i think it's really fun when a rly specific trope is super popular in one particular medium but in other ones it's just totally unheard of. it's the time knife. visual novel players are suuuuper used to death games but many others encountered them for the first time in squid games. the other day my mom showed me all excited the summary of a super original novel she found and it was about a girl who got reincarnated as the main character in her favorite fantasy book
what the fuck is a time knife
Time knife is a form of time knife
the time knife is NOT an example of this (from !! It gets mentioned in 2 episodes, and even then it's only for a sentence or two.

For context, this is Jewish actor Miriam Margolyes. A self-identified dyke, she was professor sprout in the harry potter movies but she's been extremely prolific over five decades. She's pro trans and pro Palestinian.
Never forget how she went and spoke to trans women / trans fems and when she said something that was ignorant (she mentioned the expectation for them to shave), she listened when they corrected her and apologized immediately. Then, when the group explained how they express gender, she went "I understand" and continued to listen and learn.
She's always one of my favorite examples of someone with celebrity status retaining humanity and speaking up for minorities.
I didn't know she was pro Palestine until now, so that makes me even happier to hear.
i’ve invented a new microwave its called microwave 2. it randomly makes your food colder 9% of the time. don’t worry i’ve already entered your home and replaced your old microwave with it. im very good at technology
this is about google’s ai overview
gonna be real i thought this was just about normal microwaves
a well written story has no one correct interpretation
This tweet read me to filth
I will always care more about the supportive cishet boyfriend at pride than i will about the wannabe cop queer person interrogating every “straight looking” couple to make sure they’re “queer enough” to be there btw. Don’t worry about your cishet boyfriend, he’s sitting with me eating an ice cream wearing a homemade little pride bracelet around his arm and he is the happiest he’s ever been in his life :]
"I can't believe humans would hunt the thylacine to extinction, humans are fundamentally evil" Hey, did you know that extinction was long thought to be impossible, and within 50 years of humans realizing that extinction via overhunting was a possibility it practically stopped happening? Did you know that humans are so desperate to prevent more losses that they're funneling millions of collective hours and billions of euros into helping other species? Hours and euros that could be spent on humans, and species on whom humanity's own survival does not depend? Did you know that due to an accidental introduction of rats, the Lord Howe Island stick insect population was brought down to 24 individuals and now there are tens of thousands of them?
This bug. This bug that, to most humans, is utterly useless, relatively gross, and completely foreign. Humans saved it because humans do not want to cause another extinction ever again if they can avoid it.
the issue with growing up in the 2000s and 2010s was like there was this really big push toward "accepting your weirdness" overall but they meant like idk wearing mismatched socks or something not being tangibly beyond the norm in any way shape or form
men really be like “well this woman has studied this subject her whole life, and i am a man, so we have equal knowledge on this”
it’s ok you could have just said “i hate men”
okay, i hate men
partially-managed mental illness is so fucking funny i'll be sitting around doing my job and suddenly think "wow i hate myself" and immediately get confused because, like, that's not TRUE! i love myself so much. who are you to talk to me like that
a guy walks in with two puncture wounds on his neck like “u should see the other guy” and then a vampire walks in covered in those cartoony lipstick kiss marks
i’m really glad this post was a hit with the gays
I had to draw this
I’m going to be an Astarion apologist on main for a minute, but here’s the thing:
Despite the most common interpretation, Astarion doesn’t disapprove of all good actions and approve of all evil actions. If you try to apply that logic there are a handful of moments where his approval and disapproval makes zero sense.
Take Glutt for example. The evil thing to do would be to agree to help Glutt slaughter the Sovereign, but Astarion approves if you turn down Glutt and kill him—because the alternative forces you to take on the entire myconid colony and be put in unnecessary danger. He usually approves of you going the persuasion/deception route to get out of conflict for the same reason. Despite his gleeful “let’s go hurt someone” line, Astarion’s primary goal is to never fight unless it’s either necessary or easy.
Astarion disapproves when you make decisions that puts him (and the whole party) at risk. He hates when you take on extra dangerous tasks for strangers out of the kindness of your heart, but not because he wants those people to suffer. It’s because he has one goal: survive. Astarion has been in survival mode for 200 years and that goes into hyperdrive with the tadpole. He didn’t come all this way and have his first taste of freedom in centuries to die just because you have a hero complex.
There’s still plenty to judge him and side eye him about for that, but i do think the subtle difference in motivation makes him a much more interesting character than “i like evil and hate helping people.”
