Manga spoilers for Tamon's B-Side ⬇️
Collins is gone.
Namaygoosisagagun First Nation/Collins has burned to the ground. The entire community is nothing but ashes after being quickly consumed by wildfires. They did not have any support from emergency services, and no one offered aid. The community saved themselves by escaping into boats because no one came.
Mishkeegogamang and Cat Lake have lost power. Families are ending up in shelters with nothing. Armstrong, Lac La Croix, Whitesand, Gull Bay, Lac des Mille Lacs are currently in the fires path and all members are being evacuated.
All this loss, all this devastation, and it was entirely preventable.
After steadily underfunding wildland firefighting and purposefully excluding Indigenous wildland firefighters and Indigenous wildfire organizations from wildfire operations, firefighter training, decisionmaking, and resource exchanges, in 2025, Doug Ford slashed the forest firefighting budget.
It's hard to ignore his decision to cut funding and leave us out of adequate fire training (even though we've lived with forest fires for thousands of years—far longer than settlers have been in Canada—and made sure fires like the ones we're all seeing today were prevented through kinisitotēn) when, despite making up less than 5% of the population, we account for 42% percent of all wildfire evacuations in Canada.
And when we are successfully evacuated, we face discrimination and racism—like Kashechewan—because it's always been easier to blame us than it is to blame the true culprit: denialism, corportate greed, and colonization.
The people of Collins and every other impacted community deserve better.
Right now, the AFN is currently accepting donations to help Collins First Nation. If you're able to, please consider donating.
ONWA (Ontario Native Women's Association) is another great place to donate to. They have outreach vans going to motels and inns and offering food, water, resources, and cultural support to those impacted by the wildfires.
Other places to consider donating to are Mikinakoos Emergency Fund, Red Cross, True North Aid, Indigenous Climate Action. You can also send donations directly to Whitesand First Nation via e-transfer ([email protected]) and they request that you add your full name in the e-transfer comment section to receive a tax receipt.
*Before sending money, verify that the appeal appears on an official First Nation, Tribal Council or registered charity channel.
If you can't offer financial support, please consider donating items of need. Moontime Connections is currently accepting drop-off donations. If you live in the Thunder Bay area, Namaygoosisagagun Health Office is also taking in donations! They can also bemailed to Superior Inn Hotel & Conference Centre at 555 West Arthur Street, Thunder Bay, ON, P7E 5P8.
items needed are: food, diapers, medical masks, men’s and women’s joggers (all sizes), children’s clothing (newborn to size 14), children’s shoes, summer clothing, men’s clothing, toiletries (lotion, Vaseline, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, etc.), strollers, adult depends-all sizes, dog & cat food

A great place to donate to First Nations groups impacted by the ongoing wildfires 👇
True North Aid provides practical humanitarian support to northern and remote Indigenous communities in Canada through community-led project
Also consider Mikinakoos' as they're extending support beyond their traditional service areas due to the scale of this emergency!

If you are currently sitting or laying down this moment ask yourself if you are resting or rotting. Change your behavior accordingly
There is no romance in decay when the decaying is easy
You are naught but pawns in my game
I hope some of y'all take this as a sign to rest intentionally too.
if you're "resting" but thinking of all the things you have to do, that's not resting, that's rotting. Even if you haven't done anything all day, give yourself some time to rest and truly relax. When you let yourself relax guilt free, you actually regain energy for your responsibilities.
this post has helped me a number of times since I first saw it. I have realized I was rotting instead of resting, and depending on the circumstance, got up to do something, or settled more comfortably to actually rest.
Thank you.
"rot or rest" sounds like the world's worst game show
genuine writers getting wrongly accused of using ai because of witch hunt and proper grammar/structure in their works must be what being a woman in the 1600s who is wrongly accused of being a witch because she can read and is intelligent feels like
I cannot recommend bringing your heritage and culture into how you view media enough.
It is important to consider the culture of the person who created the piece, absolutely; but the different perspectives offered by the viewers is fascinating in and of itself and does not always detract from the message.
As an example, when I was younger, I watched Schindler's List. This movie is famously shot in black and white except for one section, concerning a little girl in a red coat. The camera follows her until her eventual death.
I am Turtle Island Indigenous and I was always taught that the only color spirits could see was red, because it is the color of life and blood.
So the second the girl in the red jacket came on screen, something inside me chilled with fear.
The only color in the movie was that red. At some point, I, the viewer, had died.
I remember sobbing at the sight of the burning human piles that were shown, convinced I was buried in there somewhere. The reason I had only seen red on the girl was that my death was recent. I was the ash in the air mistaken for snow. I had died before her and had followed her, helplessly, until she followed me.
The message I got for that was maybe not what the creator had intended: that there was no "being clever enough" or "good enough" or "kind enough" that would shield or protect you from such a massive tidal wave of evil.
You are not exempt from tragedy, that red jacket whispered. You are not special.
When I told some of my white friends about my experience with viewing Schindler's List, some were shocked and the rest just out-and-out mocked me for my "media illiteracy".
"it was just a filming trick to make you feel something," I remember one saying, which terrified me. How had he not felt anything even before she showed up?
However, when I repeated my viewing to a college class, they were fascinated. The implications of what I had seen and felt made the film all the more terrifying and solemn. It encouraged a lot of people to try to ask themselves what media meant from a cultural perspective, where they hadn't done that before.

