grace had to use a cane on erid due to the gravity being 2x earth’s gravity, but like hypothetically, couldn’t they have given him some type of wearable bionic for his legs?

if they gave him exoskeleton legs to wear whilst walking instead of the cane, wouldn’t it reduce the amount of weight he’s bearing and have less strain on his bones?

it wouldn’t remove other problems, like cardiovascular issues, but like he could possibly ditch the cane if he had a walking assist.

i know a cane is probably more convenient and easier to handle than putting on a freaking exoskeleton on your lower half, but a cane in the sand sounds hellish. i know there are sand tips for canes, but i feel like it’s still gonna be a struggle to balance because it’s uneven terrain.

you’re displacing sand as you’re walking normally at a beach. i’m clumsy on my own two feet at the beach in earth’s gravity, and i got horribly weak ankles (lowkey gotta get that checked out, probs hypermobile. my ankles wobble if i’m on my feet too long). you lean too hard and you displace sand, and then you lose balance.

if they can build this man a biodome, they can give him an exoskeleton for the shits and giggles either way.

Everytime I read something that gives Grace a cane or a walker, all I can think about is the sand. C’mon y’all- we built an intergalactic ship. The eridians built him an oxygen rich dome with a mini-ocean. Their tech may not have been as shielded as ours from the vastness of space, but it was a hell of lot more advanced. Support that man’s bones.
