Oh so important notice regarding help for this show!

So, as of right now, I only have a handful of people really trying their best to actually bring this idea to life! It’s gonna be a long, hard process and right now, I feel like I need more hands to help out with concept art, plot ideas, world building, and many other future plans like voice actors, animation, and music/sound effect composition!

This is a passion project that doesn’t exactly have any real time constraints as of right now or in the near future, so this is purely if you’d like to join or not, be that to get your talents out there or just because you find the concept fun and you’d like to help out!

So, if you’d like to join or have any questions regarding this concept or questions with helping out, feel free to message me on here or at my main blog @kiwi-kitties!

So I’m back with this post again only to change a few things!

I’ve thought about it a lot and I’ve come to the conclusion that as of right now, I think it’s best to only have people who are interested in plot development and constructive criticism at the moment as animation, music composition, and other such things will come WAY later into this process!

me and two friends wanted to make World of Darkness characters based on ourselves, here’s the results :)

Adrien is the ‘classy’ ventrue vampire, who is really just a big goof.

Rowan is the bad-ass demon who could kick your ass (true to her character and irl self)

And Evan is the young thyrsus mage who just wants to survive in this new found world.

I’d love to make a comic or animated series out of this, but given my patience, that most likely won’t happen.

For a character that did little but dismiss her husband, Vashti sure gets a lot of flack. In the babylonian talmud/midrash there are misogynist texts claiming that she actually wanted to appear before the drunken guests of her husband (supposedly) only wearing her crown, but she magically got leprosy or grew a tail so she didn’t want to appear, and she was totally into forcing her jewish handmaidens to work naked on Sabbath which is why the demand by her husband was actually karma all along.   There are also some disgustingly puke-worthy articles on the website Chabad.org saying that Esther is far more “feminist” than vashti because Esther humbly only asks for the beauty products demanded for her during her stay in the harem vs Vashti (supposedly) would only agree to show herself if she looked perfect. This, the author says teaches us that Vashti saw herself “just like the men did” and that her self-confidence is completely reliant on her sex-appeal. Because all women are supposed to be modest and unassuming and if you consent to show off your sexiness makes you a lowly harlot, dontcha know? Even according to many jewish websites these midrashes are indeed sexist and probably written to demonize the local babylonian women, plus they were written almost a millennia after the time the Book of Esther takes place. Thus, these writings do not represent historical reality and I wish more christians and jewish people saw that. As a response to all this bullshit I have posted a picture intended to be a tribute to Vashti, although i have also chosen to merge her with the real Amestris, the only known wife of Xerxes I who most scholars identify as Ahashverosh. I tried to portray a woman who is neither the humble and unassuming Cinderella-figure Chabad.org paints her as, and neither as the demonized image the Midrash portrays her as. She is beautiful, prideful and ambitious for power. Xerxes was married to his wife for the entire duration of his reign and allowed a woman, Artemisia of Caria to escort his sons to safety so he’s portrayed as his wife’s number 1 fan and would never force her to do anything for sure.

I’ve told this story before but idc I’m doing it again.

My dad once taught some class at a conference. He gave everyone a worksheet and after watching them flounder for a few minutes on their own he said, “You guys know you can talk to each other and work together, right?” These were industry professionals who suddenly reverted back to that must-not-collaborate mentality when put in a classroom setting.

In case anyone didn’t know, the above is literally true. The modern public school system was designed a little over a hundred years ago by captains of industry to train people to do the dehumanizing labor needed on assembly lines.

Human beings crave meaningful work that makes them feel accomplished and resourceful. Humans like to feel like they’re part of a community, and see the results of a job well done. These desires are incompatible with industrial and post-industrial economies, so people have to be brought up in a system that crushes as much of this desire as possible and convinces them that any remaining scrap of yearning for dignified labor is not worth acknowledging or pursuing.

Class periods that aren’t long enough to devote serious thought to a subject; the bells that tell you when it’s time to eat, regardless of when you’re actually hungry; the alienating tedium of standardized testing; these things didn’t develop organically. They were designed by the people who stood to derive the greatest benefit from them.

I’ve mentioned this before, but according to a friend, even the schools are physically built in a way not designed for the ideal learning style for students, and it would cost a whole bunch of money to fix ‘em.

And, since the way our schools are funded is completely and utterly fucked…

Because schools were never meant to produce thinkers- it was designed to train labour using Pavlov’s methods. Bell rings, feel meaningful, bell rings ok relax. Ding! Time to be meaningful again! It was a problem workers would only work long enough to make money needed then leave. Factories needed dedicated sheep as workers. Hence the public school system was formed. The school system exists the way it does to teach students the Hidden Curriculum – a set of rules and guidelines for your social behaviour. Learning to be dismissed by and answer to bells, answering to and respecting authority, not conferring with other students without permission, wearing a uniform – that’s the Hidden Curriculum, teaching you how to be a dedicated little sheep for your future foreman. (This is actually a really basic sociological concept, and if you Google this phrase, this is how you’ll learn more about what schooling does to quash meaningful learning).

Her concept is a brujah who is much calmer than most others, however this is because she bottles up her anger, making her explode in outbursts.

She was embraced in the 40s when she was only 18. She saw her embrace as an opportunity and used her unlife to commit herself to her studies. She’s currently a professor.

Here’s a drawing of a character of mine :)

Her name is Ophelia and she’s from a concept me and two other friends came up with.

The idea is basically just modern day DnD. She’s a model (bard), neutral evil/chaotic neutral, and fallen Aasimar.

The storyline follows three villains and their attempts to sabbatoge their good counterparts.

Ophelia’s counterpart is a politician, and it’s a bit of a play on brains vs beauty (which is ironic as Ophelia is very intelligent and cunning which helped her move up in her modeling career, and the politician uses his good looks to gain support). The two are constantly trying to ruin the others reputation, and have Sunday tea each week as if none of it happens.

Braxton Cliffguard is the son of a mob boss (rogue/noble), lawful evil, and a high elf. He is very stuck up and cocky, which makes him hate his counterpart; a very humble halfling farmer. They don’t sabbatoge each other so much as hate each other for their clashing personalities.

Arkul is a male sex worker (not 100% sure his class, probably bard as well), chaotic neutral, and a Dragonborn. He is definitely the least evil of the three and the one who keeps Braxton and Ophelia from being absolute shit-heads. His counterpart is a priest who sees sex work/recreational sex and homosexuality as sins. So naturally they hate each other.
