For this next arc I'm gonna need Occtis, Thimble and Julien to circle each other like cats, Bolaire and Kattigan to enter the funkiest psychosexual will-they-won't-they known to man, Vaelus to bring up Thaisha at any given moment to the point where everyone else in the party start rolling their eyes every time it happens, and Mara to do some sick kickflips or something. Thjazi's there too he somehow acquired an interdimensional capri sun. He never stops flipping Julien off
OOF.
Bolaire: ...Are we to trust Thjazi?
Thimble, laughing: I always have.
Bolaire: Very well then. I belong to you. I am your weapon. What would you have me do?
Thimble: ...Bolaire?
Bolaire: What did he used to say? Thimble, please tell it what to do next.
#it was making me CRAZY how no one was acknowledging how fucked up that was#at the table nobody agknowledged that except the NPC#And in fandom there's a ton of people calling him whiny and dramatic (or manipulative!) for it#But like#“this person used me manipulated me controlled me and referred to me as an object both to others and to my face”#is a perfectly valid reason to hate that person!#i think people were holding out for a reveal of some singular Grand Moment Of Cruelty that they could point to#and say “ah! See! Thjazi was evil actually!”#and who knows maybe there was some singular traumatic event#but even without it i think Bolaire is justified in his overall dislike#if i as a real human said “hey everybody this guy manipulated me to control me and referred to me as an object both to others and to my face#i would hope anyone who gave even the smallest shit about me to say “wow that sucks! it sucks that you were treated that way!”#“This changes how i see that guy; i didn't think he was the kind of person who would do that to someone”#and if they DIDN'T say that and in fact said “hey everyone else is having a shitty time right now too would you shut up about that”#it would change my opinion of THEM#Bolaire was absolutely justified in his crashout even without any further details of his interactions eith Thjazi#Also IIRC *Thimble didn't refute Bolaire about that dynamic* for the record#I'll have to rewatch that scene but i believe while she protested Bolaire's overall picture of Thjazi#she never said “hey that thing you just described never happened”
good goodamn tags @higglety
#in complete agreement#everyone saying they still don't trust Bolaire (I feel) are willingly ignoring it when THIMBLE was in agreement that Thjazi spoke like this#and speaking like that also discounts the 'Thjazi just didn't trust the parasitic mask that eats people' argument#because if that were the case Thjazi would do something about it rather than objectifying and misgendering and forcing work out of Bolaire#Thjazi can simply be someone who did great things on the face of araman while also being interpersonally shitty to a type of person/people#He can simply be complicated#there doesn't have to be a smoking gun he can just have decided that one type of person wasn't worthy of personhood#and that person has every right to hate and never forgive Thjazi and never make that rage palatable to the people around him
more good goddamn tags @definitely-not-a-wasp
It's not saying that Thjazi is eeeeeevil and Damned!! For!!!! All!!!!! Time!!!!!!!, or that there must have been a singular horrific trauma that he subjected Bolaire to; to say that 'if you dehumanise, objectify, and misgender someone while forcing them to follow your every order through blackmail and threats, that person is well within their rights to dislike you. Yes, even if they themselves have harmed others'.
Like I said on my other post: People LOVE to talk about how Bolaire could just kill his victims rather than subjecting them to mind theatre torture while starving them to death. They say that 'even though Bolaire only preys on people who hurt him or his friends, it is still morally wrong to take their agency and harm them rather than killing them outright'.
But Thjazi could've taken Bolaire off between those victims, put him in a box, and effectively 'killed' him - or put him into stasis, if he was so damn horrified by the morality of letting Bolaire walk about in his city.
He chose not to do that. Because Bolaire was useful to him.
He instead chose to treat Bolaire, a sapient person, as a tool who he possessed and had control over, while subjecting him to dehumanising cruelty every step of the way. Even if Bolaire is a dangerous parasite who hurts people, Thjazi chose to hurt him.
He and Bolaire are two sides of the same coin.
yknow my favourite new thing about kocctis/occtigan as a ship after the convergence is that kattigan really went "you killed my wife and daughter. I'm going to fuck your son" to primus tachonis and i think thats the funniest thing ever actually

WE'RE SO BACK
Suddenly struck by a vision of a future where the paths to all the underworlds have been rebuilt, and resurrection magic works once more, Wick taking actual levels in Cleric and reviving Teor.
commission for @aceofbasedesires, who requested an illustration of one of the scenes in @augentrust's fic The Bone That Has No Marrow! it was a huge pleasure and an honor to get to work on this, since i had already read that story and loved it to bits 🥰 please give it a read if you haven't yet!

thinking thoughts about Wick's tattoos.
they're really just. Such a violation. The fact that he's got a big old one on his neck too. He doesn't have any on his arms or anything, the only ones we see are on such vulnerable parts of his body. Wick willingly submitted to having a bunch of this caustic substance injected around his eye and his neck because he was fed a bunch of lies by people he loved and trusted. It's this permanent physical reminder of that deception that will always visually tie him to the Creed and his family. It'll probably always be the first thing people notice about him.
And they had to be more painful that normal tattoos too. Filament is caustic. It fucking ate that one dude's flesh off. We know they dilute it, and Wick probably has some natural resistance, but still, that shit had to hurt like hell.
it is still so funny that the party composition of the schemers table is just 18 charisma, 18 charisma, 18 charisma, murray doing her goddamn best
this is going round again so you know what's even funnier?
the composition of the second schemers table is 19 charisma, 20 charisma, 20 charisma, 20 charisma, murray doing her goddamn best
Okay, I know there's that theory about Zebani being the only non-aasimar of her siblings and that's why she's the unfavorite but 2024 rules have Necrotic Shroud as a daily feature for aasimar.
So, for your consideration: Zebani is also an aasimar, just like her father and brothers, but the only Celestial Revelation feature she can do is Necrotic Shroud. Granny Yanessa knows that having a granddaughter whose eyes turn into "pools of darkness" with probably matching flightless wings and an aura that gives people a sense of awful dread is probably not conducive to the image that the Candescent Creed is selling. So Zebani's still given enough influence to be in charge of the Prismatic Retort basement and Filament production, and to attend the highest level meetings of the Sundered Houses, but is passed over as heir because the creepy way her aasimar powers manifest make her "not fit to be the face" of the family of flame.
how old do we think zebani was when yanessa told her about the truth of the Candescent Creed?
How long did she get to spend in the bubble versus Wick? How long did she have to watch her brother, past the age where the wool was taken away from HER eyes, bumble around like a fucking idiot parroting the scripture their grandmother penned?
Because frankly if I was her, having to grow up in a restrictive religion like the Creed, be told it was a lie, and then be passed over as heir in favor of my younger, idiot brother...forget taking ORDERS from him? I would simply start killing.
Wick better watch his fucking back, his older sister is a ticking time bomb.
primus tachonis, after performing a massacre, a ritual, constructing a long-range magical network and killing two members of his own family: you created a celestial??
