@downwardfalling
reasons.
My two yr old is looking through a book about prehistoric art and she saw a picture of those cave painting of hands and she held up her own and said "hand!" And I gotta be honest. That hit
You are going to laugh until your stomach hurts again. You're going to be in awe of a sunset. Watch your favorite show while you eat your favorite food. Find money on the street. Discover a great band you haven't heard of before. You will find your way back.
“The lights are out on all of us. We go on in our dark fogs. Unless someone else turns to look your way & lights the light.”
— Molly Brodak, from Bandit
Caylin Capra-Thomas, “Search History Sad”
“you’re so sensitive” i was born with a poet’s soul. bitch
maybe it’s about going gently. maybe that doesn’t mean everything will be gentle to you, but that you can be gentle to yourself. maybe it’s about the voice of kindness that you use, not the difficulty of the task ahead.
i love you. you made a mistake? i dont care i love you. you made a wrong choice? love you. you don’t think you’re good for anything? guess what you’re good for loving i love you
i was 15 when i made this post and i’m 25 now, and still seeing people reblog and tag this with things about their lovers or their friends or characters or themselves or that they really needed this today. i dunno it just feels really special to me. thank you, keep loving each other, i still love you.
Just finished hamlet & had to share THIS
btw this is literally what goes down. it’s great.
You just know the ye olde peasants went NUTS at that last part
“Wait for me as I wait for you. Do not withdraw unless you cannot do otherwise. Live, be bright and curious, seek what is beautiful, read what you like, and when the break comes, turn to me, who will always be turned to you. I now know much more about you and about myself than I ever knew. That’s why I know that to lose you is to die in a certain way.”
— Albert Camus to Maria Casarès, Correspondance, [July 1], 1949 [#66]
Mohammed El-Kurd, from Rifqa; "This Is Why We Dance"
Saddest thing ever is reading an academic paper about a threatened or declining species where you can tell the author is really trying to come up with ways the animal could hypothetically be useful to humans in a desperate attempt to get someone to care. Nobody gives a shit about the animals that “don’t affect” us and it seriously breaks my heart
“No I can’t come out tonight I’m sobbing about this entomologist’s heartfelt plea for someone to care about an endangered moth”
This is how I learn there's a moth whose tiny caterpillars live exclusively off the old shells of dead tortoises.
[Image description: text from a section titled On Being Endangered: An Afterthought that says:
Realizing that a species is imperiled has broad connotations, given that it tells us something about the plight of nature itself. It reminds us of the need to implement conservation measures and to protect the region of which the species is a part. But aside form the broader picture, species have intrinsic worth and are deserving of preservation. Surely an oddity such as C. vicinella cannot simply be allowed to vanish.
We should speak up on behalf of this little moth, not only because by so doing we would bolster conservation efforts now underway in Florida, [highlighting begins] but because we would be calling attention to the existence of a species that is so infinitely worth knowing. [end highlighting]
But is quaintness all that can be said on behalf of this moth? Does this insect not have hidden value beyond its overt appeal? Does not its silk and glue add, potentially, to its worth? Could these products not be unique in ways that could ultimately prove applicable?

I was so inspired by this I made it into a piece of art for a final in one of my courses for storytelling in conservation
youre weirdly obsessed with finding meaning
what do you mean by this
