“you can’t be vegan you need b12!!!!”
my b12 fortified beloved:
1. Ketch- a vessel with two masts, the front main mast and the aft mizzen mast, which is getting smaller and smaller. The ketch has its mizzen mast within the (construction) waterline.
2. Schooner- a schooner is a sailing ship which has two or more masts, has scraper sails as main sails on all masts and whose foremost mast is lower than (one) the aft mast(s).
3. Topsail schooner - This term describes the rigging of the ship, not the type of ship. It is a two- or three-masted sailing vessel rigged primarily with fore-and-aft sails (gaff mainsail and staysails) but featuring one or more square topsails on the foremast.
4. Brigantine - a brigantine is a two-masted sailing vessel with a fully square-rigged foremast and at least two sails on the main mast: a square topsail and a gaff sail mainsail (behind the mast). The main mast is the second and taller of the two masts.
5. Brig- A brig is a type of sailing vessel defined by its rig: two masts which are both square-rigged. Brigs originated in the second half of the 18th century and were a common type of smaller merchant vessel or warship from then until the latter part of the 19th century.
6. Barkentine - while a full-rigged ship is square-rigged on all three masts, and the barque is square-rigged except for the mizzen-mast, the barquentine extends the principle by making only the foremast square-rigged.
7. Bark - a barque, barc, or bark is a type of sailing vessel with three or more masts of which the fore mast, mainmast, and any additional masts are rigged square, and only the aftmost mast (mizzen in three-masted barques) is rigged fore and aft. Sometimes, the mizzen is only partly fore-and-aft rigged, bearing a square-rigged sail above.
8. Full rigged ship - a full-rigged ship or fully rigged ship is a sailing vessel with a sail plan of three or more masts, all of them square-rigged. Such a vessel is said to have a ship rig or be ship-rigged, with each mast stepped in three segments: lower, top, and topgallant.
9. Ewer - classic fishing and transport vessel of the Lower Elbe with flat bottom and side swords. It is rigged as single mast as well as one and a half mast.
10. Galeass- mostly a two-masted coastal sailer, ketch rigged, especially common in the Baltic Sea. Length rarely over 20 meters.
11. Tjalk - old East Frisian-Dutch coastal vessels with flat bottom, side swords and round ship ends. Rigging as one or one and a half master. Still common in the Netherlands.
12. Cutter - is a single-masted rig with two or more foresails – typically a jib and a staysail
roald dahl was antisemitic. george orwell was openly homophobic. edgar allan poe married his 13 year old cousin. dr seuss cheated on his wife. hp lovecraft was racist as fuck. anyways they’re fucking dead it’s not like you’re enabling their behaviors in the afterlife or something. then again I think orwell’s homophobia bleeds into one of his books so uh keep an eye out for that
the difference between these old white guys and jk rowling is that the former group is all dead. jk rowling is alive and using your money to oppress trans people
roald dahl was also racist. seuss was ALSO also racist. and these people are dead and we aren’t supporting them by consuming their work but their CHILDRENS BOOKS reflect this. so consume consciously and don’t give racist books to kids and not read it critically with them (and if you don’t it better be bc you know they’ll be able to do it on their own)
billie eilish says you can’t love animals and eat meat at the same time (and she’s right) and there are thousands of comments sayin she’s rich and she can’t tell people what to do and ohh it’s so easy for her. yeah it can be easier for her but when it’s a black poor vegan saying they are vegan bc they care about something bigger than them you also don’t listen. you don’t care. you just create excuses because you wanna keep harming and killing animals for your own good. instead of hating on billie you should look in the mirror.
in light of billie eilish’s “hot take” about veganism, I’d just like to say I am so sick and tired of non-indigenous people using our communities and practices as an excuse, to hide behind their own shame when really they don’t give a shit about indigenous peoples. they don’t talk about us in any other aspect besides this one and it’s only to cover their own backs. indigenous communities that have to hunt for their own food for survival is very different than going into a supermarket and buying packaged meat. these communities have quotas, they use every part of the animal, and they are responsible for taking care of most of our ecosystem. any good, intersectional vegan knows this and understands that it would be very colonial of them to go into these spaces and try and change that. saying this, there are a lot of indigenous people who are vegans and they are largely ignored because it doesn’t fit their narrative of the “noble savage” which is also a racist view of indigenous people.
Veganism is all about the victims, NOT US.
Veganism is all about the victims, NOT US.
Veganism is all about the victims, NOT US.
Veganism is all about the victims, NOT US.
Veganism is all about the victims, NOT US.
Veganism is all about the victims, NOT US.
But it affects all of us. Including the planet.
not me following billie eilish on ig just because she's an annoying vegan and people are being awful to her and she's like 'suck my dick'. big up, billie! the animals need voices like yours. 💚
like look I know you don't go around kicking puppies but that's your lifestyle choice, don't go forcing that on me. it's my personal choice to kick as many puppies as I like. nooo don't judge me or criticize me that's so mean :(
Actually I think forcing an animal to be pregnant every year of their life and subsequently slaughtered just to get their milk is cruelty and not good for them. I actually think that sounds like torture.
Won't doxx them but a feather artist popped up on my feed describing how she 'ethically' sources her feathers. From: pheasant hunters, farmers culling native magpies, pigeon racers, chicken farmers, and exotic parrot breeders. She was bragging about these sources? Being ethical?? What?????? I think her logic was that the feathers are a 'biproduct' but like, no one thinks animals are killed exclusively for their feathers? What does she think 'unethically' sourced feathers would be??
This is a good example of how people struggle to conceptualise how exploitation works. A byproduct that someone is charging money for becomes a supplementary product, it is not the primary reason for an animal's exploitation or slaughter, but helps make that act a profitable enterprise.
It is a bit like buying scrap cloth from a sweatshop. Sure, it'd go to waste otherwise, but you're giving money to the people who are exploiting workers, so you're helping them to turn a profit regardless of what that profit is primarily derived from. In many cases, animal exploitation industries would not be able to function without these byproducts. The hide of cows and the flesh of sheep, for example, are a big chunk of the profits made by the farmers who exploit and kill those animals.
If they were getting these feathers for free, or as discarded feathers from wild or pet birds it would be a different question. But anytime you are paying for an animal product, whether it is the primary product or not, you are directly funding animal exploitation.
Not feminist as in "women should be included in the draft" but feminist as in "being drafted is a violation of bodily autonomy for any gender".
The draft should not exist. Drafting people into the military is a violation of human rights. You should not be able to force someone to risk their life. If you can't find enough people who care about a conflict to keep it going then it simply shouldn't keep going. You can't even force someone to donate a kidney using government power, why the fuck can you force them to donate their whole body and life to a cause they don't agree with or don't care about?
"People are not property!" - *loud cheering*
"This includes prisoners! They are not suddenly property of the state when they're convicted!" - *a little less cheering*
"And that includes children who are not their parents' property!" - *almost no cheering*
"What? I thought we said people aren't property?"
"animals also aren't property" *angry shouting*
everyone become an animal rights activist now!!!

if the Hunger Games were real you know you'd have liberals saying things like "it's so cool how the Hunger Games allow anybody a chance to win, it's so democratic" and "it's great to have some District 12 representation amongst the winners of the Hunger Games" and "we need to make sure that young girls receive just as much Hunger Games combat training as young boys #feminism"
And if it was happening in another country they'd say shit like "You can't criticize the annual child death fight! It's their culture! You have to respect their culture!"
