a meeting in the moonlight || open
darlingsdiamonds:
Sabrina had originally planned on closing the store early, but due to the meteor shower, the amount of customers coming in had doubled. The Garden was filled with couples, and possible soon-to-couples, buying bouquets, baskets, and whatever else the store had to offer. There were a variety of people talking about the romantic nights they had planned. Something she couldn’t relate to. It was the main reason she thought of going home and missing the shower, but she felt that she should take advantage of the time off now. Who knew the next time she’d be able to see one? It also served as great inspiration for a new jewelry line.
Clear skies with as little people as possible was the goal. Great for her focus and social anxiety. And that’s when she came across a dock far away from the crowds of people that lined the beaches and streets to see the show that would be starting soon. Out of her bag she pulled out a small blanket to sit on and her sketching journal. Once she placed the blanket down, she made herself comfortable and opened the book to start sketching when inspiration struck. But before that could happen, someone spoke up.
“I-I’m sorry! I didn’t think someone else would be here… W-were you expecting someone?”
hmm. he looked her over once, pale eyes searching her face. he’d seen her around town before, hadn’t he? he couldn’t quite place her - some store, perhaps - but there was something about her quiet demeanor, her lovely features and the gentle way her eyes twinkled in the moonlight, that seemed vaguely familiar.
or maybe not. oh well, he supposed it didn’t really matter. truth be told, he really wasn’t in the mood for company - no, not on a night like this - but as he tried to work up annoyance for having his plans ruined, he instead found himself enveloped by this strange sense of ... calm. was it because she was a stranger? or maybe because she seemed like the shy type, someone who wouldn’t pry?
perhaps on any other night, he would have instantly turned to toying with her, doing whatever he could to get a rise out of her, to keep her at arms-length as he did everyone else in town. but tonight ... perhaps tonight, it would be all right to let his guard down, at least for a few minutes. and if this did end up working against him in the future ... well. he’d just have to deal with that later.
‘ no, it’s just me. please don’t worry about it. is it all right if i sit with you? i’ve heard it’s more enjoyable to view the stars with others rather than just by yourself. ’
