Lucifers type:
Tall and could Kill you.
Voxs type:
Tall and could Manipulate you.
Alastors type:
Loud, Flat faced and Fuckin stupid.
My take on all the main sinners sins
Angel- Gluttony, he is always looking for more of what will make him feel better in the moment. We see this with the way that he treats drugs and the way he treats Husk at first. He wants to feel better now no matter what the cost of that is. That's why his journey involves him putting himself in uncomfortable situations instead of takeing the easy way out.
Husk- Sloth, Husk knows how to help himself. We see with Angel that he understands what will make his life better he simply wont do it. It's becuase he thinks this is what he desvers that cuases him to have inaction. His ark is him learning to become more active instead of leting life happen to him.
Nifty- Lust, she is always after something just put of reach. She is never very of what's happening in the present moment. In season 1 she is constantly hitting on the guys with out any real intrest in them as people. That bit after it starts with sorry where she calls him not a bad boy and kicks him. Even outside of that her obession with unobtainable things like single handedly cleaning the whole hotel or killing all the rats and roaches is her defining trait. What will she do when she gets there? Fine the next thing to pursue. That's why her ark is her geting close to Baxster as a person.
Alastor- Wrath, his motivating force is being mad at shit. He's mad at Rosie for controlling him, he's mad at Vox for wanting to use him, he's mad at Lucifer for haveing power he dosn't have acess to. There's a case to be made for envy but if felt safe he wouldn't be envious. He feels endangered by being less powerful than anyone and his fight or flight picks fight every time.
Mimzy- Greed, obviously she has that tattoo. Girl takes what she wants and dosn't care if her friends end up paying her tab.
Vox- Envy, obviously that's just brighter. Man is never content.
Vel- Pride, "I'm that hashtag bitch and I will do exactly what I please."
Val- Greed, Val has everything he could ever want and is a workaholic. He wants "hot new angel sults", he wants angel all the time, he wants Vox all the time, he wants make flim after flim after flim. It's never enough things for him. He always wants more.
Carmmila- Sloth, her magir sins are inaction. She dosn't want to fight the angels out of fear. She dosn't want ti stand up to Vox out of fear. She needs to take action when she really wants to take no action.
Rosie- Gluttony, It's a bit in the more with the cannibal and I nearly said greed but, her sins are more about indulgence than trying to get more. (I also almost said pride but I feel like thats saying Alastor is pride) I think wanting more than her fair share of the deal out of Alastor is Gluttony. She is stringing out this deal so she can get more out of it instead of geting what ever it is that she needs him to do. As Bee says in helluva boss. "I'm what you want not what you need."
Pentious- Sloth, like with Carmilla and Husk, Pentious knew what the right thing to do was and chose inaction instead. His redemption was learning to take action instead of sitting on the sidelines.
Cherri- Wrath, she is angry all the time.
Baxter- Pride, he thinks he is the best.
I know everyone thinks Alastor had a loving mother and an abusive father, but...
What if he had neither?
What if Alastor was an orphan that was raised in a church?
And the mother he was talking about was the mother nun?
I’m really attached to my headcanon of his mother, but this has just the right amount of angst for me to enjoy.
It would be incredibly interesting if Alastor was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage, and he came to see a nun as his mother figure.
It could be wholesome but…..
What if she were a figure he wouldn’t be able to monopolize because she would need to equally tend to the other children.
And what if she didn’t even treat him kindly. The nuns at my Catholic school were very stern and strict. That’s my only point of reference but I have no reason to think it was any different back then.
(In fact, considering the history of POC orphans and the church, it was worse.)
Maybe she even singled him out, because in her eyes, there was something about Alastor that wasn’t quite right. Something she needed to stomp out.
But because she’s all he had as an example, Alastor still sees her as a mother figure all the same.
And he ends up latching onto her, creating an idolized version of her in his mind to fill in the gaps.
At that point, him calling her his mother becomes utterly heartbreaking.
(Note: I actually went looking for orphanages that might have existed during Alastor’s lifetime and found the Lafon Orphan’s Boys Asylum, which opened in New Orleans in 1893. Imagine poor man-hating Alastor in an all boys orphanage.)
2 facts about Viv I'm gona beat people over the head with.
1) She is asexual.
2) She writes from experience.
