tbh nothing frustrates me more then when people brush off classics like pride and prejudice or jane eyre because they don’t fit into today’s modern standards of feminism and social justice etc.

remember that these novels were published in the 19th century. and that some of the things that were written in these books may seem trivial to us today but would have absolutely fucking shook readers in the victorian era

like,,,,,elizabeth rejecting mr collins because she doesn’t love him even though it would have been considered her duty in her family to marry him? or jane eyre not agreeing to marry mr rochester unless it was on her own terms? hell even anne brontë wrote a lesser known novel about a wife leaving her abusive husband with her five year old son to live a better life?? do y’all realize how unheard of that would be in the 1800′s?? where women were considered more of a commodity than actual human beings??

even though they might not be up to todays standards of modern feminism and romance, they were still HUGE building blocks for equality for that time period. so if you’re a reader who says to themselves ‘I read classics with modern standards applied and I can’t get past that’ then you are most likely going to be disappointed when reading classics and not fully understand their significance to that time period

Hope you guys don't mind me, but I just wanted to commemorate 14,000 hits, and thank every person who has read my story. It's less about the numbers, or success (although those are also very nice), and more about the love I've felt through this journey. This story is extra special for me because I started it when I was still suffering with burnout and recovering from a bad job experience. I was still struggling with my recent autism diagnosis, and... Well, 2024 was a very hard year for me by itself.

Every so often I do some blatant self-promo, but it's not just that I'm seeking new eyes, more readers, than it's just me hoping to invite someone on a journey that I went through, and hope they will get on the other side of it with a smile. And while I promise you that I am very much still human and enchanted by big numbers... Having someone kudo, bookmark, and comment on a story that is very much imperfect, but that I gave my all to write... I don't have the words.

i had a dream last night that the entire world used a currency (?) called angrypennies which as the name implies are obtained by experiencing anger. the stronger and more intense your anger was, the more angrypennies you'd gain. an all-consuming rage would earn you more than a slight irritation, etc. so people were always searching for ways to fuel their anger and purposefully keeping themselves angry all the time because they wanted to earn angrypennies. unclear if angrypennies could be exchanged for goods and services, or if they were just a collectible.

anyway, as if this wasn't heavy-handed enough, at one point british comedian greg davies appeared and explained that angrypennies couldn't be worth feeling angry all the time. this was a real revelation to dream-me and i was finally able to break free of the angrypenny grind and allow myself to experience emotions other than anger.

last post died (pls dont tag this post); it's been over a week since anyone sent anything. i didnt eat again yesterday. i'm struggling to eat & pay bills in general. i'm still looking to find new work after getting laid off. i was convinced during a crisis to take a job and move into the house of a family member who i now know just wanted free labour from me and has not paid me.

she's recently eaten much of the food i bought or came with and has been emotionally abusive. she knows what chronically overstimulating an autistic person can do and still did it. this is all taking a rough toll on my body after leaving another nightmare situation, i'm overwhelmed and need resources for a safe exit. please help how you can.
