an actor’s statements about their character are not as factual and unbiased as some people think they are. i think we forget that actors have a much different experience while filming a movie or show than viewers get when they watch it: they read the scripts, which are sometimes changed on short notice, they take direction from the director which may conflict with their own interpretation of the material, and occasionally they have to film multiple versions of a scene, sometimes with slight differences and sometimes with changes that alter the plot completely. and they typically don’t get to see the final product until the audience does. so, no matter how they approached their role or what they intended, through editing, reshoots, and last-minute cuts, the performance can (and often does) come across to the audience in a way that does not match an actor’s expectations. this does not mean that behind-the-scenes info or a statement given during an interview changes what we actually see on screen. i don’t like it when viewers use those things as “evidence” to confirm or deny a ship, to vilify or justify a characters’ behavior, or anything else of that nature.
i’m not saying actors can’t dislike or disagree with changes. in fact, i sympathize. regardless of your profession, anyone who’s been employed knows that you sometimes bear the burden of decisions made by higher-ups. and if there’s a large audience, the stakes are high—actors are often bullied horrendously. it must be disappointing to spend your time and creative energy on a final product that doesn’t turn out the way you wanted or expected. still, i do not want you to quote at me unless it’s the actual dialogue from the actual piece of media you’re referencing and not a clip from the press tour or something.
top tier character trait will always be “I care about you deeply, even though I betrayed you. even though I would do it again” I don’t make the rules
he was born in grief, and that shadow hung over him all his days

the writers' load bearing misogyny
too many people are under the impression that the holocaust is well known because they think it was white on white violence and not because the nazis fucking invented murder factories
for clarity's sake i feel the need to point out op doesn't mean "murder factories" metaphorically, the holocaust is notable for the industrialised methods of killing people. like, the nazis strategised about how to kill as cheaply and quickly as possible at scale
dude they fucking mastered the art of mass murder to the point that a whole new term needed to be coined for it.

AEGON II TARGARYEN and JACAERYS VELARYON + parallels
#i owe all the jacegon girlies who were writing them in s1 an apology i thought you shipped them bc they were hot but now i see the vision#there was a prompt for a fic that was like. what if aegon was rhaenyra's firstborn and jace was alicent's and honestly. galaxy brain concep#i dont know if anything would actually change. im so serious. i dont think anything would fundamentally change#would jace want to marry helaena if he was her brother like aegon was? would aegon feel his bastardly keenly esp if he didnt look targ??#would jace turn to drink as a crutch from all the pressure of being told if he's not king his family dies?#would he still care about learning valyrian if he looked targaryen? would his and vermax's bond be as strong as aegon and sunfyre's?#would aegon love his younger brothers or would he resent them for not being born first to spare him of the weight of the crown?#would aemond feel any differently towards jace -- who also had a dragon from birth -- than he did about aegon?#they're the same!! they're the SAME and it doesnt MATTER!!!!!#“i never asked for this.” i know!! neither of you did!!!! but you dont get a choice!! now go die for the cause like a good boy!!!!!! They have been forced together — they’re family, and husband and wife, mother and father to two children — and none of this was their decision, their choice. We have come from very different angles and tried to find some kind of connection, some sort of electricity that goes between each other. — Tom Glynn-Carney