So when your picking apart the way especially Angel and Alastor are writen rember there writen from experience. That dosn't mean you have to like it but don't pretend she's just doing things for no reason. She is representing herself. (At least with these aspects of the characters.)
percy jackson treating the color blue as a superstition, because when he was a kid it was an inside joke between his mom and him, because it was the one part of his childhood his jerk stepdad couldn't invade since he didn't even understand it, because it proved his mom loved him. after all he told her one time in the second grade that his favorite color was blue and she immediately decided to make it Their Thing.
the awkward 11 year old kid on financial aid at his fancy private school, with blue candy wrappers in his pocket and a blue eraser so he won't fail the test. blue marker doodles on his arm that he drew in the lobby of the principal's office so he won't get expelled (again.) blue t-shirt on the first day of summer, so maybe his stepdad won't take notice of him when he comes back from boarding school. blue birthday cake so the next year will be lucky and blue pancakes because him and his mom made them together and blue backpack so maybe this school will be the one where people will treat him like he's Normal.
he's wearing a red jacket when the Minotaur attacks him and his mom on Half-blood Hill and he'll never wear that color again. when it's time to pick roommates in sixth grade at Yancy Academy and he doesn't have any friends to reach for immediately, he picks the boy with the blue shoes. this boy's name is grover underwood and he's a good roommate choice because later he'll turn out be a great satyr and one of the best friends this kid's ever had. percy wraps blue paper tape on his sword's hilt when the leather grip is falling apart and the walls of his mom's boyfriend's apartment (the jerk stepdad died) are dark blue so maybe this new guy will be cool. sally and paul's wedding ring is a blue diamond so yeah, he's cool. fuck.
they can think he's weird. superstitions mean nothing in greek mythology. but he's just scared. Luke Castellan's eyes were blue but when Kronos possessed him, they turned gold. nine year old in his fourth boarding school in four years, walking home wondering if his mom still cares because he doesn't know she's sending him away to make the monsters lose track, he just thinks she's sending him as far as possible from her. being reassured by the fact that she remembered to bring blue candy from her job at Sweet on America to greet him home for Christmas break and his stepdad will call them weird but he won't take notice.
he'll redo the blue paper tape on the sword's hilt for the entire month after the battle of manhattan so nothing else goes wrong, kronos won't come back, it'll really be over. and when that goes doesn't work and the giants rise on August 1st he'll wear blue instead of his CHB t-shirt so Gaea will fall.
he'll be ok. it'll be ok.

my daily affirmation as an author
Everyone reblog this. Mandatory.
I think the part that upsets me most about RS discourse is the assumption that Vox’s anger and resentment of Alastor are only about his unrequited ROMANTIC (and implicitly sexual) feelings for him, with an undercurrent of those feelings being seen as inherently selfish and shallow.
When in reality what Vox seems most torn up about is losing what he thought was his first ever FRIENDSHIP, and that pain haunting him well into the present day even when he’s found new friends who love him unconditionally. Alastor’s favorite way to play into this is to refer to him with friendly terms like “old pal” or “my friend.” Season 2 centers heavily on recognizing the friends that are there for you and it’s because of their love for Vox that Velvette and Valentino are the ones to both defeat and save him.
So it’s frustrating to see Vox’s feelings for Al reduced to just “he’s just a bitter incel who’s mad he didn’t get to fuck him” out of people who allegedly recognize there are other kinds of love besides romantic or sexual. Even if Vox’s feelings were ALSO romantic, acting like “romantic=sex=shallow and selfish” is ALSO incredibly short-sighted.
And even if Alastor didn’t reciprocate Vox’s romantic feelings, he still had no respect for Vox’s platonic feelings, either. It wasn’t just the fact that Alastor rejected him, but that he did so in such a purposefully cruel way that included denying he ever liked Vox platonically. That is what seemed to hurt Vox the most. So, once again, framing it as though Alastor was “betrayed” by Vox isn’t accurate, because Alastor had no respect for Vox’s platonic feelings, either.
Is Vox wrong to keep holding a grudge? Of course he is! But he’s not a Nice Guy or an incel, and Alastor is not innocent in this either. That’s what makes their whole dynamic so fascinating! But reducing it to *just* an unrequited romance is pretty shallow and misses how much is built on their platonic feelings for each other!
