Re: the last post, the article mentions that some places use clams to test the toxicity of the water. It’s like that in Warsaw- we get our water from the river, and the main water pump has 8 clams that have triggers attached to their shells. If the water gets too toxic, they close, and the triggers shut off the city water supply automatically.  

The clams are just better at measuring the water quality than any man-made sensors.

Coming back to this fic because writing fluff set in an alternate universe is how I cope with being in this universe.

What a heartbreaking loss on Thursday, they played SO WELL but the record doesn't reflect that. Ugggggh. Those missed calls were brutal. Games shouldn't end like this but they do, as Al Michaels said, it's so frustrating.

Anyway, shorter but more frequent updates to come! Gotta get through the 2021 season so I can finally write the AU scene where Ja'Marr wears Joe's jersey when they go to New Orleans!

Not annoying at all and I’m quite happy that someone is thinking of that fic. I’m planning to pick it back up now that the season has started and I’m kind of sort of maybe settled into my new job. :)

Ever since Joe was little, he has known that he will be an athlete. How could he not, with a family like his? 

Ever since he started playing football, Ja'Marr has felt like he was holding his breath for the big moment that will define his life - a game-winning touchdown, a Natty trophy, an NFL jersey as he stands on the podium on draft night. 

Ja'Marr decides on LSU after tuning out all the noise, getting a good night's sleep, and listening to his heart.

It starts, like most things in Ja'Marr's life, because of Joe. 

Joe feels like he's burning up. 

Joe. 

Pop.  

In hindsight, Geralt should have taken the truck instead of Roach to bring Ciri to her kindergarten orientation. 

"Jaskier..." Geralt reaches for him, cupping his cheek with a calloused palm. 

Geralt shifts in the chair. 

So right away, I noticed the mirroring opening lines between #1 and #2 and between #6 and #7 - which makes sense as those are companion fics.

#1-7 are all Joe/Ja'Marr fics because once I get into a fandom, I really get into it. No, like, seriously. There are 30 fics tagged with Joe/Ja'Marr and I've written 7 of them!

#8-10 are Geralt/Jaskier and I find that I tend to write in Geralt's POV more. It's also been a while since my last Witcher fic, which was completed in 2020. Still undecided about the new season and the new Geralt...

One thing I've noticed is that I tend to write in the POV of the character who needs the emotional development to make the character I'm fond of happy.

For example, I am very fond of Jaskier and Geralt needs to realize Jaskier is an incredible person who either deserves better than what Geralt has given him or deserves all the loving care Geralt can give. Or both!

Another example is Tony Stark, who I also adore and wrote mostly in his POV when I was active in the MCU fandom. I wrote in his POV because Tony needs to work on himself to realize he deserves better than what the MCU has given him. Writing in his POV lets me track his emotional development and his joy when he experiences what friendship and teamwork should be.

If he wasn’t, Bret would be celebrating. This brain drain they’re fretting about is entirely of their own bigoted doing. If they’d thought about retaining great contributors to society instead of culture wars, there’d be no issue.

click on policy questions & abuse reports which takes you to this page:

if you scroll down, youll be able to report the fic right there but you can also check for yourself that its against ToS

all you need to do is explain that theyre deliberately mistagging things which is just not a thing on ao3 because its an archive.

by posting your fic there, ao3, has the right to manually recategorise tags. its in the ToS:

you cant deliberately mistag stuff on ao3; it is an archive. you cant tag for reach, and this is likely gonna get pat tag wranglers because they deal mostly with form not content of tags and if theyre tagging for reach, its gonna be the more popular tags.

so report the fuck out of them for it. most likely, their fic will just have tags adjusted and their account will be fine.

and if they keep doing it and get suspended for it, its their own damn fault.

also thats not even getting into the fact that mistagging fics is kinda antithetical to their goal of reaching more people because youre not reaching the people who want to read your fic?

I couldn't write All the Birds in the Sky from scratch now if I tried. But the me of 2013 couldn't have written The Prodigal Mother either.
