’d watched him win had lasted the full five minutes.
AU. Shane first introduces himself to Ilya Rozanov ten minutes before they’re slotted to beat the shit out of each other in front of a live audience. They go together like fire and gasoline.
Mormon Missionary AU: Heaven is a bedroom by @thomasmomwell (18,138 words, rated M)
Jaw Man flicked his middle finger up at Ilya, who didn’t seem to mind, and gestured towards Shane and Hayden with raised eyebrows. “The f*** are you even doing right now, man.”
Ilya said briefly, “Orgy.”
“Uh,” said Shane, “no, that’s not—”
Ilya grinned at him. It was a mean-edged grin but something about it seemed to suggest that he was joking with Shane, rather than about him. “Oh, he speaks.”
“We’re not here for an orgy,” Shane said to Jaw Man. “We’re missionaries with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”
Medieval AU: The Heart of a Knight by @dntat-makesthings (21,557 words, rated E)
“Please, no!” Shane cried as Ilya was dragged away from him. He fought viciously against his guards, but could only watch, helpless, as the men holding Ilya began to beat him, their blows falling without pause. “Ilya!” Shane screamed again, struggling uselessly against the unyielding hands that held him. “Please leave him! It was me! He did nothing! It was me! Take me instead–”
Or: Shane and Ilya are knights, sworn to serve their lords and their kingdom. They are also lovers, who have kept their relationship secret for over a decade.
Their duties only allow them a few stolen visits each year, until one day, everything changes. Will they be torn apart forever? Or will they finally be able to live the life they always dreamed for themselves, together and free?
Astronauts AU: solnyshko by @angel-deux-writes (54,881 words, rated M)
Ilya Rozanov wakes up from a medically induced coma, sixteen months into a mission to save the dying sun, and he can't remember a single one of his crewmates.
He's immediately drawn to one of them, though. Too bad Hollander won't give him the time of day.
Paralympics Sled Hockey AU: Para as in Parallel by devfiction (133,004 words, rated M)
Shane Hollander was a generational hockey talent. That's over. Now he is going through the motions as a rookie player on Canada's Sled Hockey Paralympic Team.
Ilya Rozanov is the Captain of the Russian team and the best sled hockey player in the world. The whole world. He'd be the first to tell you.
