Sooo...what do we think the chances are that the success of Heated Rivalry could help encourage people to make more TV adaptations of LGBT+ stories?
Because an AFTG television adaptation would fucking slap is all I'm saying...
As much as I love a good bit of angst, I'm an even bigger fluff lover, so i just have this perfect vision of Bucktommy waking up in bed together in the morning.
We're focusing on Buck, who's sleeping on his side. His alarm then goes off from his bedside table, so he reaches out to turn it off. A small smile appears on his face when he decides to roll over, and we see Tommy asleep next to him for the first time. Buck puts his arm around him and cuddles up to him. Tommy just smiles (eyes still closed) and says,
"Evan, I think that alarm means you need to get up, sweetheart." Buck just pouts against Tommy's chest and groans softly,
"Five more minutes. I'm comfortable here."
Tommy just smiles more widely, starts stroking his curls gently and says,
"You're going to be late, and you know Hen and Chim will blame me." Buck opens his eyes and looks up at Tommy, that pout still in place. Tommy softly kisses his forehead and says,
"How about this, I'll go downstairs and start breakfast while you jump in the shower, okay?"
"You don't have to do that, Tommy, I know you're working late today."
"But I want to. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I let you go hungry? Eggs and bacon?"
Buck just grins widely,
"Sounds perfect." He gives Tommy a quick kiss before heading into the bathroom. Tommy looks on, smiling widely, thinking how lucky he is, before heading downstairs to start on some breakfast.
If Tommy is at a bar with Karen (I hope im not clowning too hard), that would honestly be incredible. It would be soo cool to see them interact more, canonically (I think) we've seen them interact once in that deleted scene. I would absolutely love to see them interact more, I think they could be a really funny duo.
I can just imagine Karen giving him a bit of tough love and telling him to stop being a coward when it comes to Buck. He should stop focusing on what might happen at some point in the future and start realising that what he's always wanted is right in front of him (if he has the guys to take it).
But, also just the image of Henren in general being the ones to help Bucktommy sort their shit out. Karen with Tommy and Hen with Buck both giving them some hard truths and helping them sort out their shit and decide to give the relationship another go.
All ending with both of them letting Bucktommy know that they need special shout-outs at their wedding.
need tommy to be fighting for his life in the operation room after his helicopter crashed down and buck going absolutely fucking insane in the waiting room because "he doesn't even know. I never told him." someone asking "told him what?" "that I love him. he doesn't even know I love him. he doesn't know he has me to come back to". when tommy finally wakes up from the surgery (his heart did stop two times on the table but he is alive) buck is sitting beside him, holding his hand. and tells him he loves him <3
bucktommy cones!!!!!!!
Remember when Oliver sided with Tommy in the kitchen fight and Lou sided with Buck?
Wild.
I mean, I feel like this 100% tracks because personality-wise, Lou is much more similar to Buck, while Oliver is much more of a Tommy.
If anyone ever asks why I love Bucktommy so much, the main reason I can give is the potential.
Like, the juicy potential storylines there (crash that helicopter) with both of them being firefighters at different stations. Not only that, Tommy is a fascinating character with a not fully explored backstory. We've got some hints about him being in the Army (DADT time period as well) and that he doesn't get on with his dad (also could be a very juicy plot they could explore, if his dad shows up as someone the 118/Tommy has to rescue), but none of that has currently been explored.
Not to mention (on a personal note because I've always been a fan of Buck being happy primarily before any shipping stuff came into my brain) that I truly love the idea of Buck having his person. Like, having a montage of the people in the 118 going home to their loved ones after a tough shift, and Buck gets to go home and have a massive bear hug from Tommy ๐ฅฐ.
Buck and Tommy are already cute with the parts of the relationship that we've seen, but the thing that gets me frothing at the mouth is all the potential there for storylines that HOPEFULLY Tim Minear can explore properly. Please gimme juicy storylines for these two, even if it takes them ages to get back together, I don't care as long as we get something substantial (I am holding on to the very real possibility of Tommy recurring in Season 9).
TLDR: I already love Bucktommy for what they are but it's the potential of what they could be that truly makes me go feral for them
I mean, as much as glee was...not the best representation for...like a lot of things (and, saying that as a 25 year old who was around the prime audience of glee at the time) I do completely get what Josh is trying to say in that scene with Buck. Before shows like glee (I mean, I was 9 when it first aired 15 when it ended - rip me for being British and not being ableto watch it live), I don't remember really seeing anything other than straight relationships in TV shows.
Like glee is not the best staple for LGBT+ representation - especially bisexuals, I feel like they kept doing Brittany dirty over and over again with her characterisation and perpetuating stereotypes at points. But, I feel like it definitely helped mark a turning point for LGBT+ representation in the media. The fact that Glee was so popular, I'm sure, helped so many other LGBT+ focused stories to be told on-screen.
Theatre kids... we truly remain so powerful sometimes.
Tldr: Josh kinda had a point. Even if you don't like Glee,I think we should all just take a moment to recognise and appreciate the role that show played in getting so much LGBT+ representation on-screen to where it is today!
Tommy who changed his emergency contact to Buck when they were together and never got around to changing it back because that would mean admitting to himself that they were over for good.
And anyway, he figures itโs not like heโs affected by the 118โs bad luck when it comes to getting injured on the job.
Cut to Buck getting a call from the hospital
This year for pride month I want trans people to be alive. Thank you.
Happy Pride Month!
Faust is back for the 5th time! If you want to use the flag of your choice as an avatar, they're under the cut. They're free to use as long as it's for personal use only.
It's always
"No character is confirmed straight unless they explicitly state it"
Until said character actually says the words:
"I'm straight" in canon...on the show...
And then it's all. "No, they're just repressing their sexuality...if they actually were straight, they wouldn't feel the need to state it"
God, I hate this fandom sometimes. Please stop including Eddie in pride posts and start including actual canonical gay characters - like Tommy, who is explicitly gay in canon. 9-1-1 is and forever will be the gay firefighter show...but 0% of that title is because of Eddie.
If any of y'all fuckers out there still advocating to get rid of the juries, I pray you go fuck yourself.
Honestly, I am at my last fucking tether, because the ONLY reason that a genocidal fuckstorm of a country didn't win Eurovision this year is because the juries did not let them.
Isr*el WON THE FUCKING TELEVOTE. If eurovision was televote only, y'all would have allowed a country who is actively committing war crimes to WIN A CONTEST THAT ONLY EXISTS TO UNITE THE CONTINENT POST-WAR!! Israel are NOT in a war. They're bombing and killing civilians in Palestine, which does not mean they're 'fighting' any kind of war. A fight means that there's some degree of fight back, which is NOT what's happening. They're just killing people and claiming that they had "intelligence" saying that Hamas were there....in a hospital....filled with children....
Honestly (and I will forever stand by this), we need the juries in Eurovision to ACTUALLY help balance out the biased opinions of public votes. At least the jury votes this year were quite varied between France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and Latvia.
The Big 5 nations should (but unfortunately I don't think the BBC ever will) offer the EBU an ultimatum. Either you ban Israel, or we will withdraw our additional funding... I think collectively, it may work to get them to consider it. I know the only reason they're hesitating is probably because of the major financial loss of losing the main sponsor of the contest (MorrocanOil)
european tumblr girlies unite again for the annual shitposting about eurovision
As I couldn't vote in this Semi-final, I just want to say thank you to the countries that could vote for voting for Portugal and Iceland. Those two countries qualifying for Saturday's final has made my night completely!
