The people of the DPRK deserve the fucking world after dealing with all of the endless slander and oriental stereotypes that liberals and even so-called “progressives” in the west throw onto them.

Don't forget the deliberate decades-long campaign of trying to starve them through economic siege and encirclement while blaming the victims for it. There have been constant shortages of baby formula, not enough fuel for medical supplies to reach people in rural areas in a timely or consistent fashion (though, thanks to recent developments, this is less of a problem than it once was), restrictions on purchasing fertiliser, actual fucking fertiliser, along with other agricultural equipment, in the less arable parts of an already difficult-to-farm peninsula.

Yet not only have they survived and continue to enjoy a lower infant mortality rate than other developing Asian countries, they're reversing this in real time and building alliances that could break the American siege not only on Korea, but on the whole world. They do deserve the world because the People's Republic of Korea is the most courageous nation in the world, and it would play a part in freeing humanity even if the majority of it despised them.

*This source is a bit outdated, fuel shortages are no longer as much of a problem as they once were because of trade with Russia, and I find this quite funny because the West has so thoroughly exhausted its sanctioning powers that it's accidentally creating an entirely new economic bloc where sanctioned countries have no reason not to trade with each other, since the threat of secondary sanctions is practically void.

"Dogwhistles" are called that based on real "dog whistles", many of which are pitched too high to be audible to most humans, but are still perfectly audible to dogs.

Rhetorical dogwhistles are things that most people would not be able to identify as bigoted because they're INTENDED to have plausible deniability.

The wording changes are meant to be subtle enough that people really can mix them up accidentally when they don't have much information!

So when the gender critical movement calls trans women "transwomen", they're hoping for 2 things.

this usage will spread enough among people who don't know any better, to give transphobes the plausible deniability of not LOOKING like a frothing bigot constantly.

the usage grammatically places trans women in a different category than other women; it's changing "trans" from an adjective to part of a noun to make this distinction.

The more we can avoid this usage, the less deniability have transmisogynists have when using it, and the less rhetorical ground we cede to the degendering and misgendering of trans women.

I don't actually think ceding this ground is LESS divisive than pointing it out politely.

being a trans woman means that i will basically never see myself in art made by tme people. i dont just mean that i will never see transfem characters - though this is true - but that when i read books by tme authors, even queer and trans writers, i will see in their explorations of gender that they have never considered the transfeminine experience and aren't even moderately curious about it. this is multiplied by being racialized - white as default doesn't just mean that authors default to writing white characters, but their understanding of what it is to be alive is, at the end of the day, uninterested in racialized lives as part of that tapestry.
