Dorcas was harshly drawn out from within herself and the cage of her mind, upon the sound of Tedâs voice; the distracted gaze of her green irises meeting his as he spoke â Sadness, fear, confusion, terror colouring her countenance. Edward was the light of Ravenclaw tower â He always radiated warmth and kindness; and no matter how bad things got; no matter how dim and dark things seemed to be, Ted Tonks; with his charming smile and reassuring words would always be there to reignite the light.
Dorcas had never seen Ted like this before, though â She had seen (and quietly admired) him stand up to the cruel and ghoulish souls that walked the castle halls; bullying those that they ridiculously and infuriatingly dictated to be 'lesser' than them, but no â Never had she seen this fire within Tedâs heart. A fire that burned strong, and fearless. âBut how are we meant to fight this, Ted? How are we meant to fight this force of raging hatred, and of suffocating darkness? A-A woman is dead â Sheâ Sheâs.. been erased from this world; and some horrid part of me canât help but be envious of her, because at least that means that she doesnât need to exist in this ghastly world any longer. Hatred and rancour has consumed this world â and these people.. T-These.. terrifying people; they wonât stop until all of us are gone.â It was beyond Dorcas; how she was even managing to still even speak, for she was consumed with fear and terror â and these feelings simply intensified as she spoke.
Hues welling with tears, Dorcas let out a shuddered breath â her hand slowly reaching for Tedâs â Platonic, but earnest. âT-Ted.. Iâm so afraid.â
âI donât think Iâm strong enough to fight this. To fight them.â
Ted always have had a soft spot for Dorcas; nothing that went beyond friendship. He had seen her around Edgar, the one person he trusted his life with and knew that he was a hard shell that she seemingly had cracked without as much as a bat of her eye. If it had been any other girl, he would've warned his friend to be cautious. But Dorcas had something pure and innocent, something he admired since it was something you barely see these days.
"That is exactly why we should fight back. Wands, fists, words; everything we have and am. We don't want to continue living in this world where blood is all that matters and all you am. It has to stop now, if we die we die fighting. Don't give up yet, gruesome things happened and will continue happen if we don't put an end to it. I for my part won't just offer them my head because everything seems lost. And you shouldn't either. This is our life and they have no right to take it or do whatever they want with it. Some things are worth fighting and if not for your life, then for what?"
As Ted noticed the tears gathering in her eyes, he put his arms around her and rubbed her back gently. "You are strong enough, Dorcas. We all are. We are responsible for the future the next generations will grow up in, we will live. You underestimate your strength. Don't be fooled by your fear, don't be intiminated by their actions. They die as fast as we do. This fight isn't lost."
