We need to talk about Gao Tu's heat and how devastating it must have been
Sure, the series showed how aggressively the heat came on and how weakened he is after. But those who aren't familiar with the omegaverse might not know exactly how heats work or how suppressant abuse would affect it. So, let me fill you in.
Very simply, heats are when you're unbearably horny for several days. So unbearably horny you have a fever, always want to cum, always want cum, and basically can't think about anything (including food and water) but cum until heat subsides. That's why, as an omega, you have a partner to help you through your heats. Not *just* sexually, but with basic hygiene and care needs.
And Gao Tu had none of that. And never has. He has never been taken care of during a heat and has always secretly suffered through them.
Although, it seems like he has managed to not have a heat in a long, long time. This is where the suppressant abuse comes in. Heats are a normal part of being an omega. But he uses so many suppressant that it seems like he usually doesn't have them--after all, it seems like this was the first leave of absence he's taken from work in a very long time. Shen Wen Lang seemed shocked and upset that Gao Tu "had an omega partner" that he even needed time off for. This is not something that commonly occurs with Gao Tu.
Now, I can't speak on exactly how this universe is handling heats/suppressant abuse. But usually when an omega has been abusing suppressants and hasn't been having their heats, it makes the heats they do have even more unbearable and intense.
I cannot wait for all the sadness of what Gao Tu has gone through to be revealed and smack Shen Wen Lang in the face. Although, I think we have quite a bit more sadness for him to go through before that point.
