Some writing advice I will never give up:

Your characters are allowed to be bad people. Your story is allowed to have no moral lesson.yyour ending is allowed to be sad. The villain can win. The good person can do something unforgivable. The lovers can destroy each other. You are allowed to write the thing that no one asked for and everything that everyone told you doesn’t work and you are allowed to not explain yourself.

It’s your story. Burn it down if you want to.

Man. Sure. Suzie Bingham hc list. Living free

• Suzie is short for "Suzanna", partly because I want some audial distinction for Sue and Susan (Lucas and Max's moms) and partly because I think its cuter than Suzanne

• She's autistic, but doesnt realize this due to how she was raised, only finding out in her late 20s/early 30s

• Her special interests are computer science, astronomy, and geography

• Her family is relatively well off; Mr. Bingham subsides off a "modest living allowance" from being an apostle in the church, which is how they've afforded her computer, camp, her National Geographic Magazine subscription, and housing like 12 hellions.

• Suzie is definitely the "golden child" to Eden's "firstborn failure" and her younger siblings bratty/exhausting nature. Mr. Bingham had a history of spoiling her and propping up her accomplishments (as Suzie has won lots of awards and does well in school) which is where a lot of Eden's resentment comes from.

• Eden feels like Suzie sucks up to their dad in exchange for getting things she wants and that their dad goes along with it.

• shes been planning to go to BYU since she started computer science courses in 1985

• the break up was really hard on her. She didnt understand why Dustin was getting meaner and meaner and she didnt recognize him anymore. Of course, she always wanted to talk things out, but Dustin would goad her and say she didnt understand, besides attacking her religion. At the end she couldn't put up with it anymore and alongside mounting academic stress she said she couldn't do this anymore. He basically agreed and they didn't contact each other for a long time.

• as cliche as it was it really shook her trust in her religion. She was so lonely and ashamed over what happened, but because Dustin was agnostic whenever she tried to talk about it her dad or the church would say its what was expected. It led to her going deeper into her faith hoping to fix things.

• it didnt. Eden moved out (or, rather, was kicked out for being an atheist), and Suzie had to carry the whole weight of like 6 younger siblings and an absent father while trying to excel academically.

• she fell into hysterics because she was so alone with nobody to talk to, feeling isolated by a community that was supposed to be so welcoming. Mr. Bingham noticed and coaxed out another confession, and, her dad, still reeling from what happened with Eden, also kicked her out.

• this kind of reinforced her mentality. She ended up dropping out of BYU after living on campus, and with her intellect + report cards was offered full ride scholarships to a ton of universities

• she ended up deciding to major in Computer Science at Princeton, desperate fo get away from Utah and all the bad memories.

• Surprise surprise... Dustin also goes to Princeton!

• I dont wanna bog this down but they do rekindle stuff hehe :)

• she couldn't drink alcohol or coffee for years; in Uni Dustin convinced her to try some. The coffee totally wrecked her and she couldn't sleep for a whole day, meanwhile the cup of beer she had left her completely sloshed, and she swore off both.

• besides a ton of AP classes and even college classes while in high-school, she was also in marching band

• she was able to keep in contact with her younger siblings via phone calls. She didnt hear from Eden for a very long time until she heard her father was seriously ill and the whole family got back together.

• Her parents were very lenient with supervising the content she read since she was very devoted and also intelligent, but it lead to her reading some books they probably wouldnt have approved of.

• she enjoys a lot of kids media not just personally but because she had so many younger siblings she was constantly seeing Winnie the Pooh, Starawberry Shortcake, and Muppet episodes on their television

• She often has lower back pain from crouching forward to look at her computer closer or wrist tendon pain from long hours

• super romantical and highly values anniversaries, holidays, and birthdays <3

• Very loud noises and people getting in her personal space bubble are surefire ways to overstimulate her

• she needs to hold onto something to fall asleep; pillows, dolls , Dusty, you name it.
