Wait people hate Mylène? Why? I understand her not being someone's favorite character, but hating her?
Also why do people constantly use not liking someone as an excuse to be a bigot? Like, you can just not like a character and move on with your life. No need to be an asshole about it.

Mylene has some problems as a character, no thanks to Season 5, but being fat is definitely not one of them and it's ridiculous that people would spew this crap about her. Frankly, it's nice that they included someone like her in the cast. As for my opinion, I like Mylene. Not my favorite, but I think she's sweet in most appearances. I would really appreciate it if the writers never repeat Derision by making her a mouthpiece for their shit takes ever again, though.
Aside from that, got no real problem with her. Again, it's only when the writers are being stupid that bothers me.
MAGA is still melting down about the whole H1B visa controversy. They knew he was a criminal, they knew he belongs in prison, but they voted for him because they thought he'd get rid of brown people. Now, they're realizing that re-electing Trump still won't usher in a white ethno-state, and they're big mad. I hope terrible things happen to all of them
What's funny about this to me is that some of them are still trying to do damage control. Honestly, I legitimately believe this is where the Right as a whole truly starts to fracture. What the Democrats have been dealing with for decades now is finally starting to occur to the Republicans. While I can't really name every faction that's forming from this, I can boil it down to two main groups: the tradition-obsessed Authoritarian Right vs the capital-driven Libertarian Right. Only time will tell which of these main groups will win.
🚨KOSA is back and being pushed heavily in congress right now
I really hate to do this, but KOSA, the bill that is a mass censorship and surveillance bill that will specifically censor all LGBT content online to "protect kids", is back.
KOSA advocates have brought in support from Elon Musk (I wish I was making this up) and are trying to get him to get Donald Trump to speak out in support of it. (And they lie and tell us it's not an anti-queer bill 🙄). The reason so is because the holdouts that are stopping this from passing are...republicans. It's GOP House leaders Steve Scalise and Mike Johnson. If they succeed and put this in an end of year spending bill, it will be near impossible to get it out and it will most likely be passed. Pro-KOSA advocates were on the hill today pushing hard to pass it. They have a lot of support behind them. There is only two weeks left in congress, so if they don't succeed, it's over.
The ONLY way this bill has stalled so much so far is because of calls driven to congress. It has worked and can still work. Please, spread this as much as you can and call House leadership and spread the word! You don't have to be from their district. You can pretend to be GOP. It doesn't matter, just call and voice your opposition. Trump and Musk clearly have a lot of sway over these people and I'm really scared they will succeed at the last minute!!

I spent years trying to stop a nightmare from manifesting and in the end, I failed. (VENT)
This post contains a lot of emotional vomit, so apologies if this comes off an intense.
If you're wondering why I've been inactive on this blog and this fic for so long, it's because I've made the mistake of getting myself involved in politics. For those who are new, I am someone who's always been concerned over people's right to free expression, especially online. Doesn't matter if it's being threatened by Republicans or Democrats. I was doing all that I could to try and stop it. Unfortunately, it felt impossible to stop the government at large from slowly but surely stripping away these rights. The latest chance I had to try and protect these rights was through this year's election.
Simply put, I couldn't trust the GOP to uphold these rights no matter what the "free speech warriors" said. More likely, they would censor it if they felt like it. The only way I could see it is to try and get the Democratic candidate elected. It felt like we had a chance especially when the old one dropped out for a relatively younger candidate. We thought we were onto something here, but we weren't.
Not only did we lose, but we lost badly either because people got too confident like in 2016 or there were too many people who felt more like spiting us than making things better for everyone. No amount of reassurance, whether it came from my friends or my family, was able to calm me down about what could happen in the future. Not only did I have to deal with terminally online assclowns dehumanizing and mocking people like me for the next four years, but we could lose so many of the rights that a lot of us, even these terminally online folks, take for granted.
There are people out there who would rather allow tyrants to rule over them than to get along with people they don't agree with and that's incredibly depressing to me. Honestly, the only thing I could think of is how much people will end up regretting their decision as the years go on. I assumed that after it became clear that these people would try to cheat or even unleash a riot onto government grounds, nobody would be willing to let them have power again. I suppose I was wrong to believe in that.
Honestly, it's hard to find any hope in this. That said, I'm gonna try and find it anyways. It feels like all anyone could do at this point is give up, but I've learned that it's never our only option. We have to do what we can to try and make things better even if it seems impossible. Maybe down the line, some of these people will grow to regret their decisions and join us in our cause, but I'm not gonna hold my breath over it. All I know right now is that this is just utterly demoralizing and I'm not looking forward to what may happen in the future. People on the left mocking us for not being committed enough to their desires and people on the right mocking us for daring not to think like they do. I know it's ridiculous to invoke "Bothsidesbad", but I've never felt this way more than I have now.
Still, there's still tomorrow and tomorrow will be another day to go forward. We've been through four years of this before, eight if you want to be technical about it. We can hopefully get through four more.

