is it just me or are these two literally two sides of the same coin, maybe it’s just because they look similar but they just have a similarity beyond that but i can’t pinpoint it. maybe it’s cause they’re both trolls or because they’re both oddly complex in a distinct way that’s different from most characters or normal people in general. comment/send me your thoughts.

so, as exactly (8) people know, I made a post about Mori and him being a pedo and y’all disgusting gremlins ignoring it and romanticizing him anyway. so, a few days later i got a few anonymous messages and it really got me thinking.

disclaimer: i am not attacking anonymous, what they had to say was quite interesting and i just wanted to share my thoughts which are rather jumbled but bare with me.

to summarize what anon said was “you shouldn't stan a lot of characters in bsd because their mass murders, not just mori because he’s a pedo.” and i mean, you are correcto. they are basically all serial killers, there is a mafia after all.

just a note before i continue but i get most of my bsd fandom news from Instagram bc ha, im basic and that’s where i posted a confession to an account about not romanticizing mori bc uh normalizes pedophilia and a BUNCH of people came to mori’s defense. so yeah, i hit tumblr to hit back at instagram.

i tbh don’t have a fully formulated opinion on the mass murder, stanning characters thing so here are my two side:

well, murder is one, very wrong as you big brain bitches know. now this is fiction, a character has killed at least one person, like they have. but the discussion is about mass murders like and pls dont kill me dazai and aku and ig chuuya bc well he is in the mafia oof. 

and as the fandom does, we put crimes into “ok crimes” and “no no not ok crimes” and murder in a fictional setting is ok in most peoples opinions. rape, gender and race based crimes, pedophilia is not ok crimes and this is where my thinking splits.

so, in my mori post, the main issue is that ignoring or defending him being a pedo normalizes the sexualization of girls and young children. and then i was like “does stanning dazai mean i normalize murder?” i mean, i don’t know but my assumption is no.

i say assumption bc i have never met a victim of murder so i dont know there opinion, just looking at social issues and society i am assuming no? but i dont want to put words in ppls mouths so idk.

 i dont think it normalizes it. the think with pedo’s and rapists and sexist characters is that they are a reflection of social issues. if you romanticize them, then u are catering to normalizing things like sexism and pedophilia.

honestly, i have never met a someone who has been effected by murder so honestly don’t know and i don’t want to put words in people’s mouths but i do think in fiction there is “ok crime, not ok crime distinction” and it makes sense.

now, if there’s one irl, that isnt what we are talking about so uhhhh next point. 

now there is i one point anon said that i agree with but maybe for different reasons

we know the fandom calls dazai and fyodor babies or cuties or whatever. i mean, you can think their pretty imo but i mean they aint babies. look, you can say it as a joke but a lot of bsd fans i find just ignore the fact that dazai and fyodor are bot very morally grey dangerous characters and just uwu over them which, i mean, idk. 

i mean i think there’s a different between stanning and romanticizing a character. they can sometime intertwine but stanning is kinda just appreciating that character and romanticizing is kinda like “polishing” the character to just be uwu babes. i mean, some charcters are uwu babes like atsushi. i mean, romanticizing port mafia members always confused, not bc of the moral dilemma (except mori, if i hear one uwu about him i will explode) but bc its like ur dumbing down such a complex and interesting character to just uwu sparkles.

so yeah, i dont think you should romanticize morally grey characters and if you do i wont be mad but ill be like “ew” i am sorry.

as you can see by the mess of a D- essay i don’t really know what opinion i should have. part of me is like, murder is bad!!!! and the other is like but we ain’t normalizing murder but should we be romanticizing it  and i mean do i have to unstan every murderous character in fandom history idk y’all tell me, dont kill me

ok y’all. so i’ll get straight to the point which most of you in the fandom are aware of. Mori is a pedo. like full on admitted it. just blah, he is sexually attracted to little girls. 

so, my take on Mori is that you can appreciate him as an antagonist or character. he’s a fascinating morally grey character who very well written. there is no argument on that. but what i do have an issue with is a lot of people just ignoring he is a whole ass pedophile or people who actually try to fucking defend why then stan him and him being a pedo is fine because “everyone in bsd has done horrible things.”

first, like i said. you can appreciate his complexity. even i do. but if you “stan” (and y’all know what i mean) or romanticize him i will literally cry. people in the fandom whole ass call him hot and blah blah blah when they shouldn't. 

he is a pedophile. dont try to defend it or brush it aside.

and yes, the port mafia has done bad things. but that ain’t no excuse to

defend him being a pedophile.

and to the argument i hate the most: “he isn’t real so why should it matter if we call him hot, sexy etc.”

anime has a very common norm of sexualizing women and young girls, especially in anime targeted for the adult male gaze. you are part of the problem if you use that argument. “he isn’t real.” you being fine with him liking little girls is disgusting and honestly, you are shit for brains, flat out. 

your opinions of fiction matter and effect others

shipping adults and children is toxic and normalizes pedophila.

defending a pedophile normalizes pedophila  

romanticizing a pedophile normalizes pedophila.

you are making others think it is ok to continue the sexualization of women and young girls.

you can find his character interesting and appreciate how well written and in depth it is but for the love of god, please don’t romanticize him or defend him. just because everyone in bsd has basically done horrible things dose not mean it it is alright for him to be sexually attracted to little girls. for fucks sake, have some class and
