I have engaged in a sidequest today, and henceforth I dub this misadventure: "Wayward Stranger."

A random fuckin' dog walked up to me and gave me a lick and then started following me around town. I asked at a few houses around me and no one knows this dog nor an owner looking for his dog. Soooooo now- after one nice lady made a Facebook post for me about this dog to a group for my town- I've taken this Stranger (that's the nickname I've given him) to my house to sit around and wait for the owner.

Update: I handed Stranger off to animal control since no one came to claim him and I returned the leash to the neighbor I borrowed it from. Hopefully he finds a good owner; he's a really sweet dog and if I had the energy and money and time I would've tried to keep him. A dog like Stranger deserves a good home.

... I'm absolutely going to find a way to insert Stranger into a thing. Maybe I'll draw him as some sort of familiar or spirit thing. Too good of a dog to forget.

Random thought about Pokemon:

Y'know Sky Battles in Pokémon X and Y, gen 6? They were these battles with specific trainers where you could only use certain pokemon, namely Flying types, because the battles themselves took place high in the air.

Well my brain decided to picture a pretty similar concept: "roaming battles"

Basically, I imagined a Pokémon game that has traveling to and from distant locations on pokémon-back as a central thing, some sort of wild west, new frontier-type thing, and while traveling from area to area you can randomly encounter trainers riding around on their own pokémon. Instead of slowing down for a full-on bout though, a roaming battle is a an immediate 1-v-1 engagement using the pokemon you're riding at the time, restricting you to only one of your possible six.

I'm mainly imagining this from an art perspective rather than a gameplay one because *god* wouldn't it be rad as hell if you went into a battle screen that looked like you were speeding through some type of landscape with special idle and attacking animations to show how your mons brawl it out with you and the opposing trainer riding on them?

While it's of my usual OC Karmatic, this is technically a thing related to my campaign: "The EJ Karmatic Hype System", a semi-jokey, mostly real idea gimmick for this boy to have as a temporary ally to the player party in my campaign. Essentially, it's a scale that sits at 0 for neutral, and ticks up to +5 or -5 depending on the boy's emotional state. It's essentially a morale system that updates, less on gameplay and mechanics and more just on vibes; how the party interacts with and treats the boy in roleplay.

His emotional state is relevant to gameplay because his magic is tied directly to it, and he can either become extremely extra powerful or incredibly weak based on how good or bad he's feeling, on top of just his general will to fight and go on being... Somewhat fragile.

Wanted to do a bit of concept art of this gimmick basically.
