#probably not what op is referring to but i keep thinking about those thinkpieces that are like #'straight cis men HATE astrology because they are all obsessed with facts and logic and reason and rationality >:( #meanwhile women are intuitive and spiritual and emotional and have a better grasp on astrology <3' THIS IS TRAD SHIT. THIS IS MISOGYNISTIC #YOU'RE SAYING THE SAME SHIT CONSERVATIVE MISOGYNISTS HAVE SAID ABOUT MEN AND WOMEN FOR CENTURIES AND JUST TACKING ON 'AND WOMEN ARE GOOD'
“I didn’t and still don’t like making a cult of women’s knowledge, preening ourselves on knowing things men don’t know, women’s deep irrational wisdom, women’s instinctive knowledge of Nature, and so on. All that all too often merely reinforces the masculinist idea of women as primitive and inferior – women’s knowledge as elementary, primitive, always down below at the dark roots, while men get to cultivate and own the flowers and crops that come up into the light. But why should women keep talking baby talk while men get to grow up? Why should women feel blindly while men get to think?” - Ursula K. Le Guin

Hey,
So you guys can understand why including books on Native spirituality and medicine in your "witchcraft" book recs is fucked up, right?
Native spirituality is not witchcraft.
Native spirituality is not shamanism.
My gods when I ask for direct advice: *gives the vaguest answer*
Me:
How I Use Fruit in Spell Jars
As most of y'all know, produce like fruit other fresh options all have a place in witchcraft. Summer stone fruits in particular are some of my favorites to use, as well as strawberries, apples, and some cherries.
But Ander, you said that you never add anything with water into your spell jars! And you're right! That's why I dehydrate my fruits first! I personally use a dehydrator, but you can use an over or even let them air-dry in the sun! Just make sure to keep critters off of them!
Here's a brief tutorial on how to dry fruit in your oven (from my personal experience):
Set your oven to 200F/93C
Slice your fruit as thin as possible (berries into small chunks) and line it on a parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure nothing is overlapping.
With the door to the oven slightly cracked, let the fruit bake. Flip produce every hour or so until it's dry to your liking. If you want it super crunchy, which I recommend, this can be an all-day occurrence.
Close the oven door and turn off the oven, and let it sit overnight.
Here are a few posts of mine that explain some uses for produce!

A timeline of Norse Pagan and Norse Heathenry's development, from prehistory to modern-day, and how it arrived in North America.
I have completely overhauled the history page to make it a super extensive timeline of how modern Norse Heathenry developed, especially in North America. Now each item has its own entry!
90% of the stuff many people think every religion has is just stuff specific to Christianity.
For example, here's a list of stuff Norse Heathenry doesn't have:
Holy books or scripture
Religious doctrines, dogmas, or taboos
Dualism (good vs. evil, us vs. them, etc.)
Separation of sacred and profane
The requirement of Faith
Sin
A divine plan
A Prophet or Savior
A Satan or "tempter" figure(s)
Deities that are defined by being good or evil
Confession
The need for a mediator between you and the divine
Magical Thinking
A Prosperity Gospel
The need to put deities before human beings
Godly surveillance
Gods that are omnipotent, omnibenevolent, and omniscient
Damnation
Taboos around magic
Rules about sex
A bad afterlife as the default
A need for you to earn your worth (it's inherent)

Orange Magic
Oranges and tangerines are something that I eat a lot, especially when I'm feeling more depressed and don't want to cook. They're full of nutrients, packed with Vitamin C, and the citrus helps me feel a little more 'present' if I dissociate. It's a safe food for me.
But other than being Good Eats, oranges also have amazing spiritual values!
Orange peel can be added to money and financial spells to serious increase your gains. It amplifies the call. Adding it to front door decorations invokes good luck and a good home, while adding it to tea or food can significantly increase your luckiness for the day. It also helps you attract the person who loves you. Don't get this confused as a love spell. This is an attraction spell, not a love spell. We don't mess with love spells 'round these parts.
Orange flesh and seeds can be used as a divination tool, even for absolute beginners. If you have a yes/no question, focus on it while you peel and eat an orange. WHen you're finished with your orange, siply count the seeds. If it's odd, the answer is probably yes. If it's even, the answer is most likely no. Never take divination as a solid yes/no, things change with time and so do asnwers.
Orange juice is energizing and helps with decision making! Drinking orange juice in the morning can help you make effecting choices in the day, and also help you increase luckiness and gracefullness (less tripping over your own feet is always good).
Oranges are absolutely one of my favorite fruits to work with, along with apples and strawberries. Make an orange strawberry lemonade to help with energetic slef-love, or add orange slices to your apple cider to create what's essentially a delicious homesteading simmer pot!
As always, be safe, do your research, and blessed be!

