Illusionary || Rikku
What did the girl want, an index on her life since she left Home? There really wasn’t much else to it; she had given herself time to relax instead of worry about how she was going to live wandering through cities. She had some stability in her life, something to secure her at least a little bit. It wasn’t something she would need in order to thive, or even something she depended on to live. It was like picking up a hobby - she found it interesting, even fun, and that was that.Â
She watched, felling the tug on her wrist as the younger female suddenly seemed to have a brilliant idea, or so Rikku would believe. They often led to disaster, something she had finally been getting Yuna keen on before she parted ways with them, back then. She was almost concerned, leaving Yuna alone with Rikku and her crazy ideas, but knowing Shuyin was there to keep them in place lightened her worries.
At least they had someone to pull them out of reckless antics while she was gone.
Or so she hoped.
The beach. The last time she’d been to the beach was when she first arrived in Aphrodite. She’d wandered into the city following the shoreline, so it wasn’t much of an outing or anything… she couldn’t really call it going to the beach when she had only been using it as a way to guide herself idly through the area, wandering into the town after a few days of dipping her feet in the cool water as she walked on. She wound up with quite a tan, something she almost never had, even living in a desert.Â
She sighed, knowing there would be no fighting her once she got an idea. She’d be sure to annoy the hell out of Paine until she caved, and after working on chart after chart for the shop she wasn’t ready for arguments, especially in front of her customers.
She shot her a look before slipping out of her seat, pulling her wrist from the Al Bhed’s grip and grabbing the laptop from the small table. “Wait here.” She disappeared around a corner, out a door and up the stairs to her apartment to drop off her laptop and grab her keys before returning down the stairs.
She walked over to an employee, instructing them to close up shop when it was time, since she would - reluctantly - be out for the day, dragged along with the hyperactive childhood friend of hers.
“Well,” She started, looking to the younger female as she returned to stand across from her. “Lead the way.”
The blonde knew the moment she sighed that Rikku had gotten her way, a triumphant grin slipping on her face as she obediently waited as the girl disappeared further into the cafe. A few minutes later, she was ready to go find the girl out of boredom but finally saw the shock of silver hair reappearing in her field of vision to which she came to meet halfway.
"'Kay!"
Rikku, despite knowing all too well of Paine and her touchiness about...well, being touched, grabbed her hand and started leading her out of the crowded place, letting go once they had made it to the sidewalk. While the Al Bhed often could find herself getting lost in the city rather easily, there was always one place she could navigate toward with no problem- the beach.
Trying to keep in pace with the much more patient warrior, Rikku resisted the urge to rush out ahead, also for fear of losing her in the crowd. That was the one thing she hated about the city- everything was all so cramped, crammed into one place where people were forced to weave through each other all the time. Back Home, it was so much more open; allowed her space to breathe and run around without fear of actually running into anyone.Â
Maybe that was another reason why she loved the beach so much- the open space reminded her of Home, the sand another warm reason as well.
Finally, they had reached the transition from concrete to sand, the ocean waves roaring in the distance as cool wind carried the scent of salt toward them, as if inviting them further in.Â
"Hey, Dr. P- when was the last time 'ya ever actually, y'know, took a dip?"
She shot a grin over to the girl, running toward the shore, boots kicked off in the process as she dipped her feet into the refreshingly cold water.
