A rural First Nations community in Alaska has lost its’ only potable water source as of January in freezing weather. The laundromat was the ONE community location to get clean water. They rely on river water and donations right now.
There is an Amazon wishlist with cleaning products, formula, small electric-free washers for elderly + disabled people, washing buckets and water-carrying buckets, and hand tools to cut through the ice in the river to access water, amongst other things.
The Tuluksak Native Community is a Yup'ik Tribal Government in Tuluksak, Alaska. They have a 30%+ positive COVID rate.
Please ignore the GoFundMe link right now. There is no way to access the funding as far as I know. Message CeeJay on Twitter ahead of time or direct funds to the Amazon Wish List, which can be sorted from lowest price to highest.

the question ‘should lesbians have to date trans women’? is a question that shows the epitome of cis privilege. ppl here are acting like society is forcing cis women to date trans women and acting like society as a whole respects trans women’s gender. questions like this are intentionally meant paint cis women as some helpless victims to trans women and make it seem that trans women have some privilege over cis women. which they don’t. these questions are so transphobic because there will always be a transphobic response/debate. Like these questions are made to make it seem like trans women are out here harming cis women and forcing them into relationships, thus making it seen like they have some privilege. which they don’t….
(for context, i am a tme nonbinary lesbian)
@ the people who have already started having transmisogynistic debates in the notes:
literally NO ONE ON EARTH is saying anyone “has to” date anyone. no trans person is arguing this. however, if you are a cis lesbian saying “i would not hypothetically date any trans woman ever”, or conversely a cis gay man saying “i would not hypothetically date any trans man ever”, you are transphobic. not because you won’t date a specific person, but because your statement reveals that you do not see trans people as their actual gender, and/or that you see trans people as a monolith instead of an incredibly varied group of people who all have different bodies and personalities, JUST LIKE CIS PEOPLE. i cannot believe how often this needs to be spelled out. it’s the same type of bigotry as lesbians who say “i don’t date bi women”: assuming something applies to an entire group of people and deciding there is zero possibility you could ever be attracted to someone from that group.
the reframing of “it is transmisogynistic to say you are not attracted to trans women but are attracted to all other women besides trans women, as this implies you don’t see trans women as real women and/or see trans women as a monolith who all look the same, have the same types of bodies, and/or have the same personalities” to “they’re saying you HAVE TO date trans women or you’re transphobic!!” is DELIBERATELY meant to make trans women look predatory.
and honestly, how incredibly presumptuous of people who ask questions like “should cis lesbians have to date trans women” to think any trans person would ever want to date them.

A reminder that antifacism is a thing you DO, not an organisation you JOIN.
Calling a hotel and telling them a KKK chapter rented their ballroom for a meeting is antifa action
Pulling down posters promoting hate groups is antifa action (and if you do, use your keys, not your hands. Some groups put razor blades behind their postings to hurt anyone who takes them down)
Addressing local tensions in your community by participating in food drives and supporting disempowered folks can be antifacist, as facist groups will use community fears to stir up hate and gain power.
Going to an event where a figure whom fascists tend to align with and peacefully protesting is antifa action, whether that speaker thinks they’re fascist or not.
It’s not a club, religion, or organization. You don’t pay dues. Being antifa means actively trying to prevent fascism from being built, usually in local ways that respond to immediate community needs. If you see ANYTHING that talks about officially joining a group or organization, it is SUSPECT.
you aren’t a burden for having bad days. you aren’t a failure for having bad days. you aren’t a a bad person for having bad days.
“Hello, my name is Sharlene Pike and I am a black transgender person originating from South Africa and working as a receptionist/host. I moved to the United States 4 years ago alone and without any support, as my parents died in my home country when I was 18. Being a transgender black female immigrant places three discrimination barriers and makes it extremely hard to socialize and find a job to live properly. Nevertheless, I tried my best. I had been working at 7 different companies as a receptionist/host/waitress for these four years, but 2 months ago I lost my job. The reasoning I was given - ‘staff reduction due to COVID-19 complications’. I have been unemployed for these 2 months, but the reason I can’t start a new job is not COVID-19. In February, I was diagnosed with stage-3 esophageal cancer. I had no prior knowledge of my diagnosis as this type of cancer can be quite concealed, and I had only two or three weeks of eating discomfort before I had a medical consultation. The company I was working at had a special program to support staff members who need expensive surgeries or therapies, and I believe my diagnosis was the true reason I was reduced, since it happened just after I told my office I might need an extended medical leave. The sum I have spent on the medical procedures only to clarify the future treatment equals my 3 salaries. The sum I’m asking for is actually covering first 6 months of treatment and the cheapest drug - basically simply to have a chance to survive. I have no health insurance and I can’t take a new job because my health condition significantly deteriorated. The thing that I have learnt throughout these months is that it is very hard to get any, even basic medical help if you are transgender. The death rate of the esophageal cancer is about 30%, which is very high, and I ask you to help me to have a chance to survive. I tried to deal with everything without anyone by my side, but current circumstances left me with no choice but to ask you to donate and share my story. Thank you very much.”
this gofundme was started on june 19th, 2020 and as of june 30th, 2020 she still needs donations! i’ll reblog with the donation link in one moment.

