while i don't believe in an afterlife or souls and do accept that a corpse is an empty space where something once was, i also think that if we give a body which cannot advocate for itself that meaning and personhood, then we cannot simply disregard it as it suits the living to do so without any consideration for the consequences of that, especially when we will all one day be in the same position regardless of our consent in the matter. unlike abortion, where you're advocating for a hypothetical person that doesn't exist yet, a corpse is what remains of someone who did and had a material impact on the world. the dead aren't due any more dignity or respect than the living, but they also aren't due any less for the same reasons, and how much someone values the lives of others among them inevitably reflects how they treat their dead.

perhaps it'd clarify my position to say that, yes, a corpse is an object and an empty space which cannot feel or react, but a body is how we connect and interact with each other and the world, and a corpse is also, unavoidably, a body, however vacant, and you cannot treat a body as you would an object if you want to claim to uphold human rights, because that's a dangerous road with a steep drop

Answer: very easily. You can simply copy the X chromosome so that the resulting embryo has two copies of the X chromosome. Just delete the Y chromosome and voila, automatic female (providing there aren't any mutations on the resulting X copy).

I failed to mention the word „unaltered“ in my original post which would contradict messing with chromosomes. First I kicked myself for it then I rechecked Tech‘s words and was glad I forgot it because he doesn’t say „unaltered“, he says „She has pure first generation DNA.“ and „Omega is a pure genetic replication.“

So since he put it this way copying the X and omitting the Y wouldn’t contradict him, the genes would still be a „pure“ replication.

He also says:

„Since he disappeared at the start of the war, that makes Omega the sole living source of Fett‘s raw genetic material.“

In the end that’s what made her so special. One could argue that the Y chromosome is a goner but it’s really small and I don’t think something relevant for the cloning program would be found there. One could probably just replace it with any other healthy Y chromosome with minimum consequences. But that’s me using half-knowledge about the genetic information at the Y-chromosome, so don’t take my word for it 😅

Technically, you don't even need to get rid of the Y chromosome. All human foetuses develop as females up to a certain point in time. There is a so-called SRY region on the Y chromosome that activates at this crucial point in time and switches the development to male. In case it fails to turn on in time, the XY baby develops as an intersex or even a phenotypic female with minimal deviations.

So, Omega can easily be an XY individual with a female phenotype. Moreover, outgrowing Hunter (much to the delight of their other siblings, no doubt) can be interpreted as her Y kicking in later in the development; still, not enough to revert her biological sex.

As for the blonde hair, it's even simpler than this. Hair colour is determined by several genes, some of which are recessive—meaning, normally, they would be dominated by dark hair genes. Also, the interaction of genes may make them more or less active; many blond kids, for example, tend to develop darker hair colour later in life. Jango must have had some of those recessive genes; clones display a variety of hair colours up to Rex’s famous blond buzz. And Omega happened to be on the blonde side, too.

(Not sure about Crosshair, if he is platinum blonde or gone grey. In TCW he looks more like salt'n pepper grey to me).

From someone who had almost jet black hair then developed silver grey hair growing in at about high school age: You can definitely lose melanin in your hair at any age. Any nationality, from the lightest to the darkest skinned person can have that happen. Sometimes even health issues, surgery, or bodily injury can cause your hair to discolor or fall out!

your writing does not have to be outstanding or exceptional. seriously, I read books all the time with just average writing, maybe some of the minor characters are one dimensional and cliched, maybe the dialogue is a little cheesy, maybe the plot is a little shaky, but the characters and their dire situation have hooked me. your story doesn’t have to be 5 stars to be worth writing and sharing and it will find the people who will love it.

I think the thing is that writing fiction isn't one skill, it's like twelve plus skills in a trenchcoat. Characterisation, prose, plot development, pacing, dialogue, general premise, world building, knowing where to start, the list goes on. And that's not even getting into stuff like SPAG, editing your own work, research, catching plot holes, and other more nuts and bolts stuff.

Being just okay at all of those is still very fucking impressive! And a writer being really good at one of them has carried me through a lot of books where other parts were significantly weaker.
