people in this fandom really gotta stop doing that thing where they can’t talk about their own ocs without bring up how much better and more original their oc is compared to everyone else in the fandom.

example, instead of:

“this is my lavellan! she’s a two-handed warrior and she can break a watermelon with her thighs lmao. she doesn’t have hair and she’s living her best bald life <3. i didn’t romance anyone, but she grew to be close friends with [insert character names here]. anyway, i really like her so here’s some more things about her!”

it’s like

“why does every person in the da fandom make their lavellan some mage bimbo? real talk, 99% of the lavellans in this fandom wouldn’t last a day as the inquisitor. as an example, look at my lavellan in this picture. she’s not a mage, she’s a two handed warrior. she doesn’t have time to worry about her hair or romance (seriously, it’s not a dating sim), because she has to lead the goddamn inquisition. it’s like people in this fandom can’t appreciate characters without having to bone them. love yourself. stop making boring lavellans.”

like, call out problematic shit, but someone trying to enjoy their character isn’t the problem with this fandom.

So this is my first ever playthrough of DA2 where I’m not romancing anyone, and I have to say that I’m…kinda disappointed with the post-All That Remains conversation. Aveline just sticks her head in, says “hey come talk to me later or whatever” and is gone.

Like….that’s it? You get the full conversation with her regardless of your romanced status, so it’s kind of a let down to not get anything new.

However. I was originally going to say that, hawkexvarric shipper or no, I think it should have been Varric, your best goddamn friend, who comes to visit you in your time of need.

But you know what? I think it was Varric. In the story he tells Cassandra, it’s Aveline, in and out, scene over, moving on. Yet there’s an entirely different scene where Aveline talks to you in depth.

In real life? It was absolutely Varric who went to Hawke. His own mother died a pretty nasty death; if anyone can commiserate with Hawke, it’s him. Right by their side, cracking a bad joke, or sitting in silence, or patting them awkwardly on the shoulder.

But like hell he’s going to tell Cassandra about that. Varric keeps himself on the sidelines of the story as much as possible anyway. There’s no way he’d give her something that personal, not if he didn’t have to.