Bro, christopher columbas was a colonizer piece of shit and all, but if youre not talking about the forced sterilization of indigenous women, the lack of access to clean drinking water on reserves, the missing indigenous women who go missing with no investigation, or any of the other multitudes of indigenous issues happening currently today, your bonus woke points for saying fuck christopher columbus arent worth shit tbh
Hope it's okay to add to this, I wanted to know more about these specific issues so here are some links for people:
on forced sterilization
on water crises
on missing persons (also here)
Wikipedia article outlining major issues
I think those are pretty US-centric, so here is Canadian info:
8 Key Issues for Indigenous Peoples in Canada
water crises (Canada-specific)
history and social info about their oppression
Lastly, I started wondering if Alaska has unique issues for its indigenous population, and it appears to:
info on Alaskan Natives' history
"10 things you should know" (including hardships they face)
info on cops in Alaska
info on hawaiian sovereignty
All of this also applies to indigenous populations in Latin America and the Caribbean, and non-whitepassing Native + Mestizo Latinxs stateside as well.
Please don't forget the whole other half of the Americas + the other American continent in your indigenous activism just because those indigenous peoples reside in the global south when they face the same colonial violence and racial/sexual terrorization and genocides as their northern neighbors & cousins.
Lmao @ all the people saying “there can’t be 14 days of paid sick leave in the US because small businesses will suffer and the economy will fail!” you are aware there are countries that normally have paid sick leave that are doing fine right ? Like how much fucking Reaganite brainwashing does one need to think basic care for workers will crash the economy. Death to America
The world if Reagan’s assassination was successful
If the civilization we've built is so fragile and cruel that basic kindness and understanding would destroy it, then it deserves to fall.
Damn ok that’s deep my post is 10x better now
I think in this case, "statue removal" should mean "return the Black Hills mountain range to the Lakota and let them decide what to do about the nonsense marring the face of Six Grandfathers" rather than causing any further damage to a desecrated holy site
Reminder that it really doesn’t matter what ways you’re marginalized, if you’re not black you’re just as capable of anti blackness as white cishet people. No amount of “but I’m gay!”, “but I’m trans!”, or “but I’m not white!” changes that.
And being neurodiverse/disabled isn’t an excuse for anti blackness either.
Don’t like this post if you’re not gonna also reblog it.
Boost my voice, don’t just like it for woke points.
I’d fucking love it if white people didn’t use this post to pat themselves on the back. I guarantee that no amount of “don’t people know this already?” or “isn’t this obvious?” will actually make you a good ally to black people.
The only things that will make you a good ally to us is listening to us, boosting our voices, defending us when we need it, calling out your fellow whites when they display overt and/or covert racist behavior, and checking yourself consistently.
