A lot of people these days know Rick Astley because of funny internet joke, but he had multiple hits back in the 80s which were pretty nice! Like this one :3
a thing about me is i basically never notice a wig or other kind of hairpiece in tv/movies. it has to be party city territory for me to even twig it. people will complain about characters' wigs looking bad and i will nod along but there is like a 90% chance i did not notice for a second while watching. i consider this mostly a blessing.
Emos & scene kids got this close to abolishing gender for real. I try not to think about it too much.
The idea of a popular teenage subculture where girl & boys pretty much all dress the same feels impossible now but for a while it was reality and it was beautiful.
it’s funny cuz it’s true
the enemy drank water today. did you?
i drank water three days ago. im several steps ahead of the enemy. this is what it takes to win
saying something you know will make people laugh. And they do laugh.

I told my little nephew that I'd wave at his airplane when it flew over my house today, and he very calmly and politely explained that it wouldn't be possible to see me due to the limitations of human vision. I said he just had to squint real hard, and he took a deep breath and went into the toddler version of "see, what you're not understanding–"
it is actually haunting me that I forgot to wave. if he looked out the airplane window, he wouldn’t have seen me…..
Go outside and wave real quick. He can not see you from wherever he is just as well as he could not see you from his plane. It's still nothing, nothing will change, but a process would occur.
I got a job at a gas station across from a casino and a guy keeps coming in to buy whole cartons of cigarettes and talks in the third person calling himself "snake eyes pete" and every time I tell him his total hes like "tell ya what if old Pete rolls a snake eyes why dont you give it to him for free?" and he rolls the same set of loaded dice on the counter and it does not matter how many times he rolls snake eyes I will not give him the cartons for free he gets so mad
Snakeyes Pete is from Toronto he gave me a button once that said "Canadians have the best luck" and i said i thought that was the Irish and he said "I fucking hate the irish" and i said okay

Redditor "Mags_Smash" recently complained about seeing McAfee pop-up ads on his PC despite never having installed the antivirus suite. He eventually traced the ads back to another app that his new LG monitor had installed without his knowledge. After connecting one LG UltraGear 27GP83B monitor and two 27GN800s, Mags_Smash found that at least one of the panels had installed an "LG Monitor App Installer" via the Microsoft Store and Windows Update.
LG monitors are now installing unwanted ad-driven software via Microsoft Store & Microsoft Update. Basically, Windows auto-recognizes the new device then 'helpfully' installs drivers to make the thing work.
But the manufacturer is building ads into their stuff, which Microsoft blindly passes along. I bet if you read the LG TOS you "agree" to this behavior when you buy the monitor.
Note that it's not the monitor phoning home, it's a byproduct of how Windows self-updates its drivers. The monitor itself has no wifi or internet connection. There is nothing to block. It's also not Microsoft explicitly being dicks, as they're simply installing the manufacturer's recommended software.
It is so ridiculously easy to gain a reputation for being competent by just reading signs.
This is not metaphorical. I mean actual, literal pieces of paper/plastic/metal/whatever explicitly erected to inform the public.
“How did you know this was the right trail?” I read the sign.
“Wow, how did you know what that flower is?” There’s a SIGN.
“How did you know we needed to use the side door?” THERE IS A SIGN POSTED ON THE FRONT DOOR.
Just…why are we having such different experiences of the world? People can read. I KNOW they can read. There’s nothing wrong with their vision.
Just. READ. THE. GOD. DAMN. SIGN.

I’m actually kind of glad aspartame is the latest food additive boogeyman for crunchy people, not because I think it is terrible for humanity but because it is a major migraine trigger for me and makes me violently ill. It’s hidden in so many things for no fucking reason, liquid medicine, mints, drinks that aren’t even marked diet. There are so many times I’ve bought something that had sugar in it and looked at the ingredients and realized it also had aspartame in it OR drunk something and gotten sick and realized it was on the ingredient list. It’s my fault for not checking but there are so many other artificial sweeteners that don’t have that controversy behind them and don’t have so many people reporting adverse effects but it’s like aspartame manufacturers are pitching their product left and right. It’s kind of nice to see products marked with ‘NO ASPARTAME’ now.
On a semi-related note, I’d recommend a food journal to anyone who suffers from migraines or mysterious headaches with an unknown cause. Triggers can be different person to person and lots of people do not respond to aspartame at all but common foods and food additives can be triggers. For example, my mom reacts to the nitrites in preserved meat products but I can chow down on a Slim Jim with no problem. I think a food having adverse reactions for you does not necessarily mean it is bad for everyone BUT it is weird aspartame is in everything for no particular reason.
TL;DR: You may be able to enjoy your Diet Coke with no adverse reaction but keep a log to make sure your headaches don’t coincide with the days you consumed one.