It bothers me so much that the healthcare system relies so much on the patient's ability to advocate for themselves, organize their history, and be so persistent against every medical “professional” who says there’s nothing wrong/they can do. But so many struggle with fatigue, brain fog, and face such ingrained systemic barriers, that the people who need and deserve help and support can’t access it.
I saw something recently that resonated with me: “Access shouldn't depend on who has the energy to fight for it.” And I’ve never agreed with anything more.
idk man not to sound like a cartoon hippie but if your entirrrrre blog and dash is about how the world sucks and everyones bigoted i think you are going to give yorself brain worms

i do not think you are doing activism chief i think what you are doing is sitting in your room flagellating yourself expecting something to happen
the year is 2035. the new beauty standard is for women to cut their ears off, as ears are a masculine trait which make the face look too big and hearing isnt necessary as it doesnt align with being demure. evil feminists say perhaps this is unnecessary and ears are natural. women are agressively proclaiming they are cutting their ears off due to sensory issues
the three most common "help, I'm trying to do/just did my injection and [nothing]" messages I get are, in order
a little leaked out
there's a bubble
blood!!! there's not normally blood! why blood!
leaky girl
first off relax, it's not a huge deal, it looks like more liquid than it is. next time you do your injection, let a single drop fall from the needle onto your skin and compare it to the amount of liquid that leaked out. it'll barely move the plunger, looks like basically the same dose. I've only ever had one girl go "no it was way more" and she's weird for other reasons.
typically this is caused by moving too fast. after you finish pushing the dose, let the needle rest in place for a few seconds. when you pull it out, put your fingertip on the injection site to hold your skin in place.
when you pull the needle out, friction pulls the surrounding tissue along the path of travel and you end up with a lil path to the outside like >>>>>----. if you hold it in place, things bunch up a lil and helps seal the path like xxxxx----
the TV lied bubbles are safe
if you are in a hospital and having air injected to your veins, do not worry. you are not being murdered, they are doing a bubble study. the tiny bubble left in your syringe will at most cause discomfort. it's entirely unnecessary for our medication (unless you are a very leaky girl!), but when done intentionally this is called the "airlock" technique
when you draw up your dose, pull in a little bit of air and (while holding it with capped needle pointed up) flick the syringe until you have one big bubble at the top to push out. when you inevitably end up with a small one stuck to the side, flick it to unstick it so you can float it to the top. the only reason I do this every time is because I think it's fun.
well yeah blood happens
since subq needles are so small (mine are 29 gauge and .5"/13mm long) it's really hard to hurt yourself too badly. outside of some basic sanity checks like making sure you're injecting into the right place and that you have enough subcutaneous tissue there to comfortably accommodate the medication, there's nothing to really worry about. you nicked a blood vessel.
were your hands shaking at the time? the tip of the needle is a cutting edge on the sides as well as the point, lateral motion with a blade that's inside of tissue tends to cause bleeding. even if it's real small.
one girl told me that blood literally squirted out of the injection site, that one I don't blame her for worrying about. we never figured out why, nothing bad ever happened and it never happened again.
bonus: why the fuck did that one hurt so bad???
this one isn't nearly as common, but I've gotten it a lot. I have never once been able to come up with a good explanation, that seems to just happen.
this is all in the context of subcutaneous injections because, barring specific complications, that's the best ROA. if you do IM just because that's what your doctor told you, please reconsider
I'm talking to girls here because girls talk to me, but I don't think any of this would be different for those of you with a blue-flavored gender accident.
i was on the way to the movies & i saw an old guy with a piece of wood over his shoulders. it was huge -- a pole several feet long with a kind of wide fan at the end of it. and i said "what the hell is that?" and he looked at me and had this kind of ear to ear grin, and he said "what do you mean 'what the hell is that'?" and he sat back on his heels, still with that big smile like the sun spilling from the underside of a cloud and waited for me to answer and i said "i mean i don't know why you're walking around with that thing, whatever it is." and he laughed and put down his pole and kinda clapped me on the shoulder. "can i get you a drink?" he said. and i said "no, the show's in ten minutes," and he said "oh? what are you seeing?" and i said "christopher nolan's odyssey, i'm pretty excited," and he sighed and picked up his oar and kept walking.
I don’t get the joke :( someone help me
in some versions of the Odysseus legend, Odysseus leaves Ithaca and is supposed to wander the world carrying a ship's oar until he finds a place where no one knows what it is. here, he encounters someone who doesn't recognize it, but since the narrator is going to see a movie version of the Odyssey, that anonymity can't last & he has to keep wandering.
youd think youd run out of things to say about a tv show
