i know its a cliche pick, but requiem of blood and moonlight just has so many great moments and aspects to it
buddy trying and failing to look cool while chase ignores him entirely, buddy and deacons surprising but welcome team up (and sass off), the books piss poor writing being demonstrated by the worlds weird logic (the double moon scene is one of the funniest moments in the comic), and who can forget buddys coffin moment and him and chase being soft with each other
it was cheesy and ridiculous and silly and exactly what first made me fall in love with this story and its characters. plus as the arc before still waters, it gets an honorary mark for being the beginning of the end, so to speak. when the story started really leaning into buddys backstory, and the darker parts of what all is going on. not quite digging into it yet, not like still waters does, but definitely setting the stage.
and set the stage it does- between learning more about the parts of buddy he keeps hidden, seeing him opening up a little bit, and him learning about prunella nothing could follow but the final arc in the season. it organically raised the tension and stakes so still waters could have a head start, letting punko shift the tone way faster.
requiem of blood and moonlight does its job as an arc, and it does it well. its a fun time, and it builds a lot for the story from the plot to character dynamics, especially both deacon and chases relationships with buddy
still waters is a *close* second though i got caught up with fast pass on chapter 58, still waters (II) and the emotional distraught i felt was Much