The panel(?) "Voices and I" took place on July 20th 2013. Coincidentally the same day Secret Stache/Hip Hopocalypse Now aired. This would be episode 16 out of the season's 26. It's unlikely they were aware the episode they mentioned hadn't yet aired.
That being said there has never been a scene were Bucky and Flute Girl kiss. So the scene in question was either cut from an existing episode, or from an episode never produced.
Scott Menville's wording "I think Bucky kissed Flute Girl," means he could also be misremembering.
(I remember being excited to eventually see how that happened, never did! Wonder how that happened and what was the context.)
The way people treat this situation as a bad thing boggles my goddamned mind.
No one wanted to vote for Joe Biden. He was almost certainly going to lose the election thanks to propaganda revolving around one-issue voting about Israel being a genocidal colonist state. Tons of "Peer Pressure" propaganda about how "I can't vote for someone who would allow that to happen." was simply accepted as socially normative leftist praxis rather than a clear example of trying to sway the electorate into staying home and allowing someone -else- who supports the genocidal colonist state of Israel to continue it's course while also engaging in a further curtailing of human rights and the destruction of the queer community through Project 2025.
The vast majority of us still don't want to live in a Capitalist hellscape but that's not something we get to vote ourselves out of in this election, and -not- voting won't somehow magically make us move closer to freedom from the capitalist hellscape.
But it's -just- Propaganda to be happy that we don't have to vote for Biden and can instead vote for Harris-Walz, the latter of which who signed into law various reforms to make the capitalist hellscape we're in a little bit less of a nightmare, particularly for trans masc kids and poor kids.
And it's -just- Propaganda to vicariously enjoy the thrill of victory and the depths of loss through a series of competitions by some of the finest athletes in the world, including ones foreign to our own nation that capture our attention, imagination, and sense of community.
While it's often used as an excuse by politicians to direct attention away from crises it exists outside of that structure and has for over a century. It's a massive worldwide competition of some of the best athletes in the world performing at the top of their game for recognition and the thrill of the sport. That some people can feel a moment's joy and camraderie around that is a fucking good thing in a world filled to the brim with miserable shit.
You are allowed to be relieved that you can vote for Harris and Walz rather than Biden and Harris. You are allowed to enjoy sport. You are allowed to rally around a national symbol and the general idea of camraderie in an imperfect society.
So long as you continue to work toward a brighter future you are allowed to participate in the present and be happy about small victories.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is either so deep in their own ass about a given subject that they can't see sunlight through their own colon, or is a psyop trying to belittle and demean you into not engaging in even the smallest act of civic duty to try and keep things from deteriorating further in a given direction.
While the Garfield meme for Propaganda originally meant well, this kind of bullshit use of it to berate and insult is a clear use of the meme -as- Propaganda.
Thank god for some NUANCE, for all that is good and holy we’re allowed to be happy about things sometimes. Also, more than (or even as well as) patriotism, what we get from a new ticket and the Olympics is HOPE. For a better future, for actual functional change, for, for, for. Take a deep breath. I can acknowledge that a lot still sucks but! Not everything. You get to be happy when something goes well, cynicism doesn’t do anything. We need to take the positive energy from these recent situations and *use it*
