This is a comparison of different folding bike wheel sizes, by Downtube founder Yan Lyansky, Ph.D (taken from the blog on downtube.com)
Buying a folding bike is quite different than buying a regular bicycle. The fact that the bike folds is only one consideration. For traditional bikes, the frame and wheel size are the starting point, as...

Christmas will be here before you know it! Wouldn’t it be cool to have a new folding bike for 2016? Here’s a recent review from a happy customer who purchased a Downtube bike via Amazon!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! If you missed out on #SmallBusinessSaturday or #CyberMonday it's not too late to browse our website to find the perfect new gift for you or a loved one! Travelers, campers, bike enthusiasts, RV'ers, festival goers, boaters, pilots, commuters, college students, even kids, love these cool affordable #foldingbikes! Not sure about shifting gears on your bike? Check out the Downtube 8H Shimano Nexus 8sp w/ Gates carbon belt drive! The 8H has no rear derailleur or external shifter. It has no cogs or gears as well as no chain. That means you don’t have to be concerned about improper shifting or cleaning the drivetrain. It also gives you clean and quiet riding without the chain, lubrication, stretch, or maintenance.
Downtube Nova 2010 Folding Bike Impressions
I’m no bike expert so I’m not going to call this a “review”. I haven’t owned a bike in 10+ years and never owned a folding bike before. I did bike a lot when I was a kid though.
I had some issues receiving the bike thanks to UPS, but Downtube seems like an honest small business when all was said and done.
I got this bike because I live in a small apartment that makes bike storage difficult. I was also hesitant to invest in a bike rack for my car that would allow me to get the most use out of the bike. A folding bike eliminates both of my concerns with owning a bike.
I went with Downtube after looking for reviews of folding bikes. Lots of people swear by them, and they have the advantage of being compatible with mostly standard bike parts for upgrade and repairs (besides the folding frame).
I paid $331.50 after shipping. This is about average low-end for a compact folding bike. Several of the other bikes I looked at were closer to $400. It’s not cheap when compared with regular bikes; you are paying for the additional complexity of the folding frame and it’s convenience.
The bike itself is just 25 lbs (11.34 kg) and the frame is made of an aluminum alloy. When folded I can easily lift and carry the bike with one arm. Folding and unfolding the bike only takes about a minute. Even the pedals fold to save room.
Since I got the bike, (when not riding) it hasn’t left my car’s trunk. It fits nicely taking about 75% of the trunk space. This bike would fit in almost any average car trunk. It’s been great to be able to pull-out my bike and ride on a whim wherever I am.
The only negative I’ve seen with the bike’s construction is the black powder-coat on the seat stem, every time I adjust the seat it laves a mark where seat release tightens… This does mark my preferred hight, but I don’t like the look of it. The handle bars have been less of an issue, but I fear the black trim won’t stay nice looking for long because both the seat and handlebars are adjusted every time the bike is folded/unfolded. Only time will tell.
Riding the bike is just about like any other bike I’ve owned. The smaller wheels (20" vs 26") make bumps a little more noticeable, and the lower frame doesn’t allow for “curb hopping”. The 7 speeds seems to be more than adequate for normal riding. I haven’t clocked the top speed yet, but I’d guess I can get it to about 20 mph on a flat road, and can easily keep-up with my friends’ bikes.
The seat is a little hard for long rides, and I may end-up upgrading it or getting a gel cover.
Overall I’m satisfied with my purchase. Owning a regular bike would be a challenge for me in my current situation, plus I have the added portability that my friends lack with their bikes.

Here's a nice little review I just found, of the Downtube Nova from a few years ago. Thanks @by-nate
Downtube Race is an all new super lightweight kids mountain bike. It has 9 speeds and is 27sp ready.
In 2013 Dr. Yan was looking for a kids mountain bike for his children. Unfortunately the only options he found were of inferior quality, hence he decided to design his own. Our long awaited kids model is finally available for sale just in time for #Christmas. We offer the bike with two forks options a rigid lightweight aluminum fork for smaller kids ( 6 - 10 yrs old ), and a suspension fork with a taller frame for older children ( 10-14 yrs old ). The rigid aluminum fork with low tire pressure will work very well for lighter children, since their weight will not create enough force to engage the suspension fork. While older kids will love to fly down single track with the quality suspension fork. Bikes are not easy to fit for adults, can you imagine how hard it must be to fit a growing child in which all measurements change? To allow for easy fitting adjustments we use an angle adjustable stem. As your little one grows you can loosen the stem bolt to increase the virtual top tube length, hence a custom fit is always easy. You will not find this feature on any other quality #kidsbike.
Our resident competitive cyclist reviews this folding bike targeted towards boaters.
Here’s a more recent review from boatingmag.com! These bikes are great for boats, RV’s, festival-goers, compact cars. Folding bikes are perfect for anyone who loves to travel or doesn’t like the hassle of a bike rack!
It may be 9 years old, but it's a solid review from top to bottom!
