Hey what if mushrooms

They’re the reincarnations of all other life forms

So reincarnated tree-mushrooms are the ones that help trees get nutrients from rocks

Shrooms that decompose trees are reincarnated animals that lived in/by trees

And those mushrooms where one is tasty and its exact look-alike kills you dead very painfully is reincarnated of monarch butterflies and the ones that look just like them but aren’t poisonous and they just look like that so they don’t get eaten

I look out the window and what do I see?

Empty lawns, empty streets

Occasionally a car drives by

but no one ever steps outside to say hi

No plants but grass on endless lawn

Flowers, fruits, and bugs are gone

No shade to cool as sun beats low

The trees were cut down long ago

The quiet is what gets me most

No bees to buzz, no birdcalls boast

Sometimes though, the birds will sing

their absence makes the silence ring

It's a sunny summer day

Why are no kids out to play?

Parents keep them locked up tight

hoping screens will make it right

"People live here" is what they say

but I doubt it in the light of day

A car zooms by, the engines coast

the silence lingers like a ghost

Sometimes I look outside and dream

Of laughter, sprinklers, kids running free

Of flowers blooming, of tire swings in fruit trees

Of what "American dream" was supposed to mean

#It is so quiet #maybe I should try the good old “scream really loud and hope someone hears” method #except then the HOA gets mad

Hey what if I went and wrote an Intrulogical piece about how physics people are wrong all the time so they get to rebuild their understanding of the universe every time they learn something new

And they don’t always understand the things they find but it’s proof there’s always something new to learn about everything

And then I make it a metaphor for self-love and being open to making mistakes because then you learned something new

Ship's Rats AU

Basic concept is the Axiom (from WALL-E) has a whole 'nother side of society that lives out of sight: humans who hide in the walls, keeping fit and harboring plants and animals. Consequently they still have bones and are agile and have strong teeth with a much greater bite force than the visible populus.

Every once in a while, a ship's rat will approach a vissy (or vizy), maybe not to bring them into the walls, maybe just to talk to someone new or see that joy spark in their eyes when they realize just how much of the world there is.
