can you tell us about some of your ""difficult"" children at the compound?
Yes! I would love to, i adore these buys but they really do need forever homes. These are the ones i have pictures of at the moment, but not all of them by any means.
Benson is our oldest resident, he's been here almost 9 years now. Benson the Growlithe was trained to be a mobility dog! He knows how to open cabinets, fridges, doors and drawers, and retrieve items for her handler. Problem is He wont do it on command, and instead just opens and closes everything all the time. He is also fond of "retrieving" drinks from the fridge and hiding them around, under pillows, in doorways, behind furniture, ect. Anyone looking to adopt Benson will have to have a heavily childproofed house. Benson has unfortunately been adopted and returned three times now, and can be a little distrustful at first, but is the sweetest boy once he gets to know you.
Sunny the growlithe on the other hand is a ray of sunshine! She was trained as an emotional response dog, her job was to fetch medicine for a crying or panicking handler and then comfort them until the episode passed. Sunny knows her job very well and will leap into action whenever she sees anyone crying. At all. even people on the TV. She also doesn't quite know the difference between a medicine bottle and any other similarly sized item. So if you want a dog who will bring you potatoes, single shoes, shampoo bottles, or even bigish rocks at the first sign of sadness, Sunnys the pokemon for you!
Buckwheat the Galarian ponyta is a sad case, as he had actually already been placed with a handler for almost 2 full years before being returned to us. Buckwheat had been trained as a seeing eye pony for a wonderful 7 year old girl, who worked with us the entire time so they could learn together. They were an incredible team, but unfortunately, due to the negligence of another trainer, he was attacked by a free roaming houndoom and because of this he is fearful and aggressive towards basically any pokemon with sharp teeth. (examples of pokemon he has been aggressive towards: Eevee, ivysaur, ratata, growlithe, charmander) He will need a very patient home, and must be kept out of battling, as his vet has advised that any future damage could re traumatize him, potentially worse. Buckwheat is still in rehab and is not currently open to adoption.
Bonsai the Ratata is an honorable mention, as my own failed foster. She was trained to fetch and return small dropped and forgotten irems, like keys, pens, medicine, ect. Bonsai was doing very well, and almost done with his training, when a visitor to the complex broke the rule about not playing with pokemon in training. She waited until the volunteer was distracted to let out her own pokemon (also against the rules) and teach baby Bonsai her new favorite game.... Keep away. This obviously was a problem as she now would fetch, but wouldn't return, items. After a few months of trying to walk back that mistake i had grown fond of her, and adopted her as soon as she was dismissed from the program.
All our adoptees are already altered (cant reproduce) and are up do date on all vaccines and basic training! Maybe I'll do more little blurbs about our adoptable guys if this goes over well
