Once in a blue moon I'm gonna put my reels/tiktoks on here, too, because my love for the Legend of Drizzt series can't be boxed down into a single shortform-video-based-platform.
Folks love to paint Doom as phantom, but I'd much rather see him at the piano. Not that I'd deny he'd make a rather charming baritone, but let's just let him play quietly for a while.
A contemplative performance, meant for one person alone.
(And that person isn't Loki, sorry dear, you know I love you, but that's just how Doom is...)
Shit posting aside, Here's a genuine attempt at a Vhaeraun design. The notes / Inspiration I pulled from & some thoughts under the cut.
So, most of these were gathered for my benefit. If it doesn't seem very cohesive, it's probably because it's not. That in mind, here were the things wandering through my head with these designs.
= I wanted to give him multiple different versions of masks, with the first and most casual one being so dark that it blends into his skin, sort of like it's functionally apart of his skin. The goal was subtly, given that he's a god of stealth and there's a lot of focus on how much he's constantly being cloaked in shadows and what have you. How much of what's going on up there with his normal mask is a mask, is shadows, and is skin kinda melds together.
Secondarily, however, I wanted to play into the fact he seems kinda. Y'know. So he has some "louder" masks that float off of his skin. I imagine these are for less casual moments.
= His general shape language reminded me a little of punk fashions (This, on top of his general personality and vibes being what they are), so I leaned into that direction while looking at the shape that I wanted to take his silhouette. Given that this is go one of the design, I think there's a few things I could push if I keep drawing him in the future. I want to find a way to make the dagger holster look like the obnoxious belts you see in that fashion, and maybe play into the shoulders being bigger.
Likewise, in my head the base of the jacket is sort of like a shadow, fluctuating in length and transparency.
= Colorwise, I wanted the main scheme to be as dark as it is so that it could contrast well with any color that his hair/eyes turn to. But admittedly, given that I was more focused on the shape over the uhh colors I don't know how well this is going to look in practice. Fuck it we ball
