Abraham Joseph Berline was a born on the 5th of October ,1894 in Ukraine. at the of age 18 he emigrated to Paris to study Arts. His artworks were displayed in leading salons and galleries.
In May 1941, Berline was arrested as a Jewish Russian was sent to Compiegne camp. There he produced several landscape and portrait paintings including this artwork, painted on eggshell:
Due to a lack of art supplies inside the camp area, he used eggshells, The shells were cut into tiny pieces precisely, and was glued to a wooden board. on that he painted the view of the camp.
After seven month Berlin and his wife were transferred to Drancy camp. In 1942 he was deported to the Auschwitz, where he was murdered alongside his wife Chachia.
