#two years ago i saw this post and i remember returning to it almost religiously truly wishing that in two years everything will be different #even though i kinda didn't believe i'd get that far #i missed myself. my old self. i lost everything that made me ME and i never thought i'd get it back #a year ago i was yearning for my 15yo self that was so much cooler than i was at that point #the me that was so full of life and creativity #always drawing or sewing or playing instruments or writing or doing cool makeup or dressing up #i felt so hollow despite not being in that awful place anymore #despite listening to new music again. despite dressing up in clothes i like. despite having friends again #and it makes me think about how even now i'm so jealous of my old friends for being so cool in my eyes because they just. do stuff #not paralysed by the fear that their ship has already sailed #but then i remember myself lying on the bathroom floor two years ago and genuinely believing that my life is over #that i'll never talk to people again. never enjoy my past interests and never discover new awesome things. that there's simply no more joy #for me to experience and in a few years my heart will give up from the stress and i'll die an unhappy nobody #and i realise that. wow. everything is completely different and if she saw me now she'd cry tears of joy #it's so hard seeing how far you've gotten when you're impatiently waiting to be at your desired destination #just yesterday i had a talk with my partner abou how i need to stop comparing myself to others and start comparing myself to... well. mysel #because most things in life are not a competition #and i draw. i occasionally write. i listen to awesome new music and play instruments and talk to people and go to shows and dress up #i care about the world and i experience joy. i did none of that two years ago.#so thank you prev for shoving this post my way right when i needed this reminder :))#i'm excited to see this again in two years and remember all the experience i've gained #echho talks