So, I know a lot of people know this, but I haven’t seen many people talk about it, so I’d just like to remind y’all that Hermes is the god of language, and because of that, you can learn a new language as a devotional act to him. So, if you’re interested in language learning, that’s more motivation to do so. I hope some of you found this post helpful.

Hermes
Deity of the Week- Hermes
Deity of the Week- Hermes
“I sing of Hermes Kyllenios (of Mt Kyllene), Argeiphontes (the Slayer of Argus), lord of Kyllene (Cyllene) and Arkadia rich in flocks, luck-bringing (eriones) messenger of the deathless gods (angelos athanaton). He was born of Maia, the daughter of Atlas, when she had made with Zeus,–a shy goddess she. Ever she avoided the throng of the blessed gods and lived in a shadowy cave, and there Kronion [Zeus] used to lie with the rich-tressed Nymphe at dead of night, while white-armed Hera lay bound in sweet sleep: and neither deathless god nor mortal man knew it. And so hail to you, Son of Zeus and Maia; with you I have begun: now I will turn to another song! Hail, Hermes, giver of grace (kharidotes), guide (diaktoros), and giver of good things (dotor eaon)!”- Homeric Hymn to Hermes
Hermes is the son of Zeus and his nymph mother, Maia, born from their love. He is the personal messenger to his father, and also to Hades. Classically, he is depicted as a young man both attractive and athletic, or as an older man with a beard. His most famous myth is the one where upon his birth, he creeps from his cradle and travels to where his brother Apollon holds his oxen and makes off with them. He typically shown wearing winged boots or sandles while holding a caduceus.
God of:
Hermes is a god of many attributes. His most common association is him as a trickster god, or a messenger god. While both are accurate and true, his associates are far more encompassing than that:
Animal husbandry
Roads and travel
Hospitality
Diplomacy
Trade
coins
Thievery
Language
Writing
luck
Athletic contests
Astronomy and astrology
Boundries
Guide of the dead
Magic
And so much more. No God has only one facet, and to limit them in such a way is to deign them what they truly are.
Correspondences:
Plants-
Crocus- a beautiful purple flowering plant
Strawberry trees
I would also argue any plant that can be associated with death or being laid to rest can also be associated with him, as he is a guide to the underworld and is one of the only beings able to freely pass between the land of the dead and the living.
Animals-
Cattle/oxen
Turtles/tortoise
Hawks
Any bird of omens
Rooster/cock
Rams
Hares
Snakes
Guard dogs
Occupations-
Some gods are the patrons of specific jobs, job fields and hobbies. A few for Hermes are
Bike messenger
Mail person/postal worker
Diviners
Mediums
Magicians/illusionists
Merchant
Hospitality workers
Hotel and inn keepers
Travel guides
Veterinarians and Vet Techs
Animal breeders
Herdsmen/cowboys/etc
Funeral directors
Diplomats
Bankers/bank tellers
Donation center workers
and so many more. And while I wouldn’t technically consider thievery an occupation, some might. In which cause he is also the god of professional thieves.
Colors-
Red
Purple
Silver
Gold
Copper
Most colors you would associated with trade, merchants, coin, plushness, etc.(SPG)
Black(UPG)
Grey(UPG)
White(UPG)
Most colors that can be associated with death or passing can be associated with him
Scents-
Lavender
Strawberries
Frankincense( A general all around good choice for all the Theoi)
The smell of ink and parchment/paper(SPG)
Stones-
Marble or Alabaster(UPG)
It’s not stones, but metals like copper, silver, gold- anything that is or was used to make currency
Offerings:
Incense
Honey
Olives or olive oil
Wine
Milk
Turtle shells or turtle shaped objects
Coins/currency/money
Written messages(SPG)
Strawberries
Feathers(legal to own-let’s not get in trouble now)
dice
Devotional Activities:
There’s so many choices of devotional activities when it comes to Hermes.
Writing letters
Donating to homeless shelters or food pantries
Study animal husbandry
Become a magician/illusionist
Travel to another town/state/country
Try something that requires luck- cards, dice games, etc.
Learn about astronomy
Honor the dead
Learn about your ancestors
Study astrology
Pick up a sport
Workout/become athletic
Give a few coins to a homeless person
Learn other languages
Practice speaking
Learn to be diplomatic
A more modern twist to a devotional act would be to pick up merchant skills in a game, like mmorpgs. Or, avoid being a real life thief and become one in a game! There’s so many options, just let your imagination go wild.
~That’s all for deity of the week! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!~
