this is not an onion headline
a trans woman was suspended from her job at netflix because she tweeted about dave chappelle's transmisogyny and he's a multimillionaire whining about being "cancelled" you cannot make this shit up
trans allies cancel your netflix subscription and put this under reasons why (and publicly post about it) challenge
also here's the links to the articles
Dave Chappelle's comments on the transgender community in "The Closer" are stirring up feedback as he mockingly calls himself transphobic.
At least one trans employee is quitting due to the controversy.
Many in the notes have pointed out that the reason for the suspension was that this trans woman tried to attend a meeting she wasn't invited to.
Note the way in which the language used to describe the situation invokes images of violence and aggression.
Frequently it isn't "tried to attend" it's
"barged in"
"tried to force her way in"
"shoved their way in"
"crashed"
It's not just on Tumblr either, anywhere this topic is being discussed this type of language is being used to describe the actions of this trans woman.
But why? Is it true? Well it was an online meeting. How exactly one "barges into" an online meeting is beyond me.
None of the numerous articles written about the topic at hand mention any adverse consequence caused by this trans woman attempting to attend this meeting. Yet both terfs and "allies" alike speak of it like they know for sure that it was some kind of aggressive and disruptive act.
Regarding the tweets, a Netflix spokesperson has even said "Employees are encouraged to openly disagree and we support their right to do so."
How is suspending employees trying to address their concerns with the people who have the power to change things "encouraging open disagreement"?
At many other companies an employee attending a meeting they weren't invited to doesn't come close to a suspendable offense. It certainly seems to me that this suspension is implied retaliation for the tweets.
The terfs were never going to change but allies stop doing transphobes work for them by defending Netflix and baselessly describing trans women's actions as aggressive and violent challenge
Hey y'all want a fun update to the "barging aggressively into a zoom meeting somehow" story?
She was sent a link to the meeting by one of the corporate directors
Oops! Their attempt to set her up failed

Atlanta S01E04 “The Streisand Effect”
I was cleaning out my computer and I found a bunch of screenshots of text posts from 2013-2014. The golden age of tumblr.
I take no credit for these posts.
God they don’t make em like this anymore
I will NEVER see a prehistoric dinosaur
I will NEVER see an anomalocaris. I will NEVER hold a trilobite. I will NEVER see a dimetrodon or an eight foot long millipede. and I will NEVER see a pterosaur
Well as much as it pains me to say it they died
Every time I think about the entry level job paradox my head feels like it’s gonna explode.
Whenever I think about all the people that didn’t hire me to be a busser because I didn’t have any restaurant experience even though it’s the lowest ranking job in the restaurant I feel a dangerous urge to strangle a hiring manager.
Some internships ask for experience. Internships. You know. The places you’re supposed to get experience? Those things? I wanna eat a door.
Quite frankly I don’t know how anyone gets into any industry. Any of them. Office workers must just spawn like minecraft mobs or something.
That’s capitalism baby!
Let me explain:
I’m a professional animator who actually works in the field. And my uni professors would tell us that there has been a disturbing and terrible shift in the industry in many ways but allow me to explain this one in particular.
So the “experience” thing comes from the death of company training. Back in the day if I wanted to become an animator I’d approach a studio, show them my drawings and say “I want to be an animator will you teach me so I can work for you until I die?” And if my drawings were good enough, and my desire sincear the company would put me into the lowest paying shittiest job they had. Cleaning cells, polishing the cogs of the multi plane camera, organising files, sweeping the damn floor.
And then for maybe an hour or two a day I would get to sit with one of the animators and they would show me a little of what they know. I’d get training much like how I would at University except you know… I’d get paid instead of going into crippling debt.
After about three years of doing the dirty work (you know, the length of an average college course for animation) I’d get that entry level animation position. Usually an in-betweener or a cell painter. And then bing bang boom I’m on my way to working slowly through my career. And this company will want to keep me around because they’ve invested so much into me. I have bargaining power, they don’t want me going to another studio that may pay more because they trained me. So they are more likely to treat me better to incentivise that I stay.
Companies realised this and decided to switch the responsibility of training onto the employee instead of the employer. Because I have to pay tens of thousands of dollars to educate MYSELF instead of the industry educating me. I have to beg, and work for pennies, to get the experience I need to have actual value in the intustry. And because the companies have no incentive to treat me well because they have no investment in me; I can be hired and fired as they please. Oh your contract was for eight months? Too bad we blew the budget and my nephew needs another raise, you’re fired. Oh and I can’t complain, complainers get blacklisted and then nobody will hire you.
But I’m an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR which means I have so much FrEeDoM to do ‘w h a t e v e r’ I like… 🤮
It’s all bullshit. They industry has no entry level positions because they want to choke you, they want to strangle the workforce and make them submit. It’s now your responsibility to suck cock, tearfully beg and lie on your resume just to get an unpaid internship where you’re worked like a donkey and don’t you dare complain about it.
And the most insulting lie is “oh we have more college educated kids than ever using that wonderful?” NO! NO ITS NOT!!
There were less colleague grads back in the day because not every field NEEDS a college education to be performed!! Doctors and lawyers duh, but software programmers, artists, film students, animators, fashion designers, photographers ect. All used to get their training from the companies that hired them. Even more technical fields like stock brokers, bankers, miners, mechanics, ect. Didn’t have Colleges educations they just learnt on the job.
This system was not perfect or 100% ethical but fuck it was better than the anarcho-capitalist hell scape we currently occupy.
Caption: [Okay, so this is my Wooloo cosplay from 2019. Umm. I don't know if y'all can see the back. I made everything, even the resin pieces, the little clay hearts. I knitted those bows. Crocheted the headpiece and my bonnet.
I crocheted and knitted everything, yes! It is both crochet and knit. I also made my staff. And I did the clay stuff. So yes, just for anyone that's gonna ask me did I make this myself, yes. But also! I just wanna show off how cute I am.]
does anyone else remember when 19-year-old musician Lil Nas X released a single about riding horses and having fun. Became a wildly popular song. And then he was forcibly outted to the public and now every fucking day he’s fighting for his life against white supremacists and the Christian church. He’s only 22. Can you even imagine the immense pressure? The hurt you’d be experiencing in his shoes? At twenty fucking two? His music is amazing and his replies on Twitter are spot-on, but how are so many of you not enraged at what he’s being forced to endure?
can we please stop with the false narrative that lil nas x was forcibly outed? idk how that rumor got started but it’s literally not true, he’s spoken multiple times about how he wasn’t forced out of the closet and chose to come out because he was inspired by the spirit of pride month and wanted to be a role model for young lgbtq people growing up in homophobic environments. acting like it wasn’t his choice is honestly disrespectful because he came out despite knowing it would make him a target for white supremacists and homophobes and you all are erasing that incredibly brave decision in favor of painting him as some victim with no agency over his own life.

Video transcript:
Person 1: Did you know that employees are quitting instead of giving up work from home?
Person 2: So, as someone who was not able to work from home–um, I’m in a manufacturing facility, I, that’s not an option for me. I’m in this bitch right now on a Saturday. So, really not an option.
But. I wanna be really clear that we support y'all. The people that can work from home fucking should. Cause it’s better for us too. There’s less traffic, parking’s easier, uh, there’s just, there’s less stress in the whole world which benefits everybody.
People in this plant can work from home. And when they do, I can park outside easier. And I can still get up with them by calling their phones, emailing them or whatever.
This should be normal now. This should be normal. We were told it was the new normal and they tried to take us back. Fuck that shit. Work from if you can and quit if they won’t let you.

I saw this on Tiktok and thought it needed to be passed on. Pololū Valley is sacred land currently at risk of being developed into yet another "scenic tourist attraction" for profit. Activists like @/melemaikalanimakalapua on Tiktok are fighting to have this petition seen by as many people as possible in order to prevent the senseless destruction of this land.
Note that the petition says not to donate to change.org--donations to change.org do NOT protect Pololū Valley.
I hope that by spreading this to tumblr, I can help it reach more people. Please sign this and reblog it if you can!

I’m just super fucking bitter that once the flint water crisis got it’s 15 minutes of fame people stopped giving a shit. The water is still poisoned, people! Donations have plummeted and people have been forced back into drinking and bathing with the water! The medical effects of this are astounding, cases of legionnaires disease have skyrocketed, people are having seizures, people are having weird rashes break out over their body, people (including me!) are having their blood poisoned, and it’s not just lead! it’s coliform bacteria! it’s THMs! it’s all in the water and it gets into the bloodstream and breaks down blood vessels, causing bruising and petechiae and internal bleeding and no one gives a shit anymore and it’s only gotten worse like how many people are going to have to die until people realize this is still a problem
I would like to add that the people of Flint cannot sell their houses, because selling a house with leaded water is illegal. Additionally, households with children can’t stop paying for the water because living in a house without running water is cause for CPS to take their kids. Flint has been living this way for over two years.
The people of Flint are trapped by the legal system. And it is only the most high profile case out many cities with a similar problem.
Because the government has abandoned them, they are dependant on help from the outside. Donate here

Mari Copeny has taken the initiative to create a water filter. I’ve linked her GoFundMe that’s she using to raise money for it. She’s been able to raise $50k in donations but her next goal is $1 million
Water is a basic human right, it says a lot about governments that fail to provide that. Especially for a so called ‘first world country’
This is as of 4/26/21.
